    Help with widgets

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 11:47 PM PDT

I downloaded widget smith and some other 3rd party widget apps, but the option to add the widget doesn't show up. Only the default system apps. Is there anyway to fix this?

I updated to iOS 14 from 12 and I honestly can’t tell in what order my tabs are opened.

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 08:19 PM PDT

It used to be in reverse order but now they're opened all over the place and it's confusing af for me. Thanks!

Putting a limit on Chrome / Safari apps with iOS 14's Screen Time

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 07:12 PM PDT

So...after iOS 14 came out, something changed. I've looked again and again, but I don't see Chrome or Safari pop up as selectable options in Settings -> Screen Time -> Always Allowed.

Pre-iOS 14, I used a combination of the Downtime feature and the Always Allowed feature to limit my web browsing during working hours. However, after iOS 14, it seems that I can't block web browser apps like Chrome or Safari during my selected Downtime hours, as these apps don't appear as options in the Always Allowed screen anymore.

Before Chrome/Safari disappeared in Always Allowed, this feature helped my productivity a lot. The other options, like putting time limits on my web browsers, don't really help me much. There is simply a specific time-range each day where I need to be restricted from my web browsing apps on my phone.

Anyone else having this problem, or know of it, and know of a solution?

Touch and screen works but it's all black.

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 11:03 AM PDT

Today, I woke up and my iPhone X screen was frozen. Then it became black. However, I am able to use the touch screen and unlock, but everything is black so I don't know what's happening. What could be causing this?

More Details: Before the screen turned black I was inspecting the phone and squeezing it to see if there was something off, but after squeezing, it went all black. I squeezed it near the power off button and sim card slot. Was a soft squeeze.

P.S. By squeezing I mean touching the back and front at the same time with my fingers. Sorry for the bad english.

    -> iPhone X.

    Water in iPhone 8 screen

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 03:07 PM PDT

I've had an iPhone 8 for a couple of years now and I like to listen to music when I shower, so I often leave my phone on the side of the bathtub (which is a six or seven-inch-wide flat surface) between the two shower curtains. This worked completely fine and I never had issues with it until this morning. After I got out of the shower, I noticed my phone was a little wet. Not drenched, but it had water on the top half and around the speaker by the front-facing camera. I wiped it off and didn't think much of it because, as far as I'm aware, these phones are supposed to be designed to resist being submerged in three feet of water for around a half-hour, which is much more pressure and a much longer time than my phone was exposed to. Upon further inspection, however, I noticed that there is water visibly trapped inside the phone screen. I remembered that there is a liquid contact indicator inside the sim card port, so I checked that immediately. Despite the presence of water inside the phone screen, the LCI remains the unactivated white-silverish color. I then turned off the phone completely, removed it from its case (note that the case did have a bit of water inside it), and left it by a fan to dry. Is there anything more I can do and should I expect to need a replacement? I know these devices aren't waterproof, but I am disappointed that it couldn't handle a situation much less extreme than what it's supposed to be able to.

Sort photos and move them into albumbs

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 02:59 PM PDT

Is there a way to auto move photo as they are taken. E.g screenshots are automatically moved into screenshot album once they land in my Photo library.

    Or even based on tagging?

iPhone refuse to charge after iOS 14 update

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 02:38 PM PDT

    iOS Version: 14.0

    Model: iPhone 8

I met this problem after update to iOS 14.

Last night when I came home from work, my phone was low so I plugged it in and went out for food. After having dinner, I pick up my phone to check for messages and realized that it was dead. I plugged in again and left it charging. After a while, it still stood at 3% without charging anything. I tried to change it to another cable (I have 3 cable at home bc I have an Airpod as well) but nothing happened !! The phone was then dead but after that, it began to charge!! However, it seems that my phone can now only charged AFTER it is turned off. Whenever it was on, it refused to charge. This is very weird...

Are there anyone have my same issue and found a fix, please advised me what to do.. I didn't want to throw my phone to a repair shop bc this is the only phone I got to communicate so only if it's the last choice, I would have to:(

iPhone 8+ with broken charging port, what to do? There is 100% no lint in it :)

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 02:24 PM PDT

As the title says, the charge port on my 8plus has given up the ghost, it also doesn't work with headphones. I double triple and million-iple checked wether there's any dirt or debris in there and there isn't.

