    Hey /r/jailbreak,

    We've been discussing the rules internally and have come up with two changes to the rules, which are explained below.

    Removal of giveaways rule

    Until today, we had a rule that required entries to giveaways to require nothing more than a comment on the post to enter. We've decided to remove this rule because we feel it is too restrictive and it is up to the person hosting the giveaway on what is required to enter. The choice is then with the user if they want to enter or not.

    IMEI lock added to rule 5

    We've decided to no longer allow questions and posts on removing IMEI lock. This is because the lock occurs when the device is either not paid off fully from a contract and there are missed payments, or because the device is stolen.

    • UserActivityd (unloadUad)
    • Adtrackingd (unloadAdt)
    • Askpermissiond (unloadApd)
    • Rapportd (unloadRpd)
    • Nfcd (unloadNfcd)
    • Webbookmarksd (unloadWbd)
    • SafariCloudHistoryPushAgentd (unloadschpa)
    • Nanobackupd (unloadNano)
    • Videosupscriptionsd (unloadVSD)
    • Tipsd (unloadTipsd)

    Each one can be found on my new repo, as a script that once you install it, will unload the daemon immediately. And if you decide to delete it, I've included a prerm script with each one which means it'll delete everything that it has created. So the daemon will go back to working once you reboot your phone.

    Again, this is completely safe and doesn't modify any system files, you're just "unloading" it and not "disabling" it. Disabling a daemon permanently could cause serious issues so please refrain from manually renaming/deleting a daemon.

    Nope.

    should I install all of the scripts?

    Yes and no, what I suggest is that you keep an eye on CrashReporter, CocoaTop and DetailedPowerUsage, those daemons used to always show up there (I didn't just disable them for no reason lmao) so yeah decide what daemon is damaging you the most and unload it..

    are they really important?

    They could be for you.

    which ones are really so useless?

    tipsd and nanobackupd.

    what was your experience with these daemons?

    Videosupscriptionsd: that one is very well known lol, random freezes and reboots

    Tipsd: this one pissed me off when i woke up that day and found my battery dead, when i had left it at 80% so yea I didn't hesitate about unloading it.

    Also this applies for Tipsd, and the other daemons (except Videosupscriptionsd):

    All they used to do is that they'd run and crash every two seconds that's how I knew that something was wrong using cocoatop, and ReportCrash daemon would run with them as well, trying to figure out what crashed each one and I'd end up having a party of daemons in DetailedPowerUsage, which was resulting in a poor battery life.

    can a tweak be causing this?

    Yes. I have recently found out that a tweak for a web dark mode was causing 4 of those daemons to go crazy. (There are two tweaks for web dark mode and I'm not gonna mention it cause I'm not trying to bash anyone, but if you have the one i mean you can check;) they're Useractivityd, Webbookmarksd, Askpermissiond and Adtrackingd.

    Will this work with unc0ver too?

    Yes but I have only tested on electra. Just install the tools I mentioned and see if you actually need to unload them or not. And you don't need unloadVSD on unc0ver because as the developer said it makes it work in jailed state and doesn't touch the jailbreak, unlike electra and VSD, they don't play nice together.

    P.s. at the end of the day you're doing this at your own risk but again this is not like manually renaming or disabling a daemon as you can revert everything back by simply uninstalling..

    My experience with electra has been great so far and I've always wanted to share this, but doing it the manual way was a bit confusing so I decided to make them into packages that are easy to install and remove.

    My tip: install what you need only. Do not unload a daemon just because i have it unloaded, but do it because the daemon is actually damaging you, whether it's hurting your battery or your cpu it'll always show up in the tools I've mentioned.

    Note: the possibility of you messing something up is literally 0 and I'm not kidding. Your device stopped doing something because you unloaded this or that? Simply delete this or that and reboot, everything will be back to normal..

    Edit: Don't install unloadRpd or unloadNfcd if you're not having problems with nfcd or rapportd.

    [Release] A Useless Package Manager (AUPM) - Beta 12

    Hey /r/jailbreak! We skipped a couple betas (from 7 to 12) but I've made some cool improvements that I thought y'all should know about.

