- Trying to connect MacBook to 4K tv
- MBP hangs when disconnecting from external display
- All the tracks are titled “Japan” even though the Now Playing display is the correct song. I’ve tried editing the metadata in iTunes but it didn’t work. How do I fix this?

| Trying to connect MacBook to 4K tv Posted: 25 May 2018 05:12 PM PDT I have a 2014 MacBook Retina display. I am trying to connect it to my tv. I plugged the hdmi cord in both the tv and MacBook. | MBP hangs when disconnecting from external display Posted: 25 May 2018 07:05 PM PDT I've got a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017). Running High Sierra (version 10.13.4). Most of the time, I'm plugged into an external display (LG UltraFine 5K Display), with the lid down on the MBP, using an Apple bluetooth keyboard. Lately, I've been noticing that if I disconnect the display, when I open the lid on the MBP, I'm wedged. There's no mouse cursor, and the touchbar looks like this. I end up having to reboot by holding down the power key. I'm not 100% sure, but I think this started happening when I did the High Sierra upgrade. [link] [comments]  |

It is 4am and my phone was going off the last 15 minutes with the notification "Apple ID sign in requested" and it was being pinged from places all over the world. I'd obviously deny the request, and then Apple would prompt me to change my password so I would try too, but before I could even change it another pop up came up saying that it the "Apple ID sign in requested". I ended up getting out of bed and changing it manually on my laptop. And the notifications of the requests stopped. Basically, does it mean that my sign in details were somehow compromised and someone was trying to gain access?!?! It was relentless how much they were trying to get in! Thank you. !!! | Can I install an OS in Recovery Mode on an iMac onto an external hard drive? Posted: 25 May 2018 09:17 PM PDT Long story short, the internal hard in my iMac from around 2012 is dead. It was running High Sierra. I can get into Recovery Mode and internet OS install but the internal drive is greyed out with an error message. Can I simply plug in a firewire Lacie external hard drive? Will it mount/appear as an option and allow the instillation? Can I literally run an iMac completely off of an external drive? [link] [comments]  |
| iPhone contacts disappearing even after a backup! Posted: 25 May 2018 10:40 AM PDT Hi, I have an old iPhone 5s running iOS 11.2.6 and my contacts keep disappearing (apart from a few 15). I have a iCloud backup but a couple of minutes after restoring it they disappear again. Restoring via iCloud.com does nothing. I am using a manual reset under the settings menu every time but like I said, they disappear again a couple of minutes later. Keeping the phone 100% offline with airplane mode prevents them from going away. I tried a software (MobiMoverUI from EaseUS) to try a offline backup of my contacts but he only finds exactly the 15 contacts that are "persistent". [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 25 May 2018 03:22 PM PDT So I was downloading a pdf off of adf.ly and I did the usual thing of skipping the ad etc. However, when I went to press the download button for the pdf, a pop up had come up which lead to my phone number being given to a company who then subscribed me to a weekly sticker thing which had a subscription cost of £4.50 a week. I immediately unsubscribed from it as it had attached a 5 digit number which stated that you had to message 'STOP' to it in order to unsubscribe. I'm worried now that safari could possibly have given my phone number to other such companies without my knowledge as I did not consent to this. Is there a way for me to stop this occurring again and if so how do I do it? I'm currently using an iPhone 8+ with the latest version of iOS. [link] [comments]  |

