What is everyone's favorite Apple Watch running app? Posted: 14 May 2019 06:36 AM PDT I have been running with the apple watch since the first apple watch was released, it quickly replace my pebble. Over that time I have switched between many different apps like MapMyRun, Strava, and Runkeeper to name the most recent 3. My runkeeper pro just expired and before I renew I wanted to see if there is anything better out there. I love strava but since they crippled the apple watch app it became unusable for me 2 years ago. Requirements: Live Tracking - My family likes to be able to check on me during my weekend long runs. Posted: 13 May 2019 10:14 AM PDT Media sources state that it's just bug fixes and performance improvements, but let me know if you find anything different in the new update! [link] [comments] |
They didn’t lie about the performance improvements... Posted: 14 May 2019 02:00 AM PDT I'd been thinking my S3 was getting a bit slow, then 5.2.1 released and it's amazing. It used to be quicker to grab my phone out and do things (like check the weather) but now it's worlds faster. Anyone else have a similar experience? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 May 2019 06:09 AM PDT I hated having photos in my photo faces area on the app. So, a month ago I removed all my memories and favorites. That still didn't clear the photo faces in the Apple Watch app on my phone. To get it to clear completely I had to un-pair re-pair. Fast forward to today after the update. New memories were created by iOS (grrrrr). And some showed up in the Apple Watch app face gallery. I went in and cleared the new memories and this time the face gallery photo phases cleared without me having to go through the trouble of un-pair and re-pair. Is this a new feature in 5.2.1? As a side note: I hope new iOS gives us an option to turn off memories and suggestions for photos. I really dislike the features. [link] [comments] |
Apple Watch S4 vs TSA anyone have any experience? Posted: 13 May 2019 03:47 PM PDT Hey Everyone, Later this week I am flying with my S4 44mm Aluminum for the first time and was wondering what to do with it when going through security (Airport will be LAX). Can I just wear it through the scanner without worry? Or should I toss it in my bag before I get to that point? Also, how do people find using it as a boarding pass? is it super easy or should i just stick to my phone? Thanks in advance! Edit: Thanks for the Responses! I'm gonna go with keeping it on. one less thing to worry about. Depending on how long the lines are i may or may not try it as my boarding pass. don't want to be that guy that holds up the line. Any recommendations for portable apple watch chargers? Posted: 14 May 2019 08:13 AM PDT I have the Flagpower one (only one available on Amazon.ca), and I saw that Belkin just released the 2nd gen of the Boost Charge Power Bank for the apple watch: https://www.belkin.com/us/p/P-F8J233/ Any recommendations? I found the Flagpower one was only good for emergencies, and some times drained as fast as it charged when I tried using it on a trip. [link] [comments] |
KardiaMobile 6 Lead ECG Approved Posted: 14 May 2019 08:01 AM PDT I love my Apple Watch with ECG app but this device looks really cool. Does anyone know if there will be a significant difference in AFib detection between these devices? [link] [comments] |
Any games which use Apple Watch exercise data? Posted: 13 May 2019 12:15 PM PDT Hi all, I stumbled upon an app in the Store called Run an Empire, where you have to exercise to play through the game. I love the concept, but it doesn't sync with my Apple Watch health data. I play Pokémon GO regularly, which utilizes walking data a bit (to hatch eggs), and though I love it, it's only a minor part of gameplay. I'd love a game that uses all of my exercise data when playing. It could be single player, but of course competitive play would be even better. If any such games exist, I'd appreciate the tips. TIA. Set up ECG on a different device Posted: 14 May 2019 07:05 AM PDT I have an iPhone X on iOS 12.1.1 beta 3 because jailbreak. I'm not willing to give that up for ECG, but if I got something like an iPhone 5s (that supports iOS 12) would I be able to activate ECG there, even though it's not my primary phone? Posted: 14 May 2019 04:53 AM PDT I've had my S3 a little over a year. There have been some issues here and there, but not like this. I noticed my battery was dying before a full day was up. I would charge it to full or almost full in the mornings, and wear it until the next morning. Two days ago, I got the battery at 10% in the evening...weird. Checked on an update, there was one. Charged it last night, wore it to sleep, do no disturb, theatre mode, and sound off. Woke up this morning at 56%, so it's charging again. Do I need to let it die to "restart" the battery? Does Apple Watch Predict The Resting Calories While Off? Posted: 13 May 2019 12:21 PM PDT I've noticed today that the health app was filled with burned calories during the time where my watch was off, this led me to think that it might be predicting it and filling it up although the activity calories won't be filled which makes sense! What do you think? [link] [comments] |
