    Hi, I've upgraded to Monterey since it came out on M1 Macbook, now some APPLE apps doesn't seem to work at all. Like Notes, Sticky Notes, Reminders, Voice Memos, Keychain... Safari works, Facetime works. All third party apps work. It's so weird :/

    M1 macbook air battery life does not update

    So I've had my m1 macbook air for around a month now and It's been a pretty flawless experience other than a few keys that felt weird an this battery problem I can seem to fix. After two days of using the macbook, after charging the macbook then using it afterwards, it doe snot update the battery life, it stays at the same percentage unless I restart it sane for charging, after using the macbook than putting it to charge, it will not show the battery life going up unless I restart it. I've tried lots of things, have contacted Apple support, tried safe mode, factory reset, letting the laptop die, yes I have the latest update, Apple seems clueless about the solution, now I must admit, it might be because I used a third party cable (not charger) to charge it, but as far as I know only chargers can cause problems. Anyway Im looking for any tips or possible solutions, any help would be appreciated, thanks you in advance

    anyone know how to remove the white line on the edges of the window. some apps dont have it like on illustrator but on chrome its quite big and its buggin me. pls help

    Tempted to buy MBA 2020. Base model good enough?

    Hi,

    After going thru a lot of youtube videos like MBA vs macbook pro 13, macbook pro 14. I kinda see that there is no reason for me to overpay.

    Typical uses: regular browsing\internet, python coding in pycharm, trading (interactive brokers), audio recording in cubase (if I get MBA mb logic X).

    Also, I'm coming from dell xps 15 (2017 model). I know there is going to be a lot of getting used to, but since I own iphone and ipad pro, it all makes sense to wrap it up in apple ecosystem.

    So, only two questions: 1) would I benefit from 512 gb ssd \ 16 gb ram on MBA 2) what are typical issues I should look for in MBA, I heard about bluetooth mouse connectivity issues?

    Should i exchange my MBP 2020 for M1 MBA?

    So i have a base MBP 2020 i5-8257U 1.4GHz 8/256 which i got just before M1 released and I have had terrible buyers remorse since, so i have been thinking about exchanging it for a base MBA 7 core 8/256Gb for ~ 150£.

    I like the device it's superb. But the only thing i cant stand is how hot it gets normally during even normal tasks (it gets to 50/55 ºC when browsing the web or when watching youtube it can get to 60 º if its a 1080/1440p video). HDR/4k makes the device perfect for cooking so i never use that one.

    To manage the heat i have to use either battery saving mode, which takes a toll on performance ( Geekbench Single core score goes from 950--> 650 and MC score goes from 3950-->2900) or Voltageshift, which sucks at burst performance. And i've been pretty disappointed with this device for how much i spent on it.

    So would it be beneficial to upgrade to MBA M1 as a medical student( heat output mainly, battery life and ease of mind) or should i wait some more then reconsider?

    Is it possible to use 2 user profiles at the same time

    I am wondering if I can have 2 users created (one for work and another for personal) and have them both open at the same time on the same laptop. What I am hoping to do is to be setup to an external monitor and have my work profile on 1 screen, while my personal profile is on the other and just back and forth between them without having to logout of one and sign into the other. Is something like this possible? Either natively or through a third party app?

    What happeneds when I cancel Big Sur reinstall? I want to sell m y MacBook but everything is already deleted and signed off of iCloud. Do I need to reinstall it? Also don’t know why the Bar is so far it started out like this.

    Hey y'all! I really can't decide which is best to get.

    -I want the M1 Air (8 CPU/GPU, 512 GB and 16 RAM) because it is lightweight (I can take it anywhere like it's nothing) and has an amazing battery. These 2 things are already 2 reasons why I REALLY want this! The cons are that it lacks ports (dongles are just annoying) and doesn't have the new M1 pro chip (which is prob best for future proofing).

