| MacBook Air won’t turn on, no charging Posted: 16 Aug 2021 08:18 PM PDT Hello, so I have a late 2017 13" MacBook Air which currently has macOS 11.2.1 software. So the other day I used boot camp to turn my mac into a windows computer and back into OS (done for some engineering stuff Apple doesn't support). When I first got it, it worked like a charm. I only recall using it twice before these issues begun. After switching from windows to OS it booted fine then crashed the next day and wasn't turning on properly. Fast forward to Saturday last week and it did this again but this time the mac wasn't responding at all after it's crash. I did the (control, shift, option, and power) and the (command, option, p, and r) but it still didn't seem to be responding. Then 5 minutes later it booted up out of the blue. Then about 10 minutes after it turned on my max unfortunately fell around 3 feet off my bed. This is the first time it has ever been dropped and it was still functioning and powered on when I picked it up. Then the next day (today) I woke up and it was once again shut down and won't turn back on. I tried the same as before nothing happened. When plugged into its charger the chargers light is not on. | what to do when water pools under your keyboard Posted: 16 Aug 2021 10:09 PM PDT (Retina, 13-inch, 2018) Before buying a new one or attempting to scam some poor kid on ebay, try this TL;DR: low heat hairdryer on keyboard of mac for 1-2 hours then tent position/silica gel for 48 hours- a week [NSFW TMI BACKSTORY] >!so today i lost my phone, but i am a horny teenager and wanted to jack off. so i brought my macbook into the bathroom and went to town. this was a bad idea.!< i ended up spilling a little water on my keyboard and it stopped responding. i tried clicking it, i tried smashing all the keys at once, i tried restarting it, i tried shutting it off and rebooting it, and i tried pushing the "but nothing worked. And when it seemed like all hope was lost, i remembered that annoying thing that happened whenever i accidentally triple clicked the power square. my trackpad and black power square still worked though so i triple clicked it and enabled the mouse keyboard thing then i used that to look up what to do, and i found a comment saying it might just be water pooled under my keyboard and that it might fix itself in a week. So I got a hairdryer, put it on low heat, then dried it out, and in 1-2 hours it was once again up and running And now im not really sure what to do, i probably should shut it down, put silica gel on it and leave it in a tent position for a week, but im short sighted and impatient, so i wont be doing that and will hope for the best [link] [comments]  |
| Duplicate notifications on iOS and MacOS Posted: 16 Aug 2021 06:20 PM PDT Is it possible to clear notifications on both platforms at once? Like if I get a text on my phone, I get the notification, I read it, notification goes away, but then I open my computer 3 days later there's still a notification for that text there. Can I prevent this? Does this make sense, I'm having a hard time finding the right words to describe what's happening. I swear this used to be default behavior and maybe works in reverse? | Ipad Disabled. Connect to iTunes. Posted: 16 Aug 2021 05:32 PM PDT IPAD A1458, 4th gen. Its my aunts old iPad, or rather one of them. I do not know why but she has 3 or 4 and they are all always plugged in and not being used. She got this one years ago off ebay for like 40-50 bucks, I think it was from a library or something. Anyway about a year or so ago it locked up and said "iPad Disabled. Connect to iTunes." After much trouble then I found out that you could not just plug it back in to a pc. It had to be a previously trusted PC/Mac for that device. You had to download a thing from iTunes that would either wipe the iPad to new or restore from a saved copy from your iTunes back up. The thing I needed from iTunes died trying to download like 5 times before it worked. I was able to restore it to new. Now she today she gives me the same iPad and says its locked again in the same thing. "iPad Disabled. Connect to iTunes." Trouble is she has a new pc (my moms old one windows 10) and we reformatted my aunts old pc and gave it another lady in her building. Is there anyway that I do not know of to just reset it to new or is this iPad a lost cause? Like I said she has like 4 more laying around. And nothing of importance is on this iPad. | How to delete native email account from iPhone Posted: 16 Aug 2021 07:11 PM PDT I am leaving my company, which originally provided the phone I am using (iPhone 11). I am keeping the phone since it's paid for, but I cannot delete the native email account from my mail app. They cut off my access to my account, so I am constantly getting a pop up notice to re-enter the native email password, and it's driving me insane. Every time I go to mail->accounts it allows me to option to delete my personal Gmail account, but my native work email account doesn't give me the "delete account" option. | My Airpods are Being Janky and I Don't Know What to Do PLEASE READ I'M DESPERATE Posted: 16 Aug 2021 07:02 PM PDT Today I've been having issues with my airpods cutting in and out. They worked fine earlier today but now they don't. I've tried everything and looked up as much as I could. They're fully charged, I put them in the case for 30 seconds, disconnected my bluetooth and forgot them on my device. I even restarted my phone multiple times! Only now, after doing that they show up on my phone as all these weird numbers and symbols and won't let me connect to them. I don't know what else to do! I have read the article on apple's website about how to use Split View mode, but am unable to do so. I tried dragging the top bar of my app that was in slide over mode to the center as suggested, but it does not switch to Split View. I have also enabled the settings for Multitasking and Gestures. | Is it possible to use iPad as external monitor AND webcam on macbook Posted: 16 Aug 2021 01:29 PM PDT I know and have hooked up my iPad as external monitor using AirPlay and lightning / USB-C cable. I'm wondeirng if it's possible also use the camera on the iPad while connected. The reasoning is, I would use the extended monitor as the screen to place the video chat window. | Macbook Air 2018 (A1932) display randomly goes black Posted: 16 Aug 2021 05:10 PM PDT Last week, I dropped my laptop onto hardwood. It landed open with the screen/keyboard side down! It was working fine right after the fall and I continued to use it for hours. The next day, I was using it and the display went black. Some things I noticed:
I'm considering picking up some screwdrivers and checking if it's just a loose cable or something. If I absolutely have to, I'm willing to buy the part I need and replace the display myself. Any help would be appreciated! [link] [comments]  |
| Unsure of what to do with an old phone. Posted: 16 Aug 2021 12:33 PM PDT My XS was water damaged and I lost my Face ID, and my sister was kind enough to give me her old XS as a replacement when she got a new phone. I was originally planning on upgrading to the 2021 model, but I'd rather wait for Touch ID to potentially come back, especially now that I have working Face ID again. Normally what I would do is trade in this old broken XS toward the new model, but I'm not upgrading. Will Apple still take it? And how will they reimburse me? Is there a better option?
