Posted: 24 Jan 2018 08:04 PM PST Hey all, Just wondering if anyone would have any recommendations as to what the best alternative to MS Project for Mac would be. It seems like MS Project is the standard in business, but I have seen a lot of different applications that's seem to have way more functionality than just creating a plain old Gannt Chart. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Again, posting this here because I don't think you can even get MS Project on Mac, as I didn't find any torrents, and because I would like to test the waters and see if there is something better out there for this type of scenario where I want to use a Gannt Chart, but have even more functionality past that. I don't know what functionality, because I don't really know what else is out there. I have seen something for Monday.com, but I am not a fan that it is a web-based application. Preferably looking for actual software. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Jan 2018 12:40 AM PST This morning started the 11.13.3 update. It was downloaded from AppStore and installed without problem but, it stuck on account login like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wkbd91gp3bx5g7x/Photo%2025-01-2018%2C%2010%2027%2030.jpg?dl=0 I tried everything I can: Restore from last backup Reinstall macOS from recovery mode SMC reset... The only thing which remains is to do a clean install.... but f*ck. I have a MacBook Pro 2016 version [link] [comments] |
nvidia webdriver for latest security patch to 10.11.6 (15G19009) broken due to bad URL. Posted: 24 Jan 2018 06:08 PM PST The XML returned by https://gfe.nvidia.com/mac-update shows a new build for 15G19009, but the hostname in the URL doesn't exist. Seems they decided to put the new builds on mac.nvidia.com, but forgot to publish a DNS entry for it. :( If anyone from nvidia happens to see this, could you maybe fix that? [link] [comments] |
Cannot install any MacOS update after v. 10.13 Posted: 24 Jan 2018 02:20 PM PST I haven't been able to install 10.13.1, 10.13.2 and 10.13.3. Every time I try to install the update, it downloads the package, runs the installation and reboots as usual. I'm running MacOS on a MBPr Late 2013. I've tried installing via the app store, downloading package from apple website and installing through terminal. I've also tried installing it in safe boot. I'm not getting any error messages, but when I check the current version stays at 10.13. When downloading the combo updates from the apple site, I looked for the correct file as there are different ones depending on current macos version. I've contacted Apple support and had shown them this screenshot of all the attempts. I was forwarded to a senior staff, but they were clueless and couldn't find a similar case. Basically, their solution was to do a clean install of High Sierra. Before I start wiping my macbook, I'd like to know if anyone is experiencing the same and if anyone has managed to solve this. Edit: forgot to mention my macbook version. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Jan 2018 02:15 PM PST I like Mail.app (and it's the only stable client currently working with ProtonMail) but I hate the shortcuts keys. Most email clients I've tested those days have either standardized or offer an option to use on the GMail shortcut keys, which are pretty efficient. Is there a way to change Mail.app shortcut keys to the Gmail ones? [link] [comments] |
It has been 4 months since the release of High Sierra. Is it still a hot mess? Posted: 24 Jan 2018 12:45 PM PST I've been putting of updating my MBPr 2015 model due to the horror stories I've read on here and HN. I was hoping someone could chime in and let me know if those issues are fixed? Specifically battery and random freezes. Cheers! [link] [comments] |
Mac Admin question regarding Mac Server OS and/or Jamf Posted: 24 Jan 2018 06:40 AM PST So due to the Intel security issues we have to upgrade all of the Macs in our company. Currently we only have about 15 Macs so it's not too bad, but we have everything on a pretty stable custom build of El Capitan. In order to be compliant with my Security team, we will have to upgrade everything to High Sierra and 10.13.3 when it releases. I am the only guy at my company that supports Macs and most of my knowledge is either trial and error or Google assisted support. I recently got to attended some official Mac OS based training and it looks like I can do some pretty amazing things and fairly easily using Mac OS Server. In the training class I took the teacher pretty heavily pushed Jamf as an option to manage all my Macs, to make images(blueprints) and then sort of just push those to new Macs to have our custom image loaded in just a few minutes. The way I have to image our Macs today is by having a "golden image" on an external SSD that I connect to a new Mac and then use disk utility to restore my golden image over the base image on the new Mac, then I just boot it up and do a few specifics like give it a custom computer name, domain join it, etc. My question is do i need Jamf to do this? It looks to me from some research I did on the internet that if I am using Mac Server OS I can create NetRestores that sound like basically the same thing I am doing today, only I can image it through the network instead of having to directly connect the SSD to the Mac via a USB->SATA cable. Any advise is appreciated and thank you! [link] [comments] |