    To preface this whole introduction: this is a beta release and is no means a final product. I'd appreciate any and all feedback you guys can provide in order to help me out with bugs and other things (as I currently don't have a jailbroken iOS 11 device).

    Here is everything that has changed from beta 7 to beta 12

    - Fixed a nasty crash that some users were experiencing on iOS 11 due to database write permissions

    - You can now queue packages for installation/removal. Press the X to close the queue (and keep packages in the queue) and swipe to delete any packages that you want to remove from the queue. You can view the queue from the packages tab.

    - Fixed an issue where AUPM would show an update to some packages (mainly Erica Utilities) when there really wasn't one.

    - Fixed a crash when adding the Modmyi repo.

    - New app icon thanks to /u/DrewPlex

    - Fixed an issue where the Packix repo wouldn't add all of its packages to the database

    - Launch storyboards for proper layout on all devices

    You can download it by adding my repo to Cydia https://xtm3x.github.io/repo and downloading the AUPM (BETA) package and launching AUPM from the home screen (if it doesn't show up, run uicache). The UI is also pretty lacking but I'm working on functionality before getting to any UI prettiness.

    TL;DR: Someone announced another Cydia alternative but this time there's actually something to test. I'd greatly appreciate your feedback/suggestions on AUPM (as it is probably very buggy, especially on iOS 11). Repo is https://xtm3x.github.io/repo. You can follow me on Twitter for updates @xTM3x.

    [help] (unc0ver) when I jailbreak my iPhone, it always gives me a message that says “notice your device will reastart” when it reaches to exploit 33/49. I am on RC 8 and I am using exploit AW (because I am on version 11.1.2. Any help?

    Btw: I jailbreaked my device on first try on RC7 however, when I install tweaks it doesn't show up. So the people told to wait for RC8 and RC8 doesn't work. Any fix?

    Pwn20wnd tweeted the fix. I just did it and can confirm it worked for me.

    Turn off "Disable Auto Updates" in unc0ver settings before jailbreaking with RC8. After doing that once you can re-enable "Disable Auto Updates" and the next time you jailbreak it should remain fixed.

    Here's a breakdown of my experience;

    Was on Electra, didn't have storage bug
    Switched to unc0ver RC6 and had storage bug after jailbreaking
    Rebooted, jailbreak again with RC7 when it was released. Still had storage bug
    Today, I was jailbroken on RC7 with the bug. I rebooted into stock iOS, downloaded unc0ver RC8, turned off "disable auto updates" and jailbroke with MP. After jailbreaking I checked storage and it took 5-10 seconds but it showed up correctly.

    [help] cant get past 24/49 on unc0ver

    i know this is probably like the 50th post of this that youve seen today, but now that i want to find them to see what the comments are i cant find them. i was originally on electra, then moved to unc0ver, but today used rollectra to start over and hopefully help my battery issue that ive been having. the jailbreak was removed but now i cant rejailbreak, im using rc 8 from a signing service. if i try and inmstall any other version manually with cydia imactor then its the other exploit which never works for me. i can rejailbreak with electra but if i remove it again i still cant use unc0ver. i will probably be going back to electra for now, because i guess i have to, but i cant tell if is hould just keep trying or rollectra broke unc0ver or something. it also radomly reboots right away at step 1, and sometimes gets to 24 then says it will restart. thankyou in advance and thankyou for taking the time to respond if you do since theres so many of these post

    [Help] Cant rejailbreak with Electra 11.0-11.1.2

    Used ElectraRemover to remove all jailbreak files and now im always stuck at 2/3 when running Electra. I tried unc0ver with no success(I tried switching from Electra to unc0ver) which is why i wiped all jailbreak files. Any solutions?

    [Help] Random Freezes on unc0ver. Info below.

    Well ever since I jb'ed with unc0ver I've had not had a single issue except random freezes. I tried using unloadVSD but that's not working so idk what else to do. Here's my tweak list.

    Please let me know if it's anything else. I checked CrashReporter and can't find anything.

    Still can't get passed the "device will restart" page, restarts then I wait a minute and press jailbreak and it'll either crash and restart phone or say the same "device will restart" pop up again.. anyone else have this issue? And yes I've searched up and down for a fix
