    I've been on the hunt for an app which can track which apps/websites use up X data per day. Activity Monitor does just part of what I'm looking for, not so specific.

    I used GlassWire on my previous Win10. Free, ideally - or preferably a lifetime subscription app if there are any.

    Hoping to get a track on my data soon!🤞🏻

    Hi, I got a new 1TB SSD yesterday that I'm using to 1. Store my photos library and 2. Time machine.

    I understand I needed to format it as APFS to use Time Machine.

    I did that and all seems to be working well, I have 2 volumes one for my photos and one for time machine :)

    Question: If I look at the 'show info' both volumes state that have 1TB each. How can that be?

    iPhone and Mac messages not syncing

    If I read a message on my phone, it will still show up as unread on my Mac so I have to go into the message on the Mac to read it again. How do I fix this syncing issue?

    To clarify, I am recieving all my messages on both devices, the mac just isnt seeing when I read a message on my phone and shows it as unread.

    Logitech MX Master 2 customizations via Logi Options not working over Bluetooth

    Hello /r/MacOS

    As it says in the title, I have been having trouble with my Logitech MX Master 2 mouse connected via bluetooth with my mac. Specifically, the additional buttons and gestures which made the mouse so nice to use on mac do not seem to function when the mouse is connected via bluetooth. These options do function when the mouse is connected via the unifying receiver, but the mouse has other issues such as stuttering when connected via the unifying reciever that it does not have via Bluetooth. Note that when I first got the mouse a few years ago, these gesture and options all worked without any problem over bluetooth.

    I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Logi Options software, updating the firmware of the receiver, removing and adding the LogiOptionsDaemon from Input Monitoring and Accessibility from the Security and Privacy settings, and searching for the kexts in the Library/Extensions folder (I did not find any).

    I am running macOS 10.15.7 (I don't want to move to Big Sur, as I don't like the changes of the UI and visual style, so I will stick with Catalina as long as I can). MacBook Pro 16 (2019, base model).

    If anyone can help I would appreciate it a great deal!

    Why does "recents" tab in Finder not show my recent files!?

    In Finder, on the left hand side there is a "Recents" menu which consistently never shows my recent files. Eg. when I download a file, it's not there...

    Microsoft Edge has been removed after recent update of Big Sur. How is this possible?

    Hello, I have just updated my macOS to the most recent version along with Safari Technology Preview. My main browser is Microsoft Edge (switched from Chrome). After installation of the system update I have noticed that the icon in my dock and Launchpad has changed to the one from Safari Technology Preview, but the name was Microsoft Edge. When I clicked on the icon it loaded the Safari, I could not find Microsoft Edge anywhere, I was trying to use Spotlight, but after entering "Edge" it showed Safari instead.

    Is this normal behavior?

    On my MBA M1, before transferring my data from my old 2012 intel mac, I could play games such as among us and more mobile games. However once the data was transferred, the mobile apps wouldn't show up even when I selected the iPad and iPhone apps. Does anyone know a fix to this?

    Removing OS from external SSD and keeping data

    Situation:

    M1 MacBook air 256GB

    Main computer with macOS Monterrey beta (190/256GB used )

    External m.2 SSD with macOS Big Sur 11.5.1 (500GB /1TB used )

    I don't want to use my external m.2 drive anymore as another Operating system. I want to have the OS in my main machine and use the external M.2 as external storage only for games and data.

    How could I do this? Some files on my external m.2 drive exceed 100GB.

    macOS Big Sur fresh install starting at 70% done with 2 hours to go lmao. Drops back down to 35 minutes after a while, but why does the bar start like that? I’ve formatted the drive multiple times and it’s the same

    iPad app works fine on MBA M1 external display, but not on built-in screen?

    Hi guys,

    I'm running into weird behavior on my MacBook Air M1 with an iPad app called Seconds (it's an interval timer). The app runs fine when its window is open on my external display, but the second I drag it to my built-in Retina screen, it switches to the app's splash screen. It's instantaneous; I see it switch to the Splash screen *as* I'm dragging.

    (I get the splash screen problem with no external display connected too.)

    Is this some weird rendering issue with iPad apps on Big Sur? I haven't run enough iPad apps on my M1 to know if this is happening with other apps too. Everything's updated, and my LG display is connected via Thunderbolt. Thanks for any ideas!

    MacOS Big Sur Photos widget doesn't change photos?

    Anyone else having this problem? The photos widget in notification center just always displays the same photo. My phone's photo widget rotates throughout the day, but not the case on the mac.

    Do Not Disturb icon in Touch Bar is highlighted when I wake up the display

    I have DnD scheduled from 12am-7am and I've noticed that whenever I open my computer in the morning (after 7am), the DnD button on the Touch Bar is illuminated.

    DnD isn't on though, when I touch it, it stays lit up and then when I touch it again it goes away.

    DnD off, indicator on -> DnD on, indicator on -> DnD off, indicator off

    Does the MBP 15in 2017 (Radeon Pro 555) Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports support DP 1.4? Why does macOS disable the Refresh Rate dropdown in scenarios where other refresh rates would clearly work?

    I can't seem to find definitive answers to these questions.

    I am pushing a CRG9 at 5120x1440@60hz and that is the only refresh rate available as the dropdown is disabled. This is a bit confusing because, obviously, it could push 30hz. so why is it disabled?

    When I swap in my wife's M1 Air it pushes 5120@120hz without issue and the refresh rate dropdown is available.

    Anyone having luck, with this same hardware, at any refresh rate higher than 60hz?

    Removed apps from dock reappear again after shutting down.

    Hello! I apologize if this question has been asked already. I'm using Big Sur 11.1 on a 2015 iMac. I usually remove unused apps from my dock. However, recently, every time I shutdown my Mac and turn it on the next day, all of the apps reappear on the dock and I need to remove them again. Is there a fix for this? Any help is appreciated.

    Attempting to launch Google Chrome causes my 2012 Macbook Pro (Mac OS X, v10.8.5) to restart completely.

    I realize that complaining about a nearly decade-old computer being unable to run the current version of Google Chrome sounds a bit silly, but I know very little about resolving computer issues like this and if this is an actual problem and not just user error then I'd like to know how to fix it. I recently found my old Macbook Pro (Mac OS X, version 10.8.5) and tried to launch whatever version of Google Chrome had been on it, but as soon as the Google homepage loaded up the computer completely restarted. After doing some research I deleted the application and then redownloaded the most current version, but I believe that this only exacerbated the problem; now whenever I try to launch the app the computer restarts immediately. Strangely enough, this same thing happens with other apps such as Garageband and iMovie. Should I try to update the computer's operating system, or is there a way to resolve this without doing so? What other information could I provide that would be of use?

    Can a USB stick be partitioned to hold both a bootable recovery installer and misc files?

    So, just got my first Mac in like a good 10 years. An M1 Mac Mini. I plan on setting up time machine backups with my NAS. As a backup backup precaution id ALSO like to make a recovery USB. I have a few 3rd party, non appstore, apps id like to include on the stick itself. Is it possible to split a USB stick into two partitions where one is a bootable Big Sur installer while the other just holds files/apps?
