If you use Apple Health, check out my app

    Posted: 11 Apr 2021 11:20 AM PDT

Hi! 2 years ago i was at my doctor's office and he noticed me wearing an Apple Watch and asked if i could share the data it collects. I tried, but turns out that Apple Health doesn't offer a function like this, the best you can do is screenshots.

So i started learning Swift and made an app that lets you export your health data stored in Apple Health as a printable or shareable PDF file. I recently released version 2 with lots of new features based on user feedback: even more report types(blood sugar, blood pressure, blood oxygen, sleep etc...), lots of cool health widgets, shortcuts support(to automate the generation of reports for example).

Here is a website with more info and screenhots and this is the App Store link

I really think something like this should be built-in in Apple Health. (If someone from Apple reads this, you can buy my app...:))

Let me know what you think and thanks for the opportunity to describe my app here on promo Sunday!

If you read Hacker News, check out my app!

    Posted: 11 Apr 2021 02:27 PM PDT

I've been developing my app, Octal for Hacker News, for years now, but I've recently added some major features including a 2-pane (split view) interface for iPads. Check it out here on the App Store.

If you've never heard of it, Octal is a modern, full-featured Hacker News app that is perfect for people into tech, science, startups, programming, and more. It's kind of like reddit for hackers. It has all the features you'd expect, including the ability to vote on stories, submit posts, add comments, and manage favorites. Best of all, it's free of all that annoying stuff, like ads, subscriptions, and tracking. If you want to keep up to date with the latest popular and trending tech headlines, my app was made for you.

Feedback and reviews are greatly appreciated as well. I try to fix any issues that users post to the Github page as quickly as possible - often within 1 day. Thank you!

Do you prefer listening to full albums? I just released a massive update for my full-album focused iOS Apple Music/local library player. John from MacStories called it "A must-have app for music lovers" in his review this week

    Posted: 11 Apr 2021 07:12 AM PDT

Hi everyone! I've been working on an iOS music player called Albums for the last 2 years, and I just shipped version 4.0. This update brings lots of new features like being able to add Apple Music albums to your library from within the app and a release feed that keeps track of new releases and upcoming albums from artists in your library.

If you are a nerd about listening to music and passionate about full albums, give it a shot! The free version includes lots of functionality, including full-library album shuffle. Premium has a ton of additional features, including listening statistics, production credits, filtering, customization, and library discovery options, as well as the ability to match the UI tint color to the now playing album's artwork.

Here's the link to check it out: Albums - Album Focused Player

If you want a little more information before taking the plunge, John Voorhees from MacStories wrote an excellent overview of the app earlier this week, which you can read here.

For a peek behind the curtain into my thoughts on the app and why I develop it, you can read a blog I wrote on the website to coincide with the release.

Thanks so much for checking it out!

My first app just got published!

    Posted: 11 Apr 2021 04:20 AM PDT

After two rejections, it is finally able to be downloaded on the App Store, just in time for promo Sunday.

It would mean a lot to me if y'all checked it out! It features buildings from my campus that users can tap on to learn cool facts about them. I had to change the previous name from findUSF to Discover Hilltop because of apple's Copy Cat rule. But I have plans later on to rebrand as Hilltop History and focus purely on the history of each building on campus, though that will take Time to gather information and photos.

It was built entirely with Swift and SwiftUI

About 1 month ago, I shared my first free iOS app for runners - CalcuRun. Thanks to the great feedback I got from users on Reddit, I have made a ton of updates, including iPad support

    Posted: 11 Apr 2021 11:29 AM PDT

CalcuRun is meant to be your one-stop-shop for race planning, pace calculation, and more!

I'll skip to the features. With CalcuRun, you can:

    • Input recent race results
    • Get race predictions for other distances, plus splits in imperial and metric
    • Calculate paces and times for popular race distances
    • Get workout pace suggestions
    • No ads, tracking, or logins required. All data stays on your device.

The app support iPhone and iPad, including a split view for iPads and large-format iPhones.

The only in-app purchases are optional tips — they don't unlock any additional features, as I think that running should be accessible to all! The app has 100% functionality for free.

The long version: I'm a high school CS teacher and avid marathoner. I've used various apps and websites to help plan my training, but nothing was an all-in-one solution. Furthermore, all of the apps out there haven't been updated in ages!

I spent the first few weeks of the year learning Swift and quickly put together my first version. After getting feedback from runners and Redditors on TestFlight, I launched!

    Download it for free!

Just released my first SwiftUI App for iOS/macOS - it's a practice tracker for musicians and teachers called Acacia.

    Posted: 11 Apr 2021 07:23 AM PDT

I've been learning SwiftUI for a while and this is the first project that I've decided to release on the App Store. It's designed for musicians to log practice and keep track of the repertoire they're learning. It lets you create pieces and collections of pieces, and can warn you if you've neglected practising them.

The macOS app isn't just an 'iOS port', I've tried building a very Mac-like interface that still feels similar to the iOS app. It all syncs via iCloud across your devices.

You can get it on the App Store here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/acacia-practice/id1558705735

I've also written up some thoughts on learning SwiftUI on my blog, here: https://semiserious.blog/learning-swiftui

    Thanks for checking it out!

WidgeTube -- YouTube Widgets for iOS 14

    Posted: 11 Apr 2021 05:36 PM PDT

Hi everyone, I am the developer of an app called WidgeTube. WidgeTube allows you to add YouTube widgets to your iOS 14 home screen. The app isn't on the app store just yet, but if you are interested you can learn more at my website, https://www.widgetubeapp.com.

    WidgeTube Beta Testing

Today I am starting the beta testing of WidgeTube, so if anyone would like to get started adding YouTube widgets to their home screen right now you can join the beta at https://testflight.apple.com/join/c2wROCfK.

    WidgeTube Pro

Throughout the beta the app will be completely free for all users; however, at launch I do plan on having a very small IAP subscription so that I can continue to develop WidgeTube. Here are the details for WidgeTube Pro.

    • Pricing ($0.99/Month or $5.99/Year)
      • Considering a 1 time fee as well
    • Ad Removal
    • Up to 20 Widgets (From 3)
    • Customizable Widgets
    • Automatically Open in YouTube
    • Supports future development

This app is my first app as a developer and it would mean a lot to me if you would join the beta and help me out. Thanks.

Moonshot - social network RPG - first beta of our new social network where you can defy your friends and create new photographic challenges

    Posted: 11 Apr 2021 08:36 AM PDT

Moonshot is not your average social network: it has only original, sincere content and it's a game: defy other users into photographic challenges, level up your camera and became a Moonstar.

Join our first beta, have fun creating new photo challenges, each photo you publish is unique (we don't allow using the camera roll) and joins the challenge ranking.

    TESTFLIGHT: http://testflight.apple.com/join/LINhIVOP

You can check the app features in our website: www.moonshotsocial.app

I created my first widgets (flag widgets for my flag game, ‘Vexed’)

    Posted: 11 Apr 2021 05:27 AM PDT

I taught myself Swift and SwiftUI during some recent unemployment. For some reason I used those skills to make a pretty basic flag-based trivia game.

I've just updated it to add some configurable Home Screen widgets (and better support for iPad).

Vexed is available now on the iOS App Store, completely free.
