According to the latest rumors and leaks: the iPhone 12 Pro. TBH, I'm sceptical about the bezel size. However, the dimensions of the device match the proportions of the screen and user interface. (rev. 1)

I have had a lot of extra time over the last few weeks, and I've been wanting to make this application for years as it makes it easier for me to make some of my promotional posts for Instagram for another application of mine.

Create anything: Cool collages, smooth gradients, invitations, square images for social media, or anything!

[Dave2D] iPhone SE 2020 - The Way it Should Be

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 08:04 AM PDT

The iPhone SE (2nd generation) WILL have 3D touch according to official Apple documents

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 04:12 AM PDT

Found the reference in the Accessory Design Guidelines, under " 5.1.2.6 Edge Press Gestures ", which is an official 3D touch gesture to show the app switcher on 3D touch enabled phones since iOS 9.

" The following devices support edge press gestures:

    ●iPhone SE (2nd generation)

    ●iPhone 8 Plus

    ●iPhone 8

    ●iPhone 7 Plus

    ●iPhone 7

    ●iPhone 6s Plus

    ●iPhone 6s "

3D touch has not been mentioned at the introduction of the phone as Apple is phasing it out in favor of Haptic Touch. But it actually makes sense that the new SE has it, since it technically uses an iPhone 8 chassis, including the screen, which makes it possible to clear old stock of LCDs.

Link to the official document: https://developer.apple.com/accessories/Accessory-Design-Guidelines.pdf

Cheers everyone, and have an amazing day!

    Blackberry and the iPhone

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 10:14 AM PDT

it’s been 2.5 years and I’m still in love with my 10.5” 2017 iPad Pro

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 11:29 AM PDT

this device is awesome. I'm in college and I bought it my freshman year with the pencil, keyboard, and a simple case from amazon to use for notes in school.

it's probably the best investment I've ever made. I use it literally every day, if not for school then for to-do lists, productivity, netflix etc.

the  Pencil and smart keyboard are fantastic for school. I keep all my notes in GoodNotes, which is excellent by the way. I had to replace the smart keyboard after a while because it kept disconnecting, but that started after 2 years so I'm okay with spending a bit more money to extend the longevity.

it's still lightning quick and I've had no noticeable slowdowns since I bought it. zero. the 120hz screen is gorgeous and I don't mind using TouchID at all because it's so fast. the battery is getting kinda bad and I'll probably end up replacing it soon, but it still lasts me all day so I'm in no rush. I'm generally a sucker for updating every year, but so far I've felt no overwhelming temptation to grab a new Pro. maybe next year :)

I made a simple command-line utility for accessing the file versioning system

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 04:02 PM PDT

    https://gitlab.com/jcfields/versions

It lets you view, restore, and delete previous versions from the Terminal.

The Versions feature was added in Lion, along with auto-saving, when they reworked the document system in OS X. It's similar to Time Machine in that it saves previous versions of files, but it works separately from it (and without it). It's also superficially similar to source-control systems like git, but it works on all documents on your computer and not just the ones you've put in a repository, and it works with regular saves and auto-saves and not only when you commit changes.

In many applications (such as TextEdit), previous versions can be accessed through the FileRevert To menu. Browse All Versions... brings up a full-screen interface very similar to Time Machine. In my opinion, this interface is slow and lousy, so I made this utility, which is fast and lousy.

(BB Edit also has a very nice "Compare Against Previous Version" feature, but I'm not aware of any other editor that has especially nice support for Versions.)

You can use it to do handy things like open a previous revision in TextEdit or whatever your default editor is:

    $ versions --view 1 your_file_here | open -ft

Or compare changes between a previous version and the current version:

    $ versions --view 1 your_file_here | diff your_file_here -

There are more examples on the GitLab page.

It seems like a utility like this should already exist, but I couldn't find one (closest I could find is the built-in tmutil, which rolls back Time Machine snapshots). Then again, it's really hard searching for information on a feature called "Versions." I figured the easiest way to find out if a utility like this already exists would be to make it and post it on Reddit and wait for somebody to tell me xyz has existed for years and I should've just used that.

Anyway, hopefully it doesn't already exist and other people find it useful.

    Note about Catalina

Catalina will freak out the first time you execute this program. That's because it's not notarized because (as far as I know) I can't notarize it without paying Apple $99 for a developer program account, and I really didn't want to do that for a glorified shell script. To run it anyway, you have to follow these instructions:

    • Try to run it. Get a warning, which you dismiss.
    • Open System Preferences, go to Security & Privacy, hit the "Open Anyway" button near the bottom.
    • Try to run it again. Get a warning again, but now you can select "Open."

And it'll run without warnings after that.

You can also compile it yourself if you have Xcode installed and you're comfortable doing that. Just download the whole repo as a zip file, extract it, open the .xcodeproj file, go to ProductArchive in the menus, and then "Distribute Content" from there.

If you're still running Mojave or earlier, it'll run without issue, I think/I hope.

Fast Match for Tinder, a Tinder app I made for iPad and iPhone

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 03:00 PM PDT

Hi everyone, a few weeks ago, my app Fast Match for Tinder launched on the App Store. It's the first way to use Tinder natively on both iPad and iPhone! I had a blast building it over quarantine. Here is a quick GIF showing it in action on iPad.

Considering profiles one at a time isn't very effective and can feel like a massive time sink. Fast Match remixes the traditional swiping app by enabling you to consider groups of profiles at a time. You pick out who you like in the group, and with a tap you move on to a fresh set of faces. Fast Match also adds the ability to filter out profiles based on prohibited bio keywords set by you, a lack of photos, or the lack of a listed school/job.

Here is a list of the coolest features

    • View multiple profiles at once

    • Pick out who you want to swipe right on and quickly move on to the next set of faces

    • Auto Pass on profiles that contain custom keywords you set (the office, Venmo me, etc.)

    • Auto Pass on profiles with less than 4/3/2 photos

    • View all your matches in a grid to quickly decide who you want to message/unmatch

    • Two finger swipe right to Like All and two finger swipe left to Pass All

    • Designed for both iPhone and iPad

It also features the same traditional controls as regular Tinder

    • Swipe right on a profile to like, swipe left to pass

    • Tap a profile to view their entire profile

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn about my app. Here is the App Store link. Please let me know what you think!
