| M1 Macbook Pro 13 is ridiculous!! Posted: 14 Nov 2021 07:48 PM PST I just streamed the hockey game to my TV from my M1 MBP 13 and I actually left it plugged in for longer than I intended. I finally took it down and the thing isn't even warm. If I had left my old windows computer plugged into the TV for that long the fan would have been going into hyperdrive. Ridiculous how far ahead of the game Apple came with these new chips. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 15 Nov 2021 12:53 AM PST So I opened my mac yesterday and it was completely dead? Turned off, won't turn on. I thought ok maybe it died and I forgot the battery charge. Charged it up for a bit and it still wasn't responding. I tried resetting the SMC, PRAM, NVRAM and nothing worked. That's when I noticed the right side speaker (just in front of the ports) was a little bit warm. Anyone have any idea? I unplugged it and left it overnight (the warm speaker worried me a bit). Is this machine completely dead? Anyone have any idea what is underneath the right side speaker bit that would cause it to heat up? Luckily the place I bought it from has a 4 year warranty, and I have data backups but this is still really frustrating. [link] [comments] | ||

| Macbook pro stuck in boot loop every 18 seconds, can't get to recovery mode Posted: 15 Nov 2021 09:05 AM PST I have a 2019 16" (MacbookPro16,1), and it's currently stuck in an infinite boot loop. It just plays the startup sound, shows the apple logo (no progress bar), goes blank again, and repeats the process every 18 seconds. Even with the lid closed! I tried pressing Command-R to get into recovery mode, I tried just holding down the power button, nothing. It's just stuck in this annoying loop and won't stop. [edit] Never mind. I am wondering if I should just get a 2017 MBP with the thunderbolt 3 ports. I have heard bad things about them, but I don't think I need something like the M1, as the only thing I use my mac for is browsing the internet, and studying on the weekends. My girlfriend told me that her buying a hardshell case "might" be the reason why her screen was damaged. She never dropped it nor hitting it anywhere that might lead to damaging the screen. I finally have the financial opportunity to buy myself a Macbook Pro and I can't decide if I should buy the 16" Intel 2019 (16Gb Ram) or the newest 16" M1 Pro. I'm a creative professional and I use my Mac for all sort of things (Adobe Suite including After Effect, 4k Video, Blender, C4D, Logic Pro, Godot, Unity). I've heard that the M1 chips have some kind of compatibility issues, and I need my Mac to be as reliable as can be. The "issue" I have with the 2019 is the touchbar (I hate that thing) and the ports. | Posted: 14 Nov 2021 08:57 PM PST Hi all! I have a Space Gray late-2018 Macbook Air which is in good condition except for the fact that younger me put stickers directly on the exterior of it. I recently decided to peel off one of the stickers because I didn't like it anymore, and unfortunately it has left a mark on the casing of my Macbook. The sticker was clear with a colored design on it, and you can distinctly see the shape and design of the sticker imprinted onto my Macbook. My best guess is that the sun has hit that spot on my Macbook, and some chemical in the sticker reacted with the metal casing caused it to "tan" my Macbook. I hadn't saved my data, and have to extract it. The apple service centre gave me my hard-drive and told me to buy a casing for it to convert it into an external hard drive, or keep the hard-drive with them, and they'd extract the data after putting it in a similar model. They can't find a similar model to execute the second option. For the first option, I need the casing from somewhere- I ordered a casing for a 2.5 inch hard-drive but that was too small for the MacBook hard-drive. What should I do? [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 14 Nov 2021 09:02 PM PST I recently updated to Monterey, and I frequently use my ipad air as an external display, but ever since I've updated I haven't been able to use the sidecar display properly? I can't find the setting to scale the extended display properly on the ipad anymore. When I open display settings with the ipad connected, it shows the setting to scale the screen on the laptop display, but not for the ipad. It forces me now to view the extended display on the ipad as if it were a much smaller version of the built in screen, but it's much harder to read text and navigate this way. Anyone having a similar issue? Some help would be much appreciated! [link] [comments] | ||
