Apple Photos a mess using iCloud Photos Posted: 08 Feb 2020 07:39 PM PST I recently bought a new Macbook and copied over my photos library. At the same time I enabled iCloud Photos on my iPhone and Macbook. The recents album is a mess showing all my photos in a random order, not set by date imported or taken and I usually use albums to organize my photos. Is there any way to have the Recents album show JUST photos I have taken and not sorted into an album manually or even have it set to just show photos that are a certain age? It's driving me insane. Posted: 08 Feb 2020 07:08 PM PST Hey guys, I have recently run into a problem with my iPhone XR where I can use only the lock screen and once I open the phone there is only black with the little bar down the bottom. I have tried to restart my device only to find that I can't as holding down the volume button and sleep/wake button does nothing at all. Hopefully someone can help me. Edit: if anyone can find a fix for me without having to do a factory reset there will be a free platinum for your troubles. [link] [comments] |
Is there any way I could add Esperanto characters to keyboard? Posted: 08 Feb 2020 08:25 PM PST I need to use Esperanto letters (which use the same letters in English, just with accents) but can't seem to get them on iOS. Of course, Esperanto wasn't available in the keyboard settings so I tried adding a few other languages hoping they contain the same accents, but I've yet to find anything. Does anyone know of a language I could add which has the same accents? And if adding an existing language isn't an option, I'd it possible to manually add accents in settings by copy/pasting the letters? [link] [comments] |

A1502 2015 MacBook Pro Painfully Slow After Many Attempts to Fix it. Posted: 08 Feb 2020 10:48 PM PST As the title says, my A1502 MacBook Pro is extremely slow to the point where I cant even use it. It is like this even in recovery mode and after a reinstall. What I have tried:

2015 MBP. I can't find a lost app. Digital (optical) volume control. Posted: 08 Feb 2020 10:10 PM PST I recently wiped my SSD. And I had an app/utility that allowed me to control my digital audio volume with my keyboard. It ran in the background, and opened whenever I logged in. I cannot for the life of me find this app again. It was a free download, but they took donations. I remember the icon was just circle, and waves moved through it when audio played. If anyone could help me find this thing, I'll buy them a coffee or a sandwich or something! [link] [comments] |

Apple Watch number recycled now someone is getting my calls Posted: 08 Feb 2020 03:50 PM PST SOLVED I am experiencing a weird problem where I had previously had a cellular account with AT&T and decided to de-activate the cellular component. The number was then reused by the provider and now whenever someone calls my phone the new owner of the number can answer my calls. I have removed the number from my Apple ID and from my phone. Reset the watch and went through setup process and stated I did not want to use cellular data but the issue persists. I have checked all my Apple accounts to ensure that the number is not associated with it on my end. I have replaced the SIM card in the phone and the watch shows that it does not have active service yet any time a call is placed to my phone the call goes to both my phone and the new owner of the number that was associated with my watch. I called Apple and they are stating it is on the carrier end. I have spoke to the carrier and they seem to think it may be associated with the Apple ID. I have ensured that the option to receive calls on other devices is turned off. Any suggestions are appreciated. SOLVED [link] [comments] |

