Daily Megathread - On-Device CSAM Scanning Posted: 15 Aug 2021 06:00 AM PDT Hi r/Apple, welcome to today's megathread to discuss Apple's new CSAM on-device scanning. As a reminder, here are the current ground rules: We will be posting daily megathreads for the time being (at 9 AM ET) to centralize some of the discussion on this issue. This was decided by a sub-wide poll, results here. We will still be allowing news links in the main feed that provide new information or analysis. Old news links, or those that re-hash known information, will be directed to the megathread. The mod team will also, on a case by case basis, approve high-quality discussion posts in the main feed, but we will try to keep this to a minimum. Please continue to be respectful to each other in your discussions. Thank you! For more information about this issue, please see Apple's FAQ as well as an analysis by the EFF. A detailed technical analysis can be found here. [link] [comments]

Posted: 15 Aug 2021 08:59 AM PDT With todays cashless/paperless society, the till receipt is still a legacy of ancient shopping. It wouldn't take much for the retailer to pass a unique ID back to apple to link to a receipt for Apple to then email to you as proof of purchase. [link] [comments]

Posted: 15 Aug 2021 07:24 AM PDT Hi. I'm a 17 year old developer and recently I launched my app Svalinn on the app store. The app is designed to promote environmentally friendly lifestyles and encourage acts from individuals to end climate change. I'm planning on adding support for the Apple Watch as well as adding many other new features in the future. If you have a chance to download it and have any suggestions I'd love to hear them! Additionally, within the app there is a tip jar to support development and this will unlock more customization options permanently. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this!! Apple needs to fix Siri on Apple TV for all non-english speaking countries Posted: 15 Aug 2021 03:10 PM PDT I live in a non-english speaking country. Siri on Apple TV is language restricted to the region you're in. This is not the case on their phones, watch or MacBooks. It's endlessly annoying.. I probably consume 99% English contents on my TV. Searching in my native language for general UI navigation is fine, it even picks up some English words when searching for a series sometime. But given this restriction, I can never ever use voice to search for YouTube videos or any move or series with more than 1 or 2 words in their name. I really don't understand this restriction, please Apple. change it š [link] [comments]
Tinkerstellar: Swift Playgrounds for Python and ML Posted: 15 Aug 2021 07:03 AM PDT Hi everyone, I'm an indie app developer looking for early feedback on my new iPad app. The app is similar to Apple's own Swift Playgrounds: it's a collection of interactive tutorials on coding and computational science (e.g. ML), where you can edit and run code examples straight away — no need to configure environments, download datasets, or rely on networking connection. I call these tutorials labs, and my new app is called Tinkerstellar — because you learn by tinkering with things! š Tinkerstellar is now in public beta, so feel free to join our TestFlight and play around. This first version has four labs that you can install and experiment with. They range in topics from general coding to tackling some real-world problems of computational science, such as training a neural network classifier. Tinkerstellar will be coming to App Store later this year as a free app, and all these labs will be available for free, too. You can install it on your iPad right now, just follow the link and select Join TestFlight beta: [link] [comments] |
