Weekly /r/iOSGaming Discussion - What have you been playing lately and what do you recommend?

    Posted: 14 Nov 2021 04:00 PM PST

Please use this thread to discuss whatever iOS games you've been playing lately. They don't have to be new games, they can be old games and they do not have to be iOS original titles!

As long as it's an iOS game it belongs in here. Make sure to put the name(s) of the game(s) in bold to make it easier for people skimming the thread to see what you're talking about, and if you'd like to make it really convenient turn the game name into a hyperlink that sends people directly to the App Store!

To keep track of the thread, the comments are sorted by "new" by default.

ARPGs (Diablo style) with controller support?

    Posted: 15 Nov 2021 07:20 AM PST

I tried Raziel and while gameplay wise it was what I was looking for, it doesn't support the Razer controller. Anyone have suggestions?

Razor Kishinev or Backbone with iPhone 13 Pro W/ Apple Silicon Case?

    Posted: 15 Nov 2021 07:55 AM PST

Question is basically in the title. I have an iPhone 13 Pro with the blue silicone case that Apple makes, and was wondering if either the razor Kishi or backbone controller works with the case on. I'm not interested in taking the case off every time I want to use it.

edit: Razor Kishi obviously. Damn autocorrect

Anyone remember this old ipad game?

    Posted: 14 Nov 2021 06:33 PM PST

I dont remember the name at all, but i remember the tower choices and enemies vividly. It was a fantasy genre, with the classic dragon vs phoenix, undead vs living. Also i remember playing this like early 2010s, mid 2010s.

You start off as playing as the "bad" guys. Your units were skeletons and goblins. And eventually, you could summon The Dragon, which was the strongest unit. The enemies were the "good" guys. They were like counterparts, so if u had a basic skeleton knight unit, the enemy side would have a basic holy knight. And if you had gonlins, the enemy side would have elves. And if you had "The Dragon" then the enemy would have "The Phoenix" counterpart.

I also remember that you could upgrade your units, and the art of the units would change. The max level would make the unit look all green and ghostly, glowing too.

And i also remember that this game had a downloadable "part 2" of the game where you would actually play as the "good" guys, have their units, and play their version of the story.

The art of the game wasn't bad, but it wasn't heavily detailed either. Kinda like a perfect cartoon artstyle.

    Anyone got any leads?

What’s the general consensus about “Armed Heist”?

    Posted: 14 Nov 2021 12:58 PM PST

I had a few too many drinks the other night and downloaded the most generic looking third person shooter I've ever seen on the App Store (my wife and I were rewatching a show I had already seen and I got bored and wanted to play a shooter). It's "Armed Heist". The next morning in sobriety I nearly deleted the app immediately, but I decided to give it a shot first. It immediately comes across as F2P P2W trash, but the thing is I'm actually really enjoying it. The gameplay is like a condensed payday: the heist, the coop even with just randoms is fun, the weapon customization is extensive and interesting, and the pay to win mechanics are seemingly avoidable as you can watch ads to open crates and you make a lot of money. Anyone else played this game? What's the catch I'm missing?

On vacation apart from my husband, any games to play remotely together?

    Posted: 14 Nov 2021 02:09 PM PST

I'm on vacation with my mother, and my husband and I are apart for the first time (vacation style at least). Unfortunately it's our anniversary today!

We're planning to FaceTime and eat a meal together, but I was hoping there might be some multiplayer games we could install and play together as well. We like all sorts of games, but not so much FPS games.