    -I want the M1 pro 14" base bc it has ports, new chip, and great display and camera. The major cons for me are that it's beefy and has less battery life. The battery in the air is better and really is what may be a deal breaker for me (yes, sounds dumb). However, this is a newer chip and newer tech and they won't really be making m1 chip machines but the newer m1 pro and max chips from now on.

    **I will be doing basic tasks such as writing papers, research, web browsing, watching movies, etc. I am trying to decide which is best for future proofing as well. The difference between the 2 machines is $550 (not a problem for me).

    Need suggestion for a solution to protect exterior of my overpriced MacBook Pro?

    Just bought an MBP 16 with i9 (yes, yes, I'm aware of M1 and have my reasons). Anyhow, this thing is a beaut and cost a pretty penny. So I need a case to protect it during use from scratches and possibly dings and drops (just in case). I'm not talking about a portable sleeve or bag. It's more to protect the device while I'm using it i.e. drop it from the table, or some deebre between table and bottom of MBP.

    Any suggestions?

    Some suggestions I got last time was basically stickers or skins. The latter is very expensive, and the former is not my style.

    I considered one of those shells, but I heard they damage the MacBook Pro.

    "Why not?" They say…. Well, because it says "4 days remaining"….. i guess my internet connection is just that shitty. 😩

    Or does anyone have experience with this, where it says an update will take FOREVER, and then once it hits a certain point the update finishes in the blink of an eye? Praying that'll be the case….. because I know that's happened to me quite a few times with iPhone updates before.

    Do you guys know any tips to help this download just a little, or a lot, faster? 🙏🏻

    I need your help dear MacBook community. How to properly set up a mouse on a MacBook Air?

    I connected my work mouse (a Microsoft ergonomic mouse) to my MacBook and it works weirdly. The scroll: it's not consistent, it's increasingly faster (the faster I scroll the faster it moves) so if I scroll once it can go to the bottom of the page not just one screen down. How do I set it up so it works just like on windows.

    It's scrolling speed increases logarithmically but I want a linear speed increase.

    What cloud service is best for MacBook (Air M1)?

    Hi Guys!

    I just bought an M1 MacBook Air and I have been using One Drive on it. This is because it gives me all the Microsoft apps, along with 1TB of cloud space, all for around 5 USD. What I usually do is put my documents and photos in the One drive folder and it syncs. What irritates me about One drive is the "naming system" where it sometimes doesn't recognise certain characters and makes me rename them. Otherwise, One drive is functioning smoothly. I had read horror stories about One Drive slowing down MacBooks but haven't noticed it (or maybe I am not experienced enough to notice it).

    Should I continue using One Drive or will it slow down my MacBook? Is there anyone who can vouch for it?

    If not, then what are the other good iCloud devices? I am considering iCloud (more expensive than drive) and Google drive (again more expensive than drive and I find the syncing to be a bit clunky).Of course, have never actually experiences these cloud softwares.

    Would also love your take on the new off beat ones like idrive and mega.

    M1 MBA vs M1 MBP (2020)?

    I'm hoping to get a computer that will last for a PhD in Psychology. I'll be running RStudio (maybe SPSS) but otherwise the majority of my data will be kept on Google Drive. Is M1 MBA (8 or 16gb RAM) or M1 MBP (8gb RAM) better? If I opt for the 16GB MBA or the MBP I probably won't get apple care immediately, as it will be just outside my budget, if that's a deciding factor for people. Thanks for any help, I'm clueless with computers!

    Brand new MacBook Air is very laggy

    I dumped water on my old MacBook Air which broke it so I decided to get a new one. It was brought out completely dead at the Apple store so we had to charge it for it to turn on. It also takes 4 hours to charge to full which I find kind of long. I have not downloaded any applications or files onto it yet, and have only used safari. My experience so far has been that the graphics on Safari are worse than on my old MacBook Air and it is extremely laggy and the mouse constantly lags behind where I move it. Is this normal?
