    [News] Fake Unc0ver Alert

    There is a fake Unc0ver jailbreak called unc0ver(dot)com (The dot is a . Only did that to avoid putting a link to it)

    It claims to jailbreak iOS 7-12 it is FAKE and will have you install a fake Cydia profile to your device that will from what others reported is permanent (to some extent) and it will track certain things and also try to steal certain info.

    It is a very clear scam if you know what your looking for.

    Do NOT Download the fake cydia from it there currently isn't even a iOS 12 Jailbreak that should be a red flag.

    Share this around please and warn others as they might fall for it.

    I didn't personally fall for it but someone on reddit and one of my friends have so I wanted to make a PSA about it.

    No, serious. If any dev could come up with a viable way for doing this, it would really cement the community. Making friends, clicks, it would really help us help each other.

    And no, this isn't a sappy crap story. Look at Steam, look at it's marketing genius, then look at how long it has had steam gifts. Sometimes it isn't about creating something new, but making something old a thing. We don't have app gifts (apple), but why not Cydia gifts?

    Just a thought people, might even help some who otherwise wouldn't be helped (or experience the joy). Just a thought.

    [Discussion] I put this together to prove how your battery test is incorrect

    Disclaimer

    Before starting this post let me start by saying that I have no bias for either jailbreak and I am third-party observer for all intent and purposes.

    Why your battery test is invalid

    Let's start off with common mistakes and things to improve:

    • Your device is always looking for celluar and wifi networks (unless on low power but we will ignore this for this post). This can change as your phone is looking for different access points and if you work at big company or you use your school network swapping between the networks is done automatically doing handoffs but your phone is working behind the scene finding the best wifi network to connect to.

    • What you define as normal usage can change from a day to day basis depending on many different factors including but limited to content viewed, network connectivity, time spent in certain apps, headphones used, brightness level of the screen (which auto adjusts), what the temperature the device was kept at (yes this matters) and on and on.

    • Posting a battery graph doesn't give you insight into what is really going on in the device. If you want to start to get more scientific then post all the percentages of what apps are causing that dip. (Yeah the stuff under that nice pretty graph)

    I want to conduct a true battery test comparing the two jailbreaks

    Awesome and I applaud you for your curiousness for the truth. A great starting pointing is looking how most battery tests are conducted. For example tom's guide watches a video at 54% brightness and streams the same video on the same wifi network. This is a highly controlled environment which then you can make your claim to fame for some of that sweet sweet karma on reddit.

    In conclusion:

    Don't be this dude and instead think about this in the most logical way possible and perform your own tests.

    [Tip] Unc0ver running on ios 11.1.2 - Async Wake User’s guide for unc0ver RC6

    For those who have struggled with switching to unc0ver on ios 11.1.2 like me. Here are the steps that resulted to my success.

    • Download delectra https://github.com/KirovAir/delectra
    • Save it to your phone via ssh or whatever other ways (root folder "/" or wherever you prefer)
    • Ssh to your phone and run sh unjailbreak.sh
    • Optional: run electra jailbreak and look for error: to.panga (This confirms that you have everything right up to this point)
    • Last, run unc0ver jailbreak using AW mode. (This required me to run twice. It reached 48/48 and reboot at first try)

    **In case you dont know, this will remove your jailbreak and re-jailbreak it.

    I did this, this, and this. Sharing with you guys for the fun of homebrewing my own tools.

    Being a terrible script kiddie at heart, I helped out with FlashBack.

    What you need to know:

    • I'm resetting and restart from scratch to match Sam Bingner's repo along side with any requests people give. This restart should allow me to use a later iOS SDK and retry to compile things; Like mono that didn't work with the iOS 9 SDK with also to chance to recompile things with libc++ (and not libtdc++).

    • Everything can be found here as a archive

    • The planned restart date is 10/19, I'll be starting everything from scratch (unless I'm lazy/busy).

    Goals:

    • Support for lower iOS versions with the idea of using /usr/local for binaries and libraries, since the order of $PATH has it first (Take CACerts by uroboro for example) and it could be possible for older and newer binary of the same thing to coexist with correct linking.

    • More detail tagging and unified control file; I been wanting to do this for a long time since I could link to the man pages in the website field and a lot more.

    • Man pages for all packages that provide them, since they help with understanding certain commands. (I'm looking at you core-utils.)

    • Creating patches/diffs for future use, since saurik's telesphoreo has helped me and I hope I can give back like that. (Python3.6 simple patches/edits I used can be found in the archive).

    • Last one: Compiling with everything in, an example would be grep with pcre (regex) support.

    I made the switch from Electra to uncover and all I can say is I'm happy my phone feels so different from when I had Electra been using it for 3 days now and it always takes 1-2 tries to jailbreak I don't have to do anything extra everything just feels good
