Generally you can only restore to an iOS firmware that is signed by Apple. To see which firmware versions are signed by Apple, you can see this page. However, there are some exceptions.

What iOS version should I be on so I can use the next jailbreak and when will it release?

Nobody knows which iOS version(s) will be supported by the next jailbreak or when it will come out. It just depends on what exploits are found and which versions they support.

watchOS iOS version requirement

NOTE: there is no way to bypass the iOS version requirement

NOTE: ECG on watchOS 5.1.2 requires iOS 12.1.1 or higher, there is no way to bypass it or any requirement.

NOTE: watchOS will be update only if your iOS is supported

Removing jailbreak

iTunes (or Finder on macOS 10.15 Catalina) Method

First of all, connect your device to your computer, open iTunes (or Finder on macOS 10.15 Catalina), click on the device and backup your data. This will allow you to restore your data back onto your device if you choose to do so. (be sure iTunes is updated)
In iTunes (or in Finder on macOS 10.15 Catalina), click on "Restore iPhone" (this will depend on your device – it could be iPad, iPhone or iPod). This will ask you if you want to restore and update to the latest iOS. Once complete, your device will be restore to the latest iOS.
At this point you'll get an option, either setup as new which won't put any of your data back onto your device, or restore backup which will put your data back onto your device.

Cydia Eraser

If you have a device running iOS 8.1 - 10.3.3, you could use Cydia Eraser. Cydia Eraser will wipe the device to factory settings and remove the jailbreak on the device but keeping it on the same iOS version so you can jailbreak again. Note: some people report that if you have changed a font with BytaFont, it can cause Cydia Eraser to fail and ruin the jailbreak unless you revert the font to stock first.

OSRestoreX

If you are running iOS 10, you can use OSRestoreX. The instructions are listed on that link.

Demeridian

If you are running iOS 10 Meridian jailbreak, you can use Demeridian. The instructions are listed on that link.

Delectra

You can use Delectra on all iOS 11.The instructions are listed here.

SemiRestore 11 Lite for Electra iOS 11-11.1.2

You can use SemiRestore 11 Lite on iOS 11-11.1.2.The instructions are listed here.

SemiRestore11 / Rollectra for Electra iOS 11.3 - 11.4,1

You can use SemiRestore11 / Rollectra for iOS 11.3 - 11.4.1 to unjailbreak and go back to stock iOS. This tool is iOS 11.3 - 11.4.1 and you can find the deb on https://cydia.hbang.ws/ and the .ipa here https://github.com/pwn20wndstuff/Rollectra11/blob/master/Rollectra-1.1.ipa .

Signing

When is Apple going to stop signing iOS x.x.x?

No one knows for sure. Historically, Apple stops signing older versions of iOS about a few weeks after the latest version is released. However, there are always situations where Apple stops signing a version of iOS way sooner or way later than expected.

How do I update/downgrade to an iOS that is still signed by Apple?

Download the IPSW here.
Connect your device to your computer, open iTunes, click on the device and backup your data. This will allow you to restore your data back onto your device if you choose to do so (you won't be able to restore a backup from your current iOS if you are using this method to downgrade).
In iTunes, while holding alt/option on macOS, or Shift on Windows, click "Restore Device". Select the downloaded IPSW.
Once done, you'll get an option to either setup as new – which won't restore any of your data back onto your device – or, restore, which will restore your data back onto your device.

SHSH

How do I save SHSH2 blobs so that I can potentially downgrade/upgrade to an unsigned iOS version at a later date?

You cannot save SHSH2 blobs for iOS versions that are no longer signed.

App Store Related

An app requires a newer iOS version

This usually won't work no matter what you try, since the app probably requires APIs only available in the newer iOS version. Sometimes you'll see a suggestion to edit SystemVersion.plist to fake the newer version, which is generally a very bad idea – a lot of things depend on that version number being correct. For example, changing this version number will cause the Corona and Rocky Racoon untether packages in Cydia (for 5.0.1 and 5.1.1) to automatically queue up for uninstallation, since they know they're not supposed to be installed on 6.x (or whatever version you're faking). Another example is that if you fake iOS 6 while being on iOS 5, the App Store will start getting pages formatted for the iOS 6 version of the app, which won't work with the iOS 5 app. It's hard to fix problems caused by SystemVersion.plist being wrong.

Bypassing Jailbreak Detection

The free tweak xCon can help you work around this limitation in many apps. Check out the xCon status chart on TheiPhoneWiki for more details. If xCon does not work for you, check out tsProtector P which may help. Flex 2 is also a good app that can do this if a patch has been made for it. There is also Liberty Lite, NoSub and NoSubstitute (Electra), UnSub on on https://repo.nepeta.me/ (works for A12 devices ). Right now there is no way to bypass jailbreak detection in Fortnite. For Mario Kart on A7-A11 devices check here, for A12 here.