Using Apple Music on the Series 4? Posted: 13 May 2019 06:13 PM PDT Hey I was wondering if anyone here experienced the same problem as me. I have a LTE series 4 and I want to stream Apple Music from my watch. I want to go on runs or places without my phone, but still be able to stream. However, whenever I want to stream, it tells me to turn on or enable cellular streaming. I can't find any settings that does this and all cellular features are turned on, as far as I know. All other cellular features like calls or texts work flawlessly. Can anyone help me? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 May 2019 03:04 AM PDT I love my Apple Watch 4 but it seems that activity detection is sometimes (often?) incorrect. Especially the 'standing' ring (maybe because it's easy to verify) seems to increase easily/rapidly and doesn't seem to correspond with the actual standing that I've done. Is this a known issue? Posted: 13 May 2019 12:16 PM PDT 10 weeks ago I started a 10 week challenge with a good friend of mine as we both wanted to get back into shape. Both of us are very competitive, so we set the rules at there would be a weekly challenge over who can burn the most active calories. We put some monetary stakes on the per week winner, and a fun trip based on the winner of the most weeks (first to 6 weeks). It just completed, and it was an awesome way to stay motivated and make sure I'm consistent with my fitness. As a result, I've started to expand this to my family and other friends. I've found that with my mom I don't want to make it competitive, I just want it to be something where we can both encourage each other to hit our goals and get real time updates. It's been awesome to check on her progress at 7 PM and if she's a 20-30 min walk away from hitting her goal I can call her to talk on the phone while we both go for a walk. I've extended this to my sister and brother both of whom live in different cities, and it's been amazing for bringing us closer together! The real time updates on when someone completes a work out and what their goals are and how they're doing toward their goals is amazing for accountability and encouragement. However, I wish there were more dynamic options for putting together group challenges. Right now the 7 day challenge is a bit silly on the way it scores points and can only be 1 on 1. Why can't we build our own challenges with a set metric to compete on, choose multiple people, and choose the length of time? Right now I end up having to manage all this in google sheets, which can become cumbersome. TL;DR Apple watch activity sharing is great for motivation and bonding, could use more dynamic options beyond just a 7 day challenge with static scoring. I'd love to hear other peoples stories for how they use the activity sharing feature, any questions on how I've set it up, and any other workarounds or competitions! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 May 2019 08:52 PM PDT I've had the S3 for a while now but after looking at the S4 models, I'm looking into the possibility of selling my watch for the specs, screen, and features of the S4. Do you guys think I should wait for the release of the S5, or will that also depress selling prices for the S3? Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
[WatchOS 5] PSA: found a potential fix for battery drain issue people were experiencing with OS 5.2. Posted: 13 May 2019 06:26 PM PDT I just received S4,40 MM SG aluminum LTE a few days ago. Started experiencing fast battery drainage which didn't seem normal after browsing this sub for a while. Lost 10% an hour at one point, and 20-25% by four hours at another. Some searching on this sub when i had the problems showed me that others were having the same problem so I figured I'd put this here in hope that it may help someone else: Things i tried that didn't work-
Things I tried that did work: I saw someone recommend the Apple Support app, saying there was a chat function so I gave this a shot. The person I spoke to recommended doing another repairing like new, then installing the new update. I wasn't aware that 5.2.1 was out today so I ignored the bit where he said to update OS, do to stupid confusion on my part. The repair didn't do much but after I realized 5.2.1 was out, I installed it and did a hard reset for good measure. Now I'm experiencing a 1% drain per hour. It's been three hours now and I've only gone from 97 to 94. I can't say if the hard reset was necessary but it certainly didn't do any harm. I hope this can help someone. I'm not saying 5.2.1 will fix every battery issue but it did in my case. :) Edited for clarity. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 May 2019 08:37 PM PDT Hi all, I have a Series 0 that I bought when the Watch was a new thing, but the battery got so horrendous after a couple years I started wearing my mechanical watch again. I want to get back into in Apple Watch, and I'm wondering if the Series 4 is worth the extra money compared to a Series 3? I would wait for the Series 5, but I want one in the next month. I had also considered just replacing the battery in my Series 0, but it's pretty slow so I'm looking for a performance upgrade as well [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 May 2019 11:45 PM PDT So I scratched top part of my S4 and a bit of plastic film is coming off the top edge. Is there a stock film in place? I don't know if it is and im scared to pull it off not knowing the after effect. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 May 2019 07:28 PM PDT I've had my S4 space grey since it's release and have a few bands I really like but none have everything I want. The silicone standard bands are comfortable but lackluster, the nylon NATOs I have are great but some rub or push into my wrist where the fabric is folded and attached on the inside and is uncomfortable/itchy. I've looked around for a NATO style band made out of the rubber/silicone material but can't really find one. Does anyone have any suggestions? Do they even exist? If not someone could make some money creating them lol. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 May 2019 07:15 PM PDT Just got a watch for the first time (series 4). I've played with different settings to try and toddler proof things but my little one can somehow open it up instantly and tap away at things. I'm still learning... Any suggestions are welcome. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 May 2019 06:40 PM PDT Hey Everyone! Wondering if anyone knows of any great tech that you can link with your Apple Watch to increase its fitness tracking potential? I am particularly interested Running but also swimming, cycling and CrossFit or anything else that can give me better insights into what I am doing when I'm out training 😊 Not sure if this it a thing apple is really looking into yet, but just thought this is probably the place to ask [link] [comments] |