MacBook Air clicky bottom case Posted: 08 Feb 2020 03:07 PM PST I'm having an issue with the Retina MacBook Air. It's not really an issue that affects use but it bothers my OCD. The bottom case sometimes clicks when I pick up the computer or put pressure against it. This is the second MBA I've had so I know it wasn't an issue with my particular unit. Any ideas or experience? 2018 Retina MacBook Air [link] [comments] |
MacBook Pro 13" 2015 DIY Upgrade Posted: 08 Feb 2020 07:45 PM PST I own a MacBook Pro 13" 2015 i5 2.7gHz with 8gb ram. Everything works just fine without issues, but I am not happy with the performance I get out of it. I don't want to upgrade to a newer model because I love the ports I have. I want to replace the logic board with a maxed one like i7 3.1gHz with 16 ram. Replacing the logic board is much cheaper than getting the whole MacBook, and I already have one that works fine. So, my question is, "Is it OK to just replace the logic board, or are there any details that I am not aware of?" I am planning to buy this logic board: https://www.ebay.com/itm/i7-3-1-GHz-16GB-RAM-Logic-Board-820-4924-A-for-MacBook-Pro-Retina-13-A1502-2015/184009767544?epid=1173541216&hash=item2ad7d63a78:g:jiAAAOSw9MRdtDfG Yes, I checked that the logic board is taken from a 13" 2015 MacBook Pro and I have experience with replacing MacBook parts. What is your experience with such a case? I am sorry for any possible grammar mistakes. TL;DR, I have a 2015 13" MacBook with low specs, and I want to replace the logic board with a better one. Is it OK? [link] [comments] |
I’ve had this problem for a while now Posted: 08 Feb 2020 03:39 PM PST I have this really annoying pop up that shows up every now and again, I have no idea where it came from considering I've never downloaded anything from any sketchy websites or something along the lines of that. Normally it goes away after a while, but now it's just staying there. I believe it has something to do with Safari, but even when safari is forced closed(or all applications for that matter), the pop up remains. It stays in front of whatever window is open, making it borderline impossible to work. please help [link] [comments] |
Two distinct Time Machine's backup up two different drives separately? Posted: 08 Feb 2020 07:01 PM PST Hey there. I'm looking for a way to get Time Machine to keep two different backups simultaneously. At the moment I have the following setup: 1TB Primary HDD -> gets backed up with Time Machine to a 2TB external HD 4TB external drive (A) for storage of large files -> Gets backed up manually to another 4TB external drive (B) At the moment I can't find a way in Time Machine to have the 2TB back-up my primary drive while using the other 4TB drive to back-up only the 4TB external drive. I know there is an option to combine the drives together (2TB + 4TB) to backup everything across multiple drives, but I would prefer not to do this. I can manually make copies or backups of the 4TB drive by hand or with SuperDuper, but then I don't have the ability to find older deleted files chronologically, which is what makes Time Machine so useful. Question: Is there a way to get Time Machine to keep track of two separate backups on different drives? Or is it possible to somehow run two distinct instances of Time Machine simultaneously, side-by-side? Or if not, is there a piece of 3rd party software that mimics what Time Machine does? Many thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Facetime notification but no call Posted: 08 Feb 2020 06:39 PM PST Hey Redditers, I had a notification today on my lock screen that said an email address of someone I know was asking me to join his facetime call. When I opened my phone the notification disappeared and there is no record of it in my call log on either my phone or my computer. I feel like I imagined it, but I definitely didn't. Anyone else experienced this? Is this some third party scam stuff? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Feb 2020 12:38 PM PST Hey all, I'm a recording engineer on Mac using Logic Pro X. Just for background, a year ago my Macbook Pro failed and I was out of warranty. I had many reasons to believe the logic board was the culprit went with buying a 2018 Mac Mini instead of repairing my old laptop. I then extracted the SSD from the macbook pro and put it in an enclosure (one of the OWC Envoys). The SSD has then been one of my externals that I use for projects, mostly storing samples and whatnot. On Thursday and Friday I had a recording project for which I brought my Mac Mini and SSD with me. Setting up for recording on Logic I set the folder path to save audio files to the SSD. I then went on with the recording session as normal. Had no issues whatsoever. On Friday I set up again, plug in my SSD, and all of a sudden my computer crashes (freezes up for 5ish seconds) and reboots. It then stays stuck on the Apple logo on the black screen. I assume my Mac is trying to boot from the SSD for some reason. So I'm stuck with this SSD with files in it that I can't access. I always create a backup of my recordings so I'm not fiending to repair this. All I have in there are, again, sample files I can re-download and the files for Thursdays recording session, but it would help expedite things as I already have Logic session files in there as well as the labeled track names, and my backups are not labeled. Things I attempted: Different external HD (mounts normally), mounting the SSD into another Mac Mini and Macbook (also crashes those computers), different USB cables, different ports (also tried a USB-C type cable into the USB-C/Thunderbolt ports), directly into Mac Mini and through a USB hub (tried both a non-powered hub and a powered hub), plugging in with no other peripherals on the computer. Didn't attempt: SMC reset, didn't have a wired keyboard on me at the time, also figured if it was crashing other computers then that probably wasn't the issue. The only issue I can think of is that I did forget to rename the drive when I reformatted it after extracting, so it's still called "Macintosh HD" or whatever, could this be confusing the computer? Is there any solution to this? Tried Google to no avail, I'm not exactly sure how to force boot from internal SSD and mount but ignore the external, but I'm assuming this is the solution? Need help loading an older version of Excel Posted: 08 Feb 2020 04:57 PM PST I have an old MacBook Pro version 10.12.6. It works fine for what I need it for, except I NEED excel for my job. Excel from the App Store won't load as I need 10.13 or later. Is there a way to load an older version of excel onto this computer? And how do I go about doing that? [link] [comments] |

I can buy thing that cost money without actually paying for them. Posted: 08 Feb 2020 03:09 PM PST I've never put any form of payment onto my iPhone before, but I can buy things that cost money. I can use the apps / in-app purchases still and they work fine. (I've only bought $20 worth of stuff since I've discovered this.) [link] [comments] |
Messages now showing “recent photos” and makes me go through a menu for camera roll Posted: 08 Feb 2020 02:44 PM PST I have no idea what it's seeming as "recent photos" in Messages but it's not my recent photos, it's some weird totally random hodgepodge I'd randomly selected photos from the past five years when I just want to see the screenshot I took twenty seconds ago to text to someone. I'm wondering if this is a "feature" of 13.3.1. This is an iPhone XS, updated last night, and now to see actual recent photos that used to come up when I tap the "photos" icon in Messages, now I have to tap "all photos" and then go through a menu to again select "all photos" and from there I can only select one photo at a time, so sending the five photos from yesterday before my dog park session was a tedious process of four taps and some scrolling for each photo whereas yesterday it was just some scrolling and one tap per photo. Is there a way to fix this, or is this just how it is with the new update? And if so, how does it determine what constitutes "recent" photos because it's literally showing me photos from years ago and nothing from the last couple days. [link] [comments] |
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) shutting down randomly (possible fix found) Posted: 08 Feb 2020 02:24 PM PST To make a long story short, in the past few months, my MacBook Pro has been shutting down randomly. To begin with the cause of the problem was seemingly a dead battery which I exchanged with a new one. Yet the problem persisted and even got worse to the point of my screen turning completely black each time the Macbook Pro was turned on. Had it repaired (the logic board was exchanged for a used one) for free at a computer repair store which is owned and operated by a friend. All fine. Today, exactly 1 week after the repair was done, my Macbook Pro randomly shut down again while I was using it. The power adapter was not turned on but the battery showed 75 % at the time when my Macbook Pro shut down. However this time around I had no problem turning it on again and the screen did not go completely black after turning it on as previously. After doing some research, I found an app named "NoCrashMBP" which claims to fix the problem permanently. https://realmacmods.com/product/macbook-pro-nocrash-utility/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsHi9ICg_lg Anyone familiar with that app above which costs $10.00? After additional research, I found another possible solution. Cost-free. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2OwJvT2oSU The question that bothers me is whether or not that approach above is harmless? If the approach proves to be harmless, it should definitely be worth a try before looking to buy the app in question or looking for more expensive solutions. Thanks a lot in advance.
