Posted: 09 Nov 2021 07:06 AM PST Right now the Publisher is being a major asshat about things but I'm really hoping that feedback is reaching the developers because Luminaria is the first freemium game for mobile I think I've ever been so genuinely surprised by. I came in with reasonable expectations regarding the amount of effort in the game design and the storytelling. Tales of the Rays and Tales of Crestoria both had passably "Tales-esque" storytelling so I expected about the same but the approaches they keep taking for the characters keep surprising me and work very well with the short story aspect. The game's overarching design is what I'm really excited about. Not the combat or the UI, those need MASSIVE improvements. But every other gacha game I have EVER played boiled down to repeating the same task ad infinitum with only a minor degree of variation. I actually loved Mobius Final Fantasy but that was still just battle after battle connected by admittedly beautiful cutscenes. Even Genshin falls into the same loops of content. Luminaria may do the same because the open ended gacha model inevitably will tax creators towards making shortcuts. But for right now? I played Leo's first episode and was already surprised that each chapter was one seamless piece including a visit to an honest to goodness town. I thought I knew what to expect. Then I played August's chapter where only one of four chapters included storytelling. Every other gacha right now is moving towards automation. I couldn't bring myself to keep up with Nier Reincarnation because as much as I loved the visuals, the themes, the characters… the game was literally designed to just play itself 90% of the time. Luminaria is a mobile rpg that is actually designed to be PLAYED and that gives me hope even if it needs a lot of work. [link] [comments] |
Updated 11/9; List of Ongoing ‘Rare’ Sales Posted: 09 Nov 2021 07:01 AM PST -Note; subject to change at any time! AppRaven, Appsliced and Apphookup are great resources to find all kinds of apps on sale. Now please note that some of these titles simply changed their pricing structures (free to try with in-app purchase for the full game, or has now implemented ads for example) while others have permanently lowered the cost and technically aren't 'on sale', but the majority of these are discounted only for a short time and may cease at any moment. Posted: 09 Nov 2021 09:49 AM PST Seen it was just released on iOS and I'm dying for a roguelite game with permanent progression to play, albeit it seems like it's a very short lived game. [link] [comments] |
Can anyone remember the name of this game (used to play like 6 to 9 years ago on ipad) Posted: 09 Nov 2021 06:36 AM PST So its a runner game, the character has a blade and devils/demons appear on screen. We kill them while collecting coins, sometimes bosses appear and we have to time our swipes to kill those bosses. We can upgrade our swords and get stronger. Please let me know if anyone remembers the name [link] [comments] |
