Posted: 07 Nov 2021 11:22 PM PST Hello, Why every time when connecting a mouse to mac os I need to set the scroll direction ? Otherwise its unnatural, you scroll down but the page in the opposite direction. After changing the scroll direction to the mouse and disconnecting the mouse, you have to change to scroll direction to the trackpad (different setting) otherwise the trackpad scrolling is now inverted. Why is this happening? Why when setting the mouse scroll direction sets the trackpad scroll direction too? Can't they be just individual settings since they have individual settings? It just seems stupid to have to install an app to have scrolling directions separated for mouse and trackpad. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Nov 2021 08:32 PM PST 2020 Intel MBP here. No hardcore usage, mostly some light Python coding on PyCharm for school. I just received the Monterey update notification today. Wondering if I should upgrade? I do need to use a particular Python version and the environment with specified libraries for school, so in case of bugs, reinstalling and factory resetting would be a pain in the rear in the middle of the semester. I am wondering if I should update now, or wait a few weeks till the end of the semester? Anyone experiencing any major bugs on Monterey? [link] [comments]

Question about installing windows 7 on an old mac Posted: 07 Nov 2021 08:15 PM PST I want to install windows on my old mac and BootCamp is not really working for me. If I make a windows bootable USB using balenaEtcher, will I be able to install windows that way? And if yes, will I be able to use drivers from Bootcamp? [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Nov 2021 02:08 AM PST Hi I've recently updated to Monterey and ever since I can no longer see notifications in the top right of my screen. For example if someone messages me on slack, whatsapp etc, there is a sound but no banner alert. I've checked all the settings in 'notifications and focus' for the apps in question. Any help would be appreciated, cheers! [link] [comments]
Macbook taking a long time to boot up Posted: 07 Nov 2021 09:18 PM PST Anyone experience this issue? This has been affecting me ever since I got my macbook and installed a ton of apps, but I just want to know if this is a normal thing as the apps take some time to load up. Sometimes it can take as long as 30-40 minutes just so that the MacBook is ready for me to use it normally. It's frustrating as sometimes I'm in a middle of an urgent work and need to reboot the machine because certain apps is not responding and I need to use it. I'm fairly new to using a Macbook so any advise or fix for this will be great. I have apps like, - Alfred - Bartender - Cleanshot - ItsyCalendar - iStats - Sophos endpoint - BetterTouchTool - Airbuddy [link] [comments]

Any idea how to change the "boot up" screen background? Posted: 07 Nov 2021 11:56 PM PST I know how change the login screen background by adding a lockscreen.png to the library/cache folder like this https://macreports.com/how-to-change-the-login-screen-background-in-macos-big-sur/ However, when the computer is restarted, the first login screen remains the default one in both Big Sur and Monterey. Only after logged in, the customised `lockscreen.png` will be displayed when you lock the screen (not restarting). Any idea? [link] [comments]
Help with audio input latency from Quicktime Player Posted: 07 Nov 2021 11:51 PM PST Hi there! My goal is to send all my sound into my mixer and then send it to my MacBook to play it. I'm using my old MacBook (mid 2010) which still works awesome nowadays as my main audio player and my mixer is a Behringer Xenyx Q802USB. The plan is quite simple and works so far, but my issue begins on the Macbook player. The only 'native' software I found that can play my input signal is QuickTime Player: sounds good, but there is like a 400ms delay quite annoying. I made a quick google and I found out about Audio Hijack software (legacy only in my macbook). In this software, there is no major latency, and works well. Aside from its price, I think offers quite too much for what I want. I feel like I'm using photoshop only for opening and watching a jpg image. I'd like to ask if anyone knows something more basic to simply play my input signal into my output signal. And if by chance there are system properties options for that, I'd be glad to know! Thank You very much :D [link] [comments]

Posted: 07 Nov 2021 11:19 AM PST So my M1 Max MBP came and I wanted to use my 2019 5K iMac as an external display. I was reading that using Airplay from Mac to Mac (new in Monterey) could work, with connecting via USB cutting down lag. I work in video production so using the new MBP to crunch the footage would have been ideal. However, when I got everything all hooked up, there was just enough to mouse lag to make the Mac to Mac thing unusable. I'm bummed about it because it would have solved all of my problems. Has anyone found a workflow that's worked for them? Edit: Got it to work over USB-C using this guy's video here. I put the screen mirroring icon in my menu bar, and then I turned off wifi to be sure it worked, and viola, screen mirroring. If I straight mirrored it from my 16" MBP, I got a pixel for pixel mirror on the 5K monitor (makes sense). When I set the iMac to be the "Main display", that's when I got to use all of the screen real estate. Downside is that there's still a little bit of lag. It's right on the cusp of being usable or not. It's a judgement call for me about my tolerance for lag. Additionally, the image, though still good, isn't quite as crisp as the iMac natively. I was doing this over a USB-C cable, and not a thunderbolt one. I'll have to order one and try it out. Maybe it'll reduce the lag. [link] [comments]

Posted: 07 Nov 2021 03:55 PM PST hello, just bough a Mac Mini and used some old USB perpherals lying around, including an old Logitech multi-button mouse. Seems like Logitech's support for Monterey right now is in shambles. Are there any utilities that can support generic multibutton mice? Mostly I just want middle click. [link] [comments]
[Monterey] Is dark mode broken for people or is it just me? Posted: 07 Nov 2021 09:22 PM PST Seems to be broken for the menu bar and the dynamic wallpaper. Wondering if I need to reinstall my macOS Monterey. Auto dark mode is broken, tried manually enabling dark mode/light mode through setting but nothing works. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Nov 2021 02:15 PM PST Is it possible to make an offline folder/archive in the native mail app like in Outlook? I have the feeling i am over looking something. As far as i understood using the archive button just puts the mails unsorted in an offline folder. My goal is to sort my mails in that folder/archive by topic and year. And export old stuff to my NAS every 1-2 years. I would prefer the native app, but i am open for recommendations. And if anyone knows, are those archives universal? I remember having trouble back in the days to import my archive from Outlook to Thunderbird. I would appreciate polite answers. [link] [comments] |
