Is it worth it to reinstall Office from the App Store? Posted: 29 Jan 2019 12:04 PM PST Since Office is now available on the Mac App Store, I'm asking myself whether it's worth it to remove Office from my machine and reinstall it from the App Store. I think it might be slicker on the system, since it's probably lackig quite a few parts of the original install, such as the Updater and whatever ran in the background. I always found Office quite an annoying software to maintain (compared to apps from the App Store), since it always asked me for special permissions in the keychain and had tons of updates over it's proprietary Auto Update – maybe the experience will be more convinient in the App Store version. What do you think? Did some of you already switch? [link] [comments] |
Does PDF Expert on Mac have a Dark Mode option? Posted: 29 Jan 2019 05:07 PM PST Question above. I googled it and came across the options for Spark or the iPad version of PDF Expert. Does anyone know whether this feature is available on Mac as well. Cheers. [link] [comments] |
Koingo MacPilot - Blacktree Secrets prefpane Replacement? Posted: 29 Jan 2019 07:10 AM PST So I've used the Blacktree Secrets prefpane for as long as I can remember, but alas, it has been out of support for some time now. I came across this Github fork, but the owner said that it was for archival purposes only, not development. Recently, I saw a video on 9to5 about Setapp where Jeff mentioned MacPilot and I saw a screenshot that screamed Blacktree Secrets at me! Has anyone used MacPilot and or have any recommendations for s Secrets replacement? [link] [comments] |
Should i upgrade from High Sierra to Mojave ? Posted: 29 Jan 2019 03:05 PM PST Hello everyone ! I own a 2018 MacBook Pro and am currently using it under High Sierra. When Mojave came out I have seen a lot of drama going on around some battery drainage issue. Has this been fixed now ? I experience some great battery life on my machine under High Sierra and would really be disappointed if an os upgrade would turn out into a downgrade. What do you guys think ? Is it "safe" for me to upgrade now ? Or is it not such a good idea ? I really could use some of the new features that seem pretty neat 😏. Anyway, thank you all. Have a nice one ! [link] [comments] |
Mojave bug? - No longer offering to Move to Trash, only delete immediately Posted: 29 Jan 2019 08:56 AM PST Ever since upgrading to Mojave Command+Backspace on a file or moving the file to the trash basket on the dock always comes up with a dialog box saying delete immediately? I can no longer move anything to the trash. Any idea why? Is there an option somewhere that has been turned on by the upgrade? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Jan 2019 02:01 PM PST My early 2013 macbook pro retina suddenly did not power on, and i got the folder with "?" icon meaning boot problem. Restarted into recovery system, got into disk utility and find MacintoshHD in red text, and when i click it, either verify or repair, it displays partitions errors it cant fix. Solutions online suggest reinstalling macOS. Problem is that im not able to erase(format) the damn disk so that i can actually get rid of whatever is trouble in there and install the new macOS(the erase tab doesnt show up). What can I try now? The solution I came up with is creating a bootable USB and boot up from it and try to format MacintoshHD then. Has anyone ran into a similar problem like this, not being able to verify/repair nor erasing MacintoshHD? Any tips or info is appreciated! [link] [comments] |
List of ported Apps to Mac Os - Project Marzipan Posted: 29 Jan 2019 12:17 PM PST All, I was looking for a list of all of the iOS apps that are ported to MacOS after marzipan was made official. So far, I see only 4 apple apps that are ported over. Is there a place or list that is regulary updated with the apps being ported over.. that would be really wonderful I am kinda surprised that almost 3/4 year later, no other app is ported over.
