Is there a way to find and repair broken aliases? Posted: 20 Feb 2019 12:40 PM PST (Sorry, I can't get discussions.apple.com to work on my computer, so I have to ask here.) When I select what turns out to be a broken alias, the finder freezes. I think it is supposed to give an alert, but it just freezes. Is there some way to find all the broken aliases? Improving macOS Mojave stability Posted: 20 Feb 2019 07:36 PM PST OS: macOS Mojave v10.14.3 2016 Macbook Pro, 2.7ghz i7, 16gb memory Over the course of the past few months I have been experiencing a ton of instability in the OS where random applications (finder, chrome, office, safari, slack etc..) and even menu bar items (1password, istat etc) freeze for no apparent reason. It seems like daily I need to do a hard reboot by pressing and holding the power button because a force close will not recover the system. I can't really pin point any specific app that has caused this. It seems like stability has degraded over time. Short of doing a fresh install, is there anything I can do to improve stability? I am up to date with all updates and I have also used tools like Onyx but do not see an improvement [link] [comments] |
I reset my MacbookPro mid 2011 "13 and now I'm not able to upgrade to any version of macOS Posted: 20 Feb 2019 04:24 AM PST So I reset my mac and now I'm on version 10.7.5 (lion). The problem is I can't use any programs like office, adobe etc. because the mac os version is too old. When I'm trying to upgrade to a newer version (via Appstore) like Yosemite or elcappitan it says: "Software update is required, upgrade your mac to the newest version of mac os to change pay informations on your account" Before the rest my macbook was running sierra mac os without problems. PS: Sorry for bad english :) [link] [comments] |
Is it possible to do a full backup to Iclpud, Posted: 20 Feb 2019 09:18 AM PST I have 1,8 TB in my iCloud subscription left, I have turned on all of the features like iCloud picture sharing and all of the things in iCloud Drive which does copy my documents but I wondered since I have so much space is it possible to do a Time Machine like backup but instead of to a Harddrive (which I already have) do it to iCloud? Any help is greatly appreciated. (I have a 2011 iMac, iPhone, iPad) [link] [comments] |
Exhausting problem with my Macbook Air and iPhone X relationship Posted: 20 Feb 2019 01:10 PM PST Hello everyone, I have a serious problem with my Mac Air and my iPhone X. Both are updated to the last version. Well, I have seen that a lot of people have problem with charging or connecting the iPhone to the Mac with a similar pop-up "the software isn't available" etc etc. You know it I am sure. At the beginning you will say "oh well ok" but when it is constantly present and Apple is not doing something at all, it is exhausting me. (Sorry for the dramatic moment) My iPhone can't be synchronised, charged, nothing. I have tried something seen on Apple forum. I download Xcode beta version to have the latest updates for my iPhone profile, but nothing changed. I really hope someone has the answer and I wish you a good night from France, thanks guys [link] [comments] |

I have a Mac that keeps crashing no matter what I do. Posted: 20 Feb 2019 09:50 AM PST Where do I start looking to find out what's going on? I thought upgrading the OS to Mojave would help but it's hasn't. It's to the point now it doesn't load MacOS at all. When starting up, the loading bar gets about half way and then it shuts off. Thanks in advance. Edit 1: Next step is Recovery Mode. Edit 2: Currently reinstalling Mojave. First Aid found no issues on the drive. Why can't I access Terminal from the Recovery options? Edit 3: Reinstalling Mojave from the Recovery Options seems to have worked. It's coming up after the reinstall but doing so incredibly slowly. Edit 4: An hour later the progress bar has barely moved. I'm betting on a disk issue despite the test finding nothing. [link] [comments] |
