What I miss about the fingerprint scanner. Posted: 28 Jan 2019 07:34 AM PST I could reach into my pocket, hold down the button and have Siri read my text messages to me. With the new one, I have to take my phone out and stare at it first. Any work-around? [link] [comments]

Iphone keeps disabling auto-join to my home wifi Posted: 28 Jan 2019 09:25 AM PST Hello people, I've this iphone8 for almost 7 months, but in last 2 months, it disables auto-join to my home network whenever I enable it. My sis also got iphone, it is 6 though but with same version, she doesn't have such a problem. This is really annoying because in my home 4g signal is literally dead. I got the phone to forget the wifi network and also reset network settings, but still same. Version: 12.1.2 Phone: 8 [link] [comments]
How much do you spend on screen protector Posted: 28 Jan 2019 07:29 AM PST Hello fellow apple fans! I was always thinking how much should you spend on screen protector and how much is too much. I haze seen people spending up to 25$ to get screen protector that is the same quality as 2$ one. I have gone ahead and purchased few screen proccetor ranging from 0.5$ up to 15$ and here is my conclusion. 0.5-2$ It is ok if you are on really tight budget but I be honest it is not great option. Texture of these glass protector is really poor it fells like you are touching blackboard for furs few days, then it goes away and feels like a normal glass protector. Oleophobic layer on these is really bad and you always have you screen dirty and for some reason on my 8 Plus these screen protectors didn't stick that well so I had air gaps around screen. But only on 8 Plus, not on 7 and 6s. There was only 1 glass that was way better than all of the other ones and it felt like screen protector for well known brands that cost way more. 5-8$ I have used few of these and they are pretty much the same. Fit is really good even on 8 Plus and oleophibic layer is great. I think that it is perfect price point for screen protector. 20$+ I don't think that you could justify paying this amount of money for screen protector. You are just paying for brand name because they feel like 5-8$ screen protector. So if you like paying for brand name go for it. Conclusion In my opinion best price to performance ratio is in these 5-8$ screen protector. You are not really paying for brand name and get product that it worth you money. Some people like my friend buy cheapest possible screen protectors in stacks just to apply new one every week but in my opinion based on testing you are better of buying one higher quality glass than 10 low quality. What are your toughts on this topic and how much do you spend on screen protectors? [link] [comments]
What happens to e-sim when replacing the phone? Posted: 28 Jan 2019 12:35 AM PST So what happens when I bring my iPhone to the apple store and get a replacement? Does the cellular plan get transferred to the new phone when I restore from back up, or do I need to re-activate with the carrier myself? My plan is with t-mobile post pay, and I only activated the e-sim through a 'hack' as they technically only support e-sim on prepaid plans. My worry is that I won't be able to activate the new e-sim on my replacement phone, as rumors are saying t-mobile is refusing activation on e-sim on postpaid plans. Anyone have this experience? thanks a lot. [link] [comments]
How well does ad-blocking work on iOS? Posted: 27 Jan 2019 11:04 PM PST I'm currently using Android: Adblocking works fine in 3rd party browsers such as Brave, but all of the apps that use Google's Chrome browser for rendering don't block any ads. How well does adblocking work in Safari? If I add a content-blocker, does it only work in Safari itself? Or does it also work if other apps use Safari to render pages? [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jan 2019 03:32 AM PST I had the leather Apple case on my X for 12 months, and to try tide me over for another 12 months before my contract expired and the iPhone 'XI' came out I chose to remove the case for that 'new phone feeling', and it was great while it lasted... about 3 months all up. WhIle I'm normally very good I unfortunately dropped and cracked the screen, so have ordered the iPhone XS Max as my plan allows early upgrades at a decent rate. My dilemma is that I now love the naked phone feeling, but recognise that a case is the smart way to go. I've put the leather case back on my X and it just feels too bulky, especially given the XS Max will be even bigger in size. So for you obsessive folk out there like me, what's the best slim case out there that won't sacrifice size/form factor too much? [link] [comments]
keeping icloud imessages up to date on two iphones? Posted: 28 Jan 2019 08:58 AM PST Hey all. So long story short i like to switch between my iphone x and my iphone SE every week or two for various reasons i won't get into. The process is usually pretty easy and simple, i pop in my simcard to the other phone, verify whatsapp which takes 30 seconds total, repair my apple watch and restore from a backup from earlier in the day, which takes just 10 minutes while im doing something else, really not a hassle overall. The only annoying thing is iMessages and more importantly iMessages synced in icloud. Even though I have both my phones with Messages in iCloud settings turned on, the phone that i am NOT using will never get the messages synced with the conversations that I am getting on the active iphone. For instance, I use my iphone X then 2-3 weeks later I go to my iphone SE, pop in the sim card and everything, and the imessages convos i had over the three weeks on my iphone x dont show up on my SE. or vice versa, even if i keep the SE turned on and on wifi for the three weeks i was using my X, ive even tried that. I even tried setting up the 2nd iphone as a source for text message forwarding like i do when i want my imessages to go to my ipad as well, to no avail. Is there any way to have imessage conversations actually up to date on two phones? maybe not in real time since only one has a sim card at a time, but at least when i switch, it should sync! any advice? Posted: 28 Jan 2019 08:56 AM PST How do I mark a message as spam on iPhone? I keep getting spam messages and I have no idea how to block it like I used to on my Samsung Edit: Messages app Screenshot: http://imgur.com/qQrAbTs [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jan 2019 02:04 AM PST Hello everyone, I got an iPhone X, and it has a pink tint on the left side of the screen (just the edges). It´s only visible when white background is used. I wanted to know if this is a common issue or should I return the phone? Disabling True Tone does not seem to improve much the situation. Thank you very much. [link] [comments]
Switching from the White Smart Battery Case to the Black one, and why. Posted: 27 Jan 2019 08:04 PM PST Exactly a week ago I walked into the Apple store to try out the new smart battery case for my white iPhone X. I ended up buying the white smart battery case and I couldn't be happier with how it looked in my phone. A week has passed and you guessed it, it is already staining on the battery portion of the case. I've been told that's what happens with apples silicon cases, I don't know why I thought this would be different. So tomorrow I'm going into the Apple store and exchanging my white one for the black one. It sucks because truly the white one looks better imo but for $130 ($138 after taxes), it's not something you just buy again for appearance reasons.. This post is to warn anyone who normally don't buy $130 cases, buy the black one. Because in 2 weeks, your case will look horrible. Thanks for taking your time to read this! [link] [comments]
Should I upgrade to an iPhone 8? Posted: 28 Jan 2019 03:34 AM PST I currently have an iPhone SE, I've had it for almost 3 years now (it will be 3 years in April). I'm thinking of upgrading to an iPhone 8, mostly for the increased screen size and the better camera. I'm not that of a power user and I quite enjoyed the smaller screen (the main reason I got the SE in the first place). So should I upgrade now, or wait on the next one? [link] [comments]
Can’t send sms to one contact but can with others Posted: 28 Jan 2019 08:20 AM PST Hi, it's been a good time that I can't send sms to my friend( he's the only one that I can't send sms to) Normally, if I don't have wifi and "select" a message, I can choose to send as text message but with my friend, I only have "send to email address". https://drive.google.com/open?id=17pd-VgqFbQ1lX6T7sKbPgQxGgGCGYgMH He also has an Iphone and it seems I can only received his texts only when I get wifi (through IMessage) Thanks in advance! Posted: 28 Jan 2019 07:38 AM PST I was on a call and needed to add my wife to it. So I did the whole add/merge thing and created a conference call...no sweat. However I then needed to leave the call but I was afraid that if I pressed "end" that it would the entire call and not just my line. Can anyone tell me how I could go about bowing out of a conference call that I initiated? [link] [comments]

