- I am trying to play they sound from my apple tv to a portable speaker. The portable speaker works perfect with my iPhone. On the Apple tv screen it looks like it's working but there is no sound coming out of the speaker. What am I missing?

I have a pair of HomePod Minis attached to my Apple TV in Home Theatre Mode, and it just makes me wish that apple had a suite of home theatre audio products. With all of their Apple TV+ content supporting Dolby Atmos, it would be awesome to have a subwoofer and surround speakers that connect to the Apple TV, just like HomePods. [link] [comments] | ||

| TV keeps defaulting to Apple TV HDMI port Posted: 14 Nov 2021 12:16 AM PST Every time I activate my Game Time scene (TV + PS5 which is on HDMI 1), my TV (or the Apple TV?) defaults back to the Apple TV itself (HDMI 3). No matter what I do, the Apple TV HDMI port takes over, virtually nullifying the purpose of my Game Time scene. How can I fix this? | Bad stereo downmix in Apple TV app? Posted: 13 Nov 2021 11:00 PM PST Hi! I have my Apple TV directly connected via HDMI to my Stereo AVR (Denon DRA-800H). Audio is perfectly ok except in the Apple TV app where it's sometimes too low, sometimes too high making it necessary to adjust volume constantly. To me it seems like the stereo downmix somehow fails and eg the center channel isn't properly mapped to the left and right channel, but I might be mistaken. Already tried all the obvious settings (Audio Format to Stereo and Reduce Loud Noises) without any improvement. Signal is sent as PCM to the receiver Do you have any ideas? [link] [comments] | ||
| TCL 55R546 Wn’t Turn Off with Apple TV Remote Posted: 13 Nov 2021 11:06 PM PST Hello, I recently purchased a TCL 55R546 and after getting it set up connected my Apple TV. Everything is working besides being able to turn the TV off by clicking on the Sleep All Devices button; the Apple TV turns off but the TCL remains on and I get a splash screen telling me that there is no input detected. Turning the TV on works, volume works etc but I can't seem to figure out why turning it off will not. I have tried different HDMI ports on the TV and am using a known good cable; CEC is enabled on both devices and I am on the latest update on both as well. Would anyone have any suggestions? After the update last week the Apple TV doesn't stay connected to the app on the phone. When I click to connect to the appletv it has connecting issues 90% of the time. | Apple TV 4K green glitch on OS and YouTube Only Posted: 13 Nov 2021 12:17 PM PST Hey all; Setting up my first apartment, here's my setup to break it down: A Sony X85J 50" TV, which supports Dolby Vision and Atmos. A 4K Blu Ray Player that supports Dolby Vision and Atmos. A LG SN7R Costco exclusive 5.1.2 Atmos soundbar, being fed through a SHARC for eARC support for the above two items. (And I did notice this issue once or twice before I hooked up the soundbar, so it's not that. The SHARC goes into the input port of the soundbar, so no video is being passed through it) And a Apple TV 64 GB, with new remote/model from Costco And a PS4 Pro and Switch sharing a port on a splitter. The Apple TV is using the best possible cables I could find (Cable Matters 3-Pack 48Gbps Ultra... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081NXV3ZR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share), and passes the 2 min HDMI test with flying colors. And… I get weird (mostly green sometimes red) glitches on the bottom half of the screen erratically when on Screensavers, YouTube, and sometimes the Music app when it does lyrics. It does not seem to happen on any other app: Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon, etc are all fine. This implies to me that the problem lies with how the tvOS and YouTube handles graphics and or, an issue on how tvOS handles graphics and my TV. I've attempted the SDR/Match Content swap, and it works, but: A. The AppleTV never gives me that Dolby Vision badge, even when using 4K Dolby Vision B. The TV's picture settings switch to "Dolby Vision Bright" (with an option of dark) on all the apps I had no problems with… but does not do that for screensavers and YouTube. Doing a back and forth comparison… they look the same, but I can't be sure. C. Screen goes black going in and out of HDR content, and I occasionally lose a second or two of audio when doing so. I've attempted other ports, swapping cables with the one provided with my Blu ray player… and nothing. So my question is: is there other solutions other than 4K SDR and Match Content, and even though it doesn't show up as Dolby Vision for some reason, is it possible I'm actually getting Dolby Vision on the screensavers and YouTube? For the most part, I've found it to be a good indicator of both good and bad movies. Unfortunately, I've noticed that AppleTV+ movies don't have a Rotten Tomatoes score. Is this on purpose? | Atmos is not default in Netflix when using AirPods Pro Posted: 13 Nov 2021 06:45 AM PST I've been using my AirPods Pro for the Spatial audio and everytime I turn on my Apple TV 4K 2021 and play a supported movie in netflix, I don't get Atmos via the airpods pro. Only after I press& Hold the TV button on the remote, go to headphones and click on Spatial audio (that will be on but will usually say Stereo or 5.1) I will get Atmos. | Apple TV not working with OG homepods Posted: 13 Nov 2021 04:14 PM PST It's a pre 4K Apple TV. Whenever I send audio to any of my HomePods the picture freezes but the audio continues. If I revert back to tv speakers it plays fine but anytime I try to send audio to OG HomePods or even the mini it freezes. No clue on what is happening but I'm getting very close to walking away from all things Apple in my home. With the exception of my phones and watch. Anyone else experiencing this? | Posted: 13 Nov 2021 08:05 AM PST I'm having a frustrating CEC issue with my TCL Roku TV 75S535 and Onkyo TX/NR509 Receiver. I have the aTV hooked to the TCL, and hdmi ARC out from TCL to Onkyo (onkyo is old, doesn't support 4K HDR). All CEC enabled. The power button on the aTV remote turns everything on - great. Power off is where things get weird. Everything turns off at first when I hit the power again on aTV, but then the Onkyo turns BACK ON. This didn't happen when I was using just three TCL and Onkyo (TCL remote). As far as I can tell, it looks like when I power down with the aTV remote, the Onkyo shuts off immediately, and the TCL a second or two later. My theory: that small delay from the TCL sends the Onkyo another CEC power pulse, and that prompts it to turn on. But I don't know how to avoid it. Any suggestions? I think I could work around the issue if the aTV power button could be taught to power on the TCL via IR, but I don't see a way to do that either. Thanks! [link] [comments] | ||

After I watched Fitch and about 15 episodes of Ted Lasso, I get a message from Comcast to tell me that I am at 90% of my allotment. Holy cow, I run close to my Comcast limit but never over. This month may be the gratis month of overage I get….. I'll have to dial down the fidelity from AppleTV and see how it goes for the rest of the month. [link] [comments] | ||
