| Mojave - Now this hurts - Apple removes Jabber from Messages Posted: 03 Oct 2018 03:14 PM PDT I hate using web based Google chat but we use Google chat for internal organization messages. I was very happy using Messages with a Jabber account - it worked perfectly. After I upgraded to Mojave I was bamboozled why I couldn't get my Jabber contacts to show until I realized Jabber was completely removed. No more Accounts under Messages > Preferences. Wish I thought of checking earlier - I might not have upgraded. Anyways anyone else in this situation I've switched to Adium (yes, that classic) which is working fine. Maybe it won't be so bad. When I try to download something, I see the error message "Your purchase couldn't be completed. Cancelled." | On reboot or shutdown, my mac resets to sometime in the previous day Posted: 04 Oct 2018 01:45 AM PDT So, this is highly frustrating and actually causing me to loose data. I have an iMac (18,3) running macOS Mojave, build 18A391. Whenever I reboot or shutdown, my user profile is resetting all files/content/settings to some-point in the last 24 hours. This is causing me to loose work and complete trust in the machine. I don't have "restore windows" checked, I don't use time machine and any time I do reboot/shutdown the process takes the same amount of time as usual and presents no issue until I reach the desktop, in which instead of being presented with a fresh desktop, I'm presented with one that looks like I've just resumed from sleep - but not the state in which I shut my machine down in, but instead a random point in which I was working at in the last 24 hours. I wouldn't mind so much, but this is actually losing files and preferences. I'm going to do a fresh re-install this morning of Mojave, but I was mildly concerned as I also couldn't find anyone else having this issue. [link] [comments]  | ||
| Curious problem with streaming services, MacOS Mojave and my bluetooth earphones Posted: 04 Oct 2018 01:21 AM PDT [Please move/copy/share my post to whichever other relevant SubReddit if needed] Dear all, Since the MacOS Mojave update, my mac is behaving quite weirdly. During work, I usually listen to music through Spotify and watch YouTube videos during my breaks. In order to not disturb my colleagues, I have a Bluetooth Earphone (RHA MA750 Wireless) to listen to music. Until the MacOS Mojave Update, everything was fine and I could listen to music as well as working online at the same time. My normal online bandwidth is around 20Mbps DL, 7Mbps UL and a ping between 80ms and 90ms (so it's okay). The ISP is Deutsche Telekom Business. Though since the update, as soon as my Bluetooth earphones are connected and that I listen to a streaming service like YouTube or Spotify, my DL rate drops at 0.2 Mbps, my UL rate drops to almost non-existent and my ping explodes at 900ms. My questions here are: - Does anyone has the same problem? - Is my mac infected by a malware that redirect the listened stream?

| Posted: 03 Oct 2018 10:18 AM PDT I've upgraded to Mojave and it was working good for couple days, till the performance of my computer becomes super laggy and it's impossible to work with it, the installed apps are so slow, when i check the activity monitor it said sometimes the kernel_task is using high load while i just turned on the computer and the system is idle, Note that my battery cycles reaches 1050 and i got warning about the condition (Replace Now) I read on internet that when the battery cycles reaches 1000 the MacOs the system reduces CPU performance. | Can't sync to o365 from Mojave Posted: 03 Oct 2018 02:45 PM PDT My desktop iMac has these weird gremlins, one of which is my Exchange/o365 account won't work. I noticed some new contacts I added on my phone weren't syncing, so I deleted the Exchange account in System Prefs - Internet Accounts, and now when I try to add it, I authenticate just fine (we use duo for 2 factor, which works, so I know it's not an auth issue) and then when my contacts start to sync, the account disappears completely. Over and over. And I even looked at my MBP and it shows up there, then disappears at the same time. I tried doing CMD-R at boot, and doing Reinstall OS, and it's exactly the same as it was, I just wasted 45 minutes. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Posted: 03 Oct 2018 05:14 PM PDT Hey all, I wanted to install Mojave today but decided to do a clean reinstall first. After reinstalling High Sierra, I went to then download/install Mojave. I must have accidentally clicked to use FileVault and now my Mac is doing the encryption process so I'm not able to install yet. It says time remaining: 13 Hours Is there any other way to stop this rather than starting the reformatting process over again? I'd rather not wait that long to use Mojave. Thanks! | How to extract video from mkv? Posted: 03 Oct 2018 05:02 PM PDT Am I missing any essential app for extracting workable video from MKV files? I.e. something I can either recut or cut to gifs? Currently I use AnyMP4 (free, App Store) to cut and convert to MP4, or Lossless Cut (free, GitHub) if I want to cut first, then convert. Both are terribly bad with the UIs, as the cutting interface is slow and quickly turns into a complete headache. I end up doing loose cuts and opening them with Quicktime so I can use its trim edit. The situation has been like this for years! Any MKV player is 10 times faster than any cutting interface in a mac video converter. Don't even get me started with Handbrake and its endless menus. I see all kinds of edited video (from tv shows or films) all the time on Youtube, so how do people do it on the mac? I do the miss the one-app-does-it-all appeal of Quicktime 7 + Perian, but even that is too slow (and macs have gotten way faster!). As a final note: I found out that using Gif Brewery's screen recording actually quickens the gif making process, since I can use the video player directly. | Posted: 03 Oct 2018 12:55 PM PDT Where can one easily get a copy of the High Sierra installer? I have a older MacBook Air I'm having trouble getting Mojave ok and want to get a USB bootable installer going but the Mac I have is running on Mojave so it keeps saying I can't download High Sierra so I'm stuck in a loop. The Air runs a fusion drive so separately anyone having luck getting fusion drives working with Mojave? I have 128GB onboard HD and a 128GB SD card. EDIT To add more to this I'm getting an error and install loop. The error is generic and says that there was an error installing and gives a (com.apple.DiskManagement error -69854).
