| Subscriptions not syncing between devices Posted: 13 May 2019 05:55 PM PDT So I downloaded everything and I'm up to date. I canceled my HBO NOW subscription and resubscribed to the HBO for Apple TV channel, but it's only working on my phone and my Apple TV. When I go to an HBO show on my iPad. It just says "Try HBO free" instead of play. Ive turned off/turned on, deleted the Apple TV app and re-installed, reset network settings, cancelled my new HBO for Apple TV subscription and re-subscribed, signed out of iCloud and signed back in, but still nothing. Is anyone else having this problem? When I do click "Try HBO free" it says "You're currently subscribed to this," but never changes to give me the option to play. Just really frustrating that I'm trying really hard to do things the way Apple wants me to do them but I get shut out of services on certain devices on day 1. [link] [comments]  | ||

| AppleTV 4K w/ TCL Roku 4K HDR TV: HDR makes the colors look washed out and worse than SDR. Why? Posted: 13 May 2019 06:08 PM PDT I wish I could take screenshots to accurately show what I mean but I'll try to explain it a bit more: I have 4 TCL Roku 4K HDR TV's in my house. Living is the 65" model and my Main and Guest bedrooms have the 55" models. Each TV is hooked up to an AppleTV 4K. And each AppleTV 4K is set to use HDR at 4K 60fps with 4:2:2 chroma. The weird part is that if I turn off HDR in the AppleTV settings, the colors on the TV look better. The blacks, blues, reds, everything. It all looks better without HDR. As soon as I turn on HDR, things get a yellowish washed out hue to them. And I don't understand why. I tried to take a picture of my TV in both settings (hope it helps): 55" Model with HDR enabled in ATV4K settings 55" Model without HDR enabled in ATV4K settings First picture is 4K HDR 60Hz, Chroma 4:2:2 Second picture is 4K SDR 60Hz, HDMI Output YCbCr, Chroma 4:4:4 Has anyone experienced something like this with their TCL (or other brand) 4K HDR TV's? EDIT: It's pretty bright in my living room right now so take this with a grain (no pun intended) of salt, but I'm skipping around through "The Long Night" and the quality seems as good as if not better than the Prime Video channel stream. Could be pretty good news! EDIT 2: No HBO NOW access as of launch; it's definitely separate from HBO NOW via iTunes ("Restore Purchase" prompts me to renew my subscription). Hopefully it's something they're working on... HBO has to add "Apple TV channels" as a provider like they did "Prime Video channels." [link] [comments]  | ||

| Posted: 13 May 2019 01:18 PM PDT I saw that you can download HBO episodes if you subscribe to HBO via Apple Channels. But I noticed that some episodes don't have the download icon (i.e. Game of Thrones). When I tap into the episode it seems my HBO Now subscription is the "default" for those episodes but not others. It could be that I had played those in Now and it preserves that state. So I removed Now from my iPhone but the issue is still there. Has anyone seen this? For instance, I track Fallon (NBC), Kimmel (ABC), Billions (Showtime), Impossible Engineering (SciHD) etc. It bundles the episodes by season and remembers the last episode I have watched. It direct plays the episodes without have to manually start the app (e.g. Showtime). [link] [comments]  | ||

The TV app is not registering this in the Up Next section. Every other show I watch on Hulu ends up in Up Next, even shows I watch live for just a couple minutes. I don't even have the option to pick anything other than MLB At Bat, even though I excluded the At Bat from "Connect to TV". I would prefer it find the game on the FoxSports Go or PSVue apps. Today I checked and now it says 83 movies. I think the total number of movies is still correct. I found some movies that I definitely purchased in 4K are now only HD. Last November I bought the Matrix Trilogy in 4K and right now only the first movie in that set shows to be in 4K. There must be others but I can't figure those out yet. [link] [comments]  | ||

The app remains in my opinion so gimped that it is actually not even useful. It creates more frustration and just the fact that you have to open most of the content in other apps STILL blows my minds. It seems to me that lately Apple software has been inferior (example: Apple News) which is sad considering it was the main reason I had stuck with Apple devices for so long.