An app requires to be updated for iOS 11/12

That means that the App is a 32bit App and there is no way to run it on iOS 11 and later.

Specific Apps and Tweaks

When will a tweak be updated?

Only the developer can answer this (unless they have already stated publicly any information). You can contact the developer of the specific package by going into that package in Cydia, tapping "Author" and then tapping "Author" on that page. You can also check to see if they have Twitter and if they posted anything about an update. Here is a list of some developers on Twitter.

You can get it back by clicking on the "More Sources" section on the Cydia tab and adding it back from there.

Miscellaneous

Stuck on the Apple logo? Bootloop?

This is called a bootloop, it means that the device can no longer complete the booting process and thus reboots itself. Whether it's stuck on the Apple logo or the logo keeps flashing every 7-10 seconds (meaning that it repeatedly attempts to reboot but fails every time).

What would cause a bootloop? the answer is not the same for every device, for example, it could be a faulty/outdated/really broken tweak, corrupted system files, hardware issue and etc.

How to fix a bootloop? there's not much you can do, so you can try one of these two options:

Try Reiboot which has an option to force exit recovery mode (not guaranteed to work but worth the try).
Restore to the latest firmware with iTunes (after putting the device in DFU mode, connect it to iTunes and click on "Restore Device"). Note: your data will be lost when using this option.

Note: this does not work on every device and may not be 100% accurate. However, it's the best known method right now. There is no tool for watchOS

What is "bird"? Can I disable it?

"bird" is a process related to iCloud Drive. It's one of the system daemons responsible for the backing of Documents in iCloud. You can disable it if so you wish, but it is not recommended if you use iCloud on your device.

[Update] Choicy 1.1.3 + [Release] ChoicyLoader

Never heard about Choicy before? Check out the initial release post.

For a long time, some users had issues with certain functionality of Choicy (global tweak configuration, custom tweak configuration and disable tweak injection (for everything that's not an application)), the cause of this was that despite everyone thinking that SubstrateLoader loads the tweaks alphabetically, this is not the case. SubstrateLoader directly processes the output of readdir, which returns the files in no guaranteed order, for most of the devices it's alphabetically (so 000_Choicy.dylib returns first), but for some devices it does not. Choicy in particular needs to be loaded first because it needs to be able to prevent other tweaks from loading after it and once a tweak is loaded, it cannot be unloaded, so it needs to activate before any other tweak is loaded.

The new version of Choicy now detects if this is the case and if so, it disables everything except the "disable tweak injection" option on applications. There will also be a popup that informs the user about this problem, that recommends to use ChoicyLoader as a workaround.

ChoicyLoader is a very hacky workaround for the issue that Substrate does not load Choicy first, it works by renaming SubstrateLoader.dylib to SubstrateLoader_orig.dylib and placing a symlink to ChoicyLoader in place of SubstrateLoader.dylib. ChoicyLoader then loads Choicy and afterwards loads Substrate normally. This causes Choicy to run first, which means that it can again control what tweaks to inject. There is also a dpkg trigger that automatically applies everything again after a Substrate update, so no user actions should be needed. I'm not totally happy with this solution but it get's the job done and I could not find anything better.

I only mentioned Substrate here, but the same thing likely also applies to Substitute. ChoicyLoader detects whether Substrate or Substitute is used and supports both of them. EDIT: I feel like I should note that this was only tested on unc0ver's substitute, not on the one that Chimera ships with (and it will likely not work for Chimera).

Both the Choicy update and ChoicyLoader are out now on https://opa334.github.io, Choicy will be submitted to BigBoss as always, ChoicyLoader will stay exclusive to my repo however.

There is no need to install ChoicyLoader if the new Choicy version does not print any errors when accessing the preference page.

The new Choicy update also improves the detection of what tweaks inject into a process a little bit.

This is an extremely small tweak. It was originally my first tweak, but it didn't work for IOS 13. Now I've joined the checkra1n squad, and learned a lot about tweak development.

Hello all,

I have spent a ton of time updating, cleaning, and testing the newest version of SendDelay, but I only have iOS 13.

If anyone with a test iOS12/11/etc device can give this a whirl that would be fantastic. (Also for those of you on iOS13 -- it should work.)

No promises that your messages app won't crash every 5 seconds, just a heads up. I have done absolutely zero testing on anything other than 13.3, please only use test devices and not production.

Changelog so far:

Updated for iOS 13.
Added progress bar to indicate length of delay as it waits. [Most requested feature I believe.]
Shuffled some code around to (hopefully) sort out compatibility.
Rewrote some logic for off-screen sending.
Rewrote plist read/write to avoid deprecated methods.
Updated Settings page to be visible when dark mode is enabled.

