Posted: 29 Jun 2021 10:26 AM PDT I have an external drive that was once used as a Time Machine on another machine, but not on this one. I know there's a way to remove the Time Machine icon and restore it to the original by deleting a hidden file, but I can't for the life of me figure out which file to delete to do so. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
(Big Sur) Macbook Pro: How to stop USB ports from sending power when sleeping? Posted: 29 Jun 2021 10:14 AM PDT I have a USB-powered audio interface plugged in 24/7. But when my Macbook is closed and sleeping, I want the audio interface to turn off. Instead, the audio interface keeps intermittently powering on and off (maybe a couple times an hour) as though the Macbook is subtly waking up and sending power. Anyone know how to stop this? I want it to stay off when sleeping. Google has been no help. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Jun 2021 09:59 AM PDT What's the deal? My 2014 Intel MacBook Pro didn't beach ball all that much, if at all. I've had the iMac almost two weeks now and seen the beach ball about three times. Doesn't seem like a lot, but bare in mind I don't really remember seeing it in the seven or so years I've had my MacBook (I'm sure it has happened, but not common enough to stick out in memory). Getting it doing fairly straightforward things like closing the About this Mac menu, opening the snap window menu and pasting from my iPhone. What even causes this? Big Sur 11.4, 16 GB RAM Edit: opened Excel on my MacBook. It bounced for some time, verified, then beach balled then opened [link] [comments]

Posted: 29 Jun 2021 10:02 AM PDT For me it's a little buggy. The iMac finds the iPad, but it can error. Trying again, gets it to connect, but the icon in the menu won't change to reflect that it's connected. Or I can disconnect, but it doesn't actually disconnect. Or it connects but is only using half of the iPad screen. Other times it works as intended. How is it for you? [link] [comments]

Is it possible to run an app in a self-contained "bubble"? Posted: 29 Jun 2021 03:54 AM PDT What I mean by this, is that I would like to use an app or game that might spawn several data files. Rather than have these disappear into the Library/Application Support folder, is it possible to have the app's entire existence and children exist within a designated single folder? Sort of like a Virtual Machine but on a much smaller scale, I suppose. If there's an app that can organise this for me please let me know. [link] [comments]

MBA M1 Crashed. Screen goes black with Pink lines in bottom right quarter of the screen. Posted: 29 Jun 2021 03:28 AM PDT Hi there, first ever post here. Found this reddit page while searching for information about the problem I've had ever since I got the MBA M1 Base model. So I'd be doing something random, and suddenly the screen would go black (crash) and pink lines would appear in the bottom right quarter of the whole screen. It would stay there for a good 5 to 6 seconds, and then the laptop would restart. It has happened a few times already (I'd say about 5) since I got the MBA at the end of December 2020. Has anyone encountered this and if so, what did you do to correct it? Thanks a million! Edit: I'm currently on Big Sur 11.4. [link] [comments]

Apple Music App non-responsive on Big Sur Posted: 29 Jun 2021 07:58 AM PDT I have an M1 Mac mini. From the start, Apple Music has been nearly impossible to use. I can open the app, select a song and have it start playing but after that it is pretty much a continual spinning beach ball. I can't select a new song or album . . . nothing . . . it is just frozen. I've had to resort to using the beta Apple Music web player which actually works quite well. Nevertheless, I'd still like to get this issue resolved. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
UTM (virtual machine for m1 MacBooks) Posted: 29 Jun 2021 03:48 AM PDT I've successfully installed UTM with windows 7 inside. It works fine for 5 min and then suddenly it becomes unstable, laggy, and slow. What could be the issue? [link] [comments]
my mac play/pause button is moody. Posted: 29 Jun 2021 06:57 AM PDT so, my m1 macbook air play button, sometimes, upon pressing it, opens the apple music app and plays the songs and sometimes it just opens the music app and nothing else. Putting it to sleep and back usually fixes it but it still is bothersome. I am on 11.3.1. [link] [comments]
Login screen switches to Big Sur wallpaper on startup (MBA M1) Posted: 29 Jun 2021 05:39 AM PDT As the title says. This was never the case before and I would always have my custom wallpaper also show up on the lockscreen at startup. Running macOS 11.4 since it was out without any issues until this happened. What can I do to fix it? I should point out that I deleted the 'Developer' folder from Finder Library (to get rid of Xcode junk) before it started happening. No other changes to software. Is there some sort of a link? [link] [comments] |
