This works in both compact mode and separate mode but is probably more relevant in compact mode. Which also happens to be the superior mode. Fight me. (pls give it a chance)

    Focus should allow exclusions

    Posted: 12 Nov 2021 04:13 PM PST

I know this has been said before, but not sure where else to share. I just created a "weekend" focus to exclude slack and outlook from 7 pm Friday to 7 pm Sunday and 1) had to select all of the apps that I wanted included (so all but Slack and Outlook), then 2) had to select the days I did NOT want the profile to apply. So, the opposite of how the apps are defined. Makes no sense to me. Weird way to approach it imo.

    The Notification Center is terrible

    Posted: 12 Nov 2021 05:07 PM PST

Seriously, why does it look like my Lockscreen? Also the time and music control are way too big. Flashlight and camera toggle are also useless because you can get them in the control center. It should only show notifications and time/date with blurred background like the control center. What do you guys think?

How are you guys dealing with Monterey's memory leaks?

    Posted: 12 Nov 2021 01:21 PM PST

I'm sitting on idle just watching Netflix and using 25GB of ram from the 64 I have on my maxed out macbook pro.

I believe for those who don't have this much RAM this would be insanely annoying, have you guys found a solution besides just logging out and logging back which resets everything?

I for one are getting kind of annoyed as it's affecting me heavy when I actually have to render stuff for work unless I reboot or relog.

Can I still become osx grandmaster if I switch the command and ctrl keys?

    Posted: 13 Nov 2021 01:04 AM PST

Coming from windows, I decided to switch the command and ctrl keys on my macbook. However, I am afraid I will not reach full osx potential.

Do any advanced users switch the keys and are still able to perform on osx in all situations?

I really really really like that Apple sends you an email 1 month AHEAD before subscriptions automatically renew (let it be something from Apple or a 3rd party app)

I wish this was an industry standard thing and more services would do the same. This is really top notch and something you wouldn't expect but insanely helpful.

Is Apple trying to eventually unify iPadOS and macOS? After using an iPad Pro with magic keyboard (w/ trackpad) for a couple years I’ve been spoiled with the trackpad gestures. Just got my first MacBook Pro and already wishing the trackpad gestures were more like the iPad Pros :(

    Posted: 13 Nov 2021 12:33 AM PST

Anyone else feeling this? I realize some functionality/logic can't be mirrored from iPadOS gestures to macOS gestures but it doesn't mean I can't be a little sad about it :(

A couple minor examples from iPadOS I wish were in macOS would be: swiping down with two or three fingers for Notification Center; swiping up with three fingers to see all open windows/apps in one view & swiping up with two fingers to quickly close apps after hovering cursor over them in this same view.

Haven't used macOS in years (had an old PowerBook) but just got my first MacBook Pro so kinda learning how to navigate and workflow most efficiently. I wish it was more practical to write code on iPad :(

Why is the volume setting hidden so much

    Posted: 12 Nov 2021 04:54 PM PST

Like I always wanted my AirPods to be louder and today I look at the settings and I see that you can raise the limiter. I'm new to iPhone and on android it's as simple as turning the volume up and for a first time user it took me 3 months after getting the phone and using iOS for the first time to find the setting. I don't understand why it's so confusing to find. Idk. Maybe it's just me. But that's just how I feel on it. I was surprised how damn loud AirPods can get if you turn that ceiling up.