Another XR vs 8+ purchase decision thread... TIA Posted: 28 Jan 2019 10:37 AM PST It really comes down to the camera. I love taking photos for fun and I take a lot of pics when wilderness backpacking and traveling. My (former) setup was an iPhone 7 (RIP) and Moment lenses, but understand those may not be necessary with the 8+ dual camera setup. I typically take a lot of photos of landscapes (not so much wildlife), so those big sweeping wide angles are a must. I'm hesitant on the 8+ because the XR has better battery life, larger screen, and would fit better into my hands and pants pockets. Would I really notice a difference photo-quality wise between the XR and 8+? [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jan 2019 10:35 AM PST Hi everyone! I'm coming from a SE. I'm looking to upgrade my phone primarily because of the camera. I have a 6 month old and want to print out clear photos max 8x10. Right now the photos appear soft in the details at this size. With either the XS or XR do you think I would be able to take sharp enough photos for this goal? I have a DSLR (canon 70d) which takes great photos but it's often not within arms reach. I am leaning toward the XR due to price point... but willing to spend the extra 250 if the photos would be better. I don't care much about the screen. Thanks for the advice! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! [link] [comments]

Wired 3.5mm earphones recommendations? Posted: 28 Jan 2019 10:12 AM PST I had to buy a lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter for my Xr as I prefer using wired earbuds as a back up plan when the battery on my Anker Bluetooths are low on battery so I'm wondering what wired earbuds do you all recommend buying?