[Help] Can a SystemMemoryReset cause a completely responsive iPhone?

Just woke up and was trying to check the time but my phone was completely unresponsive, wouldn't recognise a lightning cable or any of the buttons and the screen was off. Managed to get it back by holding vol up and power (iPhone X), checking the logs and this seems like the most likely culprit.

With this reason in the log:

"eventReason" : "User reclaimable memory dropped below the limit. User reclaimable current: 54%. User reclaimable minimum: 55%"

So would this cause an iPhone to become totally unresponsive? On iOS 11 I remember something similar with user reclaimable memory, but back then it just restarted my phone (always in the middle of the night like now) in an unjailbroken state, not completely unresponsive.

Edit: only just noticed iOS spellcheck corrected unresponsive to responsive in the title LOL.

So my podcast and music failed to download when I downgraded 13.3.1 to 13.3. I tried many ways and look through the internet to find a solution, but couldn't. The only way to be able to download podcast and music is by being on 13.3 and making my phone as new. WARNING try to remember or take pic of your apps and passwords so you won't be in another situation.

[Discussion] A few words on Lynx, new localizations, freezing issues and conflicts

I've been working hard to get Lynx localized for other languages. All the info needed to localize it for your language is included on its GitHub Page. I've also been rewriting many parts of it to be more efficient and check if other tweaks are overriding values. There have been many reports of it freezing devices on the lockscreen, and to anyone who has faced the issue, a list of tweaks installed would help enormously as I'll try to compile a list of tweaks common in all of them to try to narrow down conflicts. It is an extremely large tweak with a lot of code, and I'd love to get to the bottom of common issues to continue adding the features requested. How to set-up Raspberry Pi to launch checkra1n on DFU device connection.

This is tested on Raspberry Pi4 and iPhone X.
You need to be able to run successfully checkra1n into your raspberry before following this guide.

Follow these steps:

download checkra1n arm (for Raspberry Pi 4) in your pc from here
scp checkra1n binary to rpi:
scp <path-of-checkra1n-binary>/checkra1n pi@<local-pi-ip-address>:/home/pi
log with ssh to your raspberry pi from your pc terminal:
ssh pi@<local-pi-ip-address>
Hit enter end insert your password.
make sure you are in /home/pi (do cd /home/pi if not), we need to create two files:
- Open nano editor with nanoexploitscript.sh and paste this:
#!/bin/bash
sudo ./opt/checkra1n/checkra1n -c
then ctrl+x to exit, then hit Y and then hit Enter.
- Reopen nano nano 01-exploit.rules and paste this in one line:
ACTION=="add", ATTRS{idVendor}=="05ac", ATTRS{idProduct}=="1227", RUN+="/bin/bash /opt/exploitscript.sh"
(make sure to have a space between /bin/bash and /opt/exploitscript.sh) then ctrl+x to exit, hit Y and then hit Enter.
move exploitscript.sh to /opt:
sudo mv /home/pi/exploitscript.sh /opt
chmod it to make it runnable:
sudo chmod +x /opt/exploitscript.sh
add the script to sudoers by running sudo visudo and paste below
# Allow members of group sudo to execute any command
%sudo ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALLthe line:
pi ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /opt/exploitscript.sh
then ctrl+x to exit, then hit Y and then hit Enter.
create checkra1n directory in /opt:
sudo mkdir /opt/checkra1n
put checkra1n binary file inside /opt/checkra1n directory:
sudo mv /home/pi/checkra1n /opt/checkra1n
put the .rules file inside udev rules directory:
sudo mv /home/pi/01-exploit.rules /etc/udev/rules.d
reboot your pi:
sudo reboot

[Tip] If you IMessage tapbacks aren’t displaying properly iOS 13 Checkra1n

I noticed a bug that is randomly caused by speed intensifier where the iMessage Tapback don't display properly with speed intensifier enabled. Speed intensifier works on IOS 13 but has not been updated in a while. There is an easy fix, simply install [[TweakConfigurator]], and disable the Speed intensifier dylib for Messages and you will be able to use speed intensifier without disabling for the rest of your device. The same should be utilized for any tweak that is causing bugs in a particular app.

[Question] Snapchat Jailbreak Detection

I am anticipating the ios 13 jailbreak for my A12 device in the coming weeks. In past jailbreaks, specifically ios 11 and newer, I have been temporarily banned on my Snapchat account countless times. I have used tweaks like NoSub, TweakConfiguator, Liberty (and the Lite version) and still no success. Ive even downgraded the app to a version that was less strict with security and then I didn't get banned, but I had sign in issues and other bs. My question is, what is the BEST way to use Snapchat on jailbroken devices in 2020? All of the answers ive seen is from 2018 and older.
