The MacBook (I have the M1 Air) touchpad is SO fucking good. Im amazed. Posted: 16 Aug 2021 11:56 AM PDT Coming from Windows laptops this thing is utterly amazing. So easy and intuitive to use. I recently found out (lol) that it uses haptics too so no moving parts really. I bought a bluetooth mouse to use with my MacBook and its honestly a less intuitive experience than using the touchpad haha. [link] [comments]

Can any of your talented people help me decide which mac to buy? Posted: 16 Aug 2021 10:32 PM PDT My bro recently started working as a business and marketing person in software industry and he is confused between MacBook air(M1, 2020) and MacBook Pro 13. In. (M1, 2020). His job mainly requires a long time browsing, creating data sheets, tools like Skype and occasionally xCode. He uses Xcode rarely though but it is required. Upon comparison, we found both almost the same except pricing and a couple of additional touch features. If there are other feature differences, please let me know. So if any of you people using either of these systems can suggest which one is best OR any issues they might have found after an upgrade? I have received lots of reviews that after a new OS upgrade their Mac became very slow. Is it true? Any suggestion or any guidance will be highly appreciated. I hope I am not breaking any rules to make this post. If that is the case I request mods to suggest me what I need to do to keep my post alive. [link] [comments]

Posted: 16 Aug 2021 01:33 PM PDT Hello, My wife and I are looking to purchase a secondhand Macbook for her home office. At work she has an early 2020 Macbook Pro 13" with the 1.1 GHz i3 8GB ram. She plugs it into two external monitors and KB/M. We basically want her to not really notice that the one that will stay at home feel "slow" compared to her work one which she is happy with the performance. Our house is well ventilated and air conditioned, not sure if that matters but I've just "heard" of Macbook Air's getting warm. She is an office manager with typically only Outlook and several Safari browsers open but nothing graphically or CPU intensive. Will being plugged in all day in a home office setting result in a Macbook Air to run too hot for too long and wear down hardware faster? What kind of year/spec Macbook Pro or Air should I expect for the 400-500 USD price range? And will being plugged in all day be at a detriment to the Air? I am currently looking at a 2014 MBP 15" with 16GB Ram and the 2.5 GHz CP for $375U and according to Geekbench benchmarks I can reasonable expect that CPU to perform as well as the new 1.1 GHz for her type of use. Can I expect to find a better deal than this? [link] [comments]

Posted: 16 Aug 2021 04:45 PM PDT I've been considering switching over to a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro with an M1 chip for work. I currently have a Dell latitude 5500 with an intel I5. I use just about all the office programs excel, outlook, teams and also Adobe acrobat pro. Would this be a smart move or should I just stick with my Dell. [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Aug 2021 04:11 PM PDT Hi all, I've got a 2017 MacBook Air. Was connected to the charger and plugged into a 120V outlet on my boat. Started my generator and flipped power on and I think I got a power surge and bricked my Mac. The MagSafe doesn't indicate it's charging and the MacBook won't power on. Any suggestions? Posted: 16 Aug 2021 11:33 AM PDT Hi all, Just an enquiry for peace of mind. I got a 2015 Macbook pro from a reputable refurb site and when plugged in it vibrates slightly, when anything else powered is plugged in (musical keyboard, audio interface) the same happens. When using a mains powered audio interface there is horrible buzz and when using a bus-powered audio interface the buzz is there when the charger is plugged in. I sent it back to the people who sold it to me who said they knew the issue but couldn't fix it so replaced the unit. The same problem is present so I've emailed them. But I just wanted some peace of mind before I decide to ditch Apple all together because this problem persists wherever I plug in (the place suggested my own plugs were not properly grounded but this is a problem anywhere I've been) and I figure it's not worth the hassle given choosing a macbook was for portability. Anyone have any thoughts? [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Aug 2021 02:37 PM PDT I have a gold 2017 Retina MacBook with a Core i5 and a cracked LCD. I want to take the logic board board from the 2017 model and swap it for the logic board in my other silver 2016 Retina MacBook with a Core m3. Does anyone know if this is possible or done it themselves? [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Aug 2021 06:58 AM PDT I'm starting 2nd year of college and since my schools computers are shit I was thinking about buying a 2017/2018 MacBook 12". I was wondering if there is some stuff to watch out for with these, apart from the keyboard, which I know some people have problem with? [link] [comments]
Did I reduce the life of the battery ? Posted: 16 Aug 2021 02:21 PM PDT Hello Macbook enjoyers, I bought a Macbook Air M1 2 days ago and yesterday I did a mistake : I put the Mac on my windows laptop which was charging (for 3 hours). I though it was off but no. When I removed the Mac it was quitte hot to touch (between 45-50 celsius degrees) but when I opened the lid it woke up as usually. Do you know if the mac shut itself in sleep mode if it detects too much heat or if any effect could have been done ? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
TimeMachine Backup - Shared Folder Posted: 16 Aug 2021 02:12 PM PDT Hi, TimeMachine is stopping while the MacBook Pro (macOS Big Sur 11.5.2) is in sleep mode. TimeMachineBackup location: Shared Folder on another ... macOS device (Big Sur 11.4). Note: Power cable plugged in and "Power Nap" is enabled ... so it should be able to complete backups. Any idea why it stops? [link] [comments]
Help! MacBook Air charging issue Posted: 16 Aug 2021 09:39 AM PDT I've looked everywhere for a solution and I can't seem to find one. I just got the basic model MacBook Air. I plug in the charger and it does nothing, when I unplug it from the outlet and back into the wall it charges for like 3 seconds then stops charging. Has anyone else experienced this? Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]