Apple quoted me the equivalent of $485 for a full device replacement (no thanks lol)

I'm kind of debating three options here. - Get it repaired (this would cost me an equivalent of about $160, I know it's cheaper in the US, but there aren't many repair shops here and I don't have a backup phone so sending it away for a week isn't an option). With the issues listed below, do you think it's worth investing any more money into this? - Replace it with an iPhone 11 right now - Keep using it the way it is with a wireless charger and a bluetooth headphone adapter and buy a 12 once they are available.

Maybe you would like some more info about the general condition of it to make a suggestion:

    • It's about three years old (bought it shortly after launch)
    • The phone isn't cracked
    • The speakers and earpiece have become rather quiet recently, even after cleaning them, the earpiece makes understanding the person on the other hand quite hard sometimes
    • The battery is at 85% life left so it doesn't last all that long anymore
    • The screen has some barely visible discolouration in the middle (left it in a hot car) and is lightly scratched

What would you do in my situation?

iPhone SE (1st gen) turns on when plugged in but won't charge or get detected by PC

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 07:17 AM PDT

I have this weird issue with iPhone SE I'm trying to repair now. Initially it was a simple battery and screen replacement job (battery bulged breaking the screen from inside). I have moderate experience with working on smartphones (mostly androids, screen replacements charging ports etc., nothing serious) and I also replaced a battery in this particular phone two years ago so I knew what I was getting into and was quite confident it would go well (especially with detailed guides iFixit provides) but after reassembling the device it does not seem to charge or get detected by my PC as plugged in anymore. When turned off it will turn on after plugging it in but after booting it won't charge, also there's no charging symbol on battery icon. I suspected I might have somehow damaged dock (or however that flex thing is called) on it, fortunately I had a spare 3rd party never used dock for SE lying around so I decided to plug it in and check if that fixes the issue but unfortunately it didn't. I did try with original apple cable and some 3rd party MFI certified cables, didn't work as well. I don't really know what else I could do, I visually inspected the motherboard and it seems intact with no parts missing or loose. I am backing it up via iCloud right now and will do a factory reset since maybe it's some weird software issue but I doubt it will help. Any ideas?

Edit: to be more specific, I'm not really sure if this will help but it's currently running iOS 13.7, model number MP822B/A.

    Unlocking phones

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 12:33 PM PDT

    Hi guys,

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this.

I'm looking into start my own mobile repair and unlocking business at home (only small-scale). And I was wondering what kind of software/method people use to unlock iPhones (and androids too) that are carrier locked? Its really hard to find info on the internet for some reason, and anything I do find you need to pay to be given website links and all the information.

Could someone maybe point me in the right direction? I don't mind paying money once I know i've found a method that's legit and reputable.

I've currently got about 10 phones that are carrier locked so any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I have an IPhone 8 and was on pornhub. As I was getting off of my incognito page a screen popped up saying that my iPhone had 11 viruses and was 76% corrupted and that it would be completely corrupted by 23:59 on 1/11/2020. Is this fake or not? What should I do?

iPhone X ios14 keeps scrolling to the top!

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 11:25 AM PDT

My iPhone X was working perfectly fine until yesterday morning, a day after I updated to ios 14, now any time I'm on a page or app, it scrolls to the top as if i'm pressing the top of the screen to quick scroll. I'm thinking it's specifically targeting the top left corner because if I've switched apps and that little option to switch back to the other app (like "<Twitter") it shoots me back to the app with the option.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

-I'm NOT pressing the screen accidentally on the right side. -I've hard reset my phone multiple times, it doesn't seem to help anything. -Tried removing my case and cleaning the screen thoroughly—did not help!

Out of options, is my phone busted??? Help!

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 07:06 AM PDT

I tried updating iPhone XR from ios 14 to 14.0.1, but it is stuck at "verifying update". The phone locked down and I cannot use my phone anymore. Any solution? I have been trying to update the phone for the past 4 days.
