    [Tutorial] Tweaks through the RootlessJB

    I'm going to try and keep this short and simple. This might be possible on windows but a MacBook is highly recommended.

    Before we start, make sure you have the rootlessJB on your phone. From the same zip as the rootlessJB, drag the file called "patcher" to your Desktop. Make sure you also download ldid2 from here — drag the file called "ldid2" to your desktop. Let's begin.

    1. Download the deb of the tweak you want and drag it to your desktop. For this example, the tweak will be called Tweaky

    2. First, we need to patch the deb using the patcher script. Open up terminal and CD to your Desktop ($ cd Desktop/)

    3. Create a folder on your Desktop. Call it whatever you want (the patcher script didn't work for me if the folder had a space in the name so just avoid spaces I guess..). For this example the folder will be called PatchedTweak

    4. Run the script. It will look like this:

      ./patcher <Drag and drop the deb> <Drag and drop your folder>

      If you get a dpkg error read this

    5. If everything went well you should have a few folders in your "PatchedTweaks" folder

    6. Now we will need to sign the dylib file using ldid2

    7. Find the file that ends the .dylib extension

    8. Go to your terminal and do:

      ./ldid2 -S <drag and drop the .dylib file>

    9. We are now ready to put these on our phones now

    10. I suggest using GeoSnow's iOS 12 Filza as it allows us to copy and paste files easily

    11. We can use ifunbox to send the files to this part of our device: /var/mobile/Media

    12. Once that is complete, open up filza and copy and paste the files in the right places. Not going to explain where to drag the files as its self explanatory.

    13. Once everything is in their respective places, we need to inject the dylib.

    14. SSH into your device (default password is alpine) and run this command:

      inject /var/LIB/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries/<tweak.dylib>

    15. Respring the spingboard like so:

      killall SpringBoard

    Enjoy your device and definitely be sure to thank Bazad, Jake James, and GeoSnow for the workinf Filza.

    EDIT: Apparently some people are having errors with rootlessJB IPAs. Other people saying it works, so if it isn't working for you, you will have to use Xcode to build it onto your device.

    So I'm literally excited about this community and the amount of activity we're getting from the devs. The devs are the real MVP and should deserve way more praise than they actually do. Literally I come on here once a day and see new tools and bypasses being doing which is dope and making this community lively.

    So base on what I'm understanding. We have the Icore, Pac, and Remount bypasses already there. We also have a rootless jailbreak released so far and a filezilla for A12 devices. What else do we need for a full blown jailbreak to be released.

    If i'm not mistaken pwn might be working on the full blown jailbreak for iOS 12 in uncover. If I read his tweets wrong then my bad. If that's the case that's dope as fuck and all of us will patiently wait for him to be done.

    Just based on the activities from the devs alone. I can easily see a jailbreak releasing by the end of this week or by the end of the month at the latest.

    I completely forgot how to install tweaks without a file manager but I do remember having to like get a .deb file and drag two Prefrence and something else into your phones filesystem. Can I just have a quick refresh for the new rootless JB?

    RootlessJB on 12.1.1 has tweak capability but you need to patch the tweak. I've heard you can reboot but I don't think it's that easy. I want to use some tweaks so how can I patch them?

    [Discussion] The case for the rootless jailbreak

    So people have been misunderstanding what the rootless jailbreak is: it's not the /var plist little hacks or Torngat. It's a full jailbreak.

    • You can install tweaks
    • You can modify other apps
    • You can install themes
    • You can reboot the device and rejailbreak into the same setup.

    Once it's released that's it, it's a full jailbreak.

    In fact, given it's inherent rootless structure many apps won't detect it at all, and it's a lot safer and easier to remove in case of an issue.

    The only downside? The current package managers like Cydia won't support it, they could in theory but nobody will spend the time and effort rewriting them.

    I strongly believe this should be the new type of jailbreak we run. It's cleaner and safer, and has everything you need. Traditional jailbreaks haven't been "complete" in ages, even with Electra and Unc0ver you couldn't use dynarec in an emulator for example.

    If we had a package manager with a pretty GUI this could be absolutely fantastic.

    EDIT: And this post is still getting replies from people thinking this is just a sandbox escape... Code injection works, tweaks can run normally.

    I can't compile rootlessjb with xcode at the moment, so does anyone know where I can find the IPA? I heard jake james retweeted it on his twitter but I couldn't find that.

    [Question] [Discussion] What are the steps you guys took to successfully installed a tweak? (RootlessJB)

    My steps:

    1) download Zeppelin Deb and placed it in my desktop

    2) downloaded patcher script from Jake's GitHub repo and placed it in Desktop

    3) used terminal to run "./patcher [drag deb] Zeppelin" (runs fine with no errors)

    4) transfered library folder to /var/containers/Bundle/tweaksupport/

    5) Zeppelin Bundle --> PreferenceBundles Zeppelin Preference --> Prefernece Loader Zeppelin Dynamic Libraries --> Tweak Inject Zeppelin Folder with icons --> tweaksupport/Library

    6) Respring 7) profi- wait it doesn't work?

    What is the flaw to my procedure? What did you do to make it work?

    Edit:

    -So it seems I need to use ldid2

    -Testing out stuff I'll update when it works

    -Patched the Deb file with ldid2 in use/bin, but no fix. Maybe it's because I used Carrier Changer12 before this?

    -Tried to install Volume HUD, but no luck rip.