| Finder wont scroll all the way to the bottom unless I expand the window Posted: 25 May 2018 09:32 AM PDT Really annoying, i'm on High Sierra with a MacBook Pro 2017. as you can see on the bottom there's more folders down there but it won't let me scroll down there (It'll say on the side bar that I've reached the bottom) unless I expand the window screen, then it'll show the rest of the folders and I'm able to scroll. | Unable to download preordered content?? Posted: 25 May 2018 07:52 AM PDT Hey everyone! So I preordered the newest album, called "Gravity" of Bullet for My Valentine about a month ago now. The first two songs that were already available at the time I was able to download, however, the third one, that's been made available since, I am unable to download. Whenever I check the Available Downloads section it's empty and when I look up the album in iTunes Store (from the ID I bought it with) the song simply says preordered. There's more than enough balance on my card than the whol album'a price and I have already tried logging out and back in and downloading from iTunes on computer, but nothing seems to help. I've already contacted iTunes Support, but they couldn't help and I am getting tired of chatting with Apple's bots without any results. Anybody have a clue on what might be the cause?? | iPhone 7 Plus, proximity sensor issue. Posted: 25 May 2018 11:37 AM PDT I've had my phone for almost a year, and only today has this issue started to occur. So I have my phone flat on a surface and have my hand above to tap through whatever, and if the my hand goes anywhere near the sensor (up to 10cm away) the screen goes black until I move my hand away. | Small bead in headphone jack of Macbook Pro 2015, Apple Authorized Provider quoted me $1000+ fix Posted: 25 May 2018 02:49 PM PDT So.... something got stuck in my headphone jack. From my best guess, it looks like a small bead of some sort. Before you ask, no i did not put it there. I went to put my headphones in and it simply wouldn't go in. I contacted apple support via chat. They said no problem, its covered under apple care and will take about 15 minutes. They set me up with an appointment with an Apple Authorized Provider. I show up to the appointment and the employee tells me I will have to replace the entire motherboard and it will cost me from $1100 to $1300, to which I said "I might as well by a new computer". Anyone been through this or can help guide me? I'm planning on going to my nearest apple store when they have an appointment after the holiday weekend. [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 25 May 2018 02:12 PM PDT My gf got a new iphone, i had to restore it with the back up of her old phone using her itunes on her macbook, so i go to do that and it says i need to update iTunes, ok, i downoad the update, and it says i cant update it until i run 10.10.5 or 10.11 OS... Okay, she's running 10.9... I download the installer for 10.11 but apparently it wont work unless you install 10.10 first... okay, so i go to look for THAT and I check app-store and start googling like crazy and apparently it doesn't exist anymore cause apple just simply doesn't offer it anymore for whatever reason So there's literally no way to upgrade from 10.9 to 10.11 if you dont have 10.10 already or had purchased it in the app store in the past... So I'm googling and one forum said u can find the install package if u do a developer account, so i upgrade her apple id to developer account and look in their list of downloads and nope, it's not available... so at this point i'm getting super fucking pissed and go to my last resort which I don't want to do: Find a fucking torrent for it... I go to pirate bay and find one with the most seeds and read the comments to see if others say it's working... I find it, d/l it... and then** i go to install it and it says this this cannot be verified...** so i'm thinking this torrent file was corrupt... but decide to google this fucking message... and find out it can be solved if i change the date of the system to 2014... so i do, and the fucking installer works... and after 30 minutes, i installed 10.10... and now i was able to upgrade to 10.10.5... great, now i can install itunes, right? RIGHT? No. now the itunes installer doesn't work. And the app store doesn't load a thing. After some aggressive yoga I realized maybe it's cause the date is still 2014. So I set it to the current date and itunes update starts working. And that my friends, is how I was able to upgrade my girlfriends mac and restore her new iphone to the backup. Good luck. I recently realized that if you are in low power mode, media stored on iCloud always gets stuck with a spinner or loader, instead of just telling you that the media won't download until you turn the low power mode off. I recieved conformation emails as well. However, i messed up and accidentally changed my payment settings to "none" about a minute later. When i now go to look at the "recent purchases" section all of those items say they're pending, even though i have all of them. What's happening? [link] [comments]  |

| iPhone Fails to Make Calls (x-post) Posted: 25 May 2018 11:57 AM PDT Ciao all! So, I won't make this long and I'll be concise as possible. I'm very technical yet can't figure this problem out. My iPhone refuses to make a call. I've tested headphone jack w/ headphones, Bluetooth, and just seeing if the speaker would be available. None of that worked. When I open the phone app and make a call the button to push it to the speaker the ability to do so doesn't appear and seems faded. Same when trying to use Hangouts (a google app) for a voice call. Anytime I try to make a FaceTime called, Facebook Video call, or receiving either the call instantly goes to 'failed'. So I decided it was best to restore the phone as new - that didn't work. Took my SIM out and also contacted my cell phone provider - nothing on their end. My phone was working fine until I upgraded to 11.3.1. Did diagnostic troubleshooting w/ Apple and sent them logs during a session and they found nothing wrong but other than I should restore it again. What does work? I can play Music and videos just fine with sound coming from the speaker. What doesn't work additionally? Recording voice memos Someone has to have an answer to help me! He recently purchased a iphone 6 through ebay and now he can't get it activated. He was going to set it up through straight talk and when he called, one of the employee's told him something about the PRL wasn't working and it was stuck at 1. This just doesn't sound right to me. Is this a legit thing? I don't use iphones, so this sounds confusing to me. After google searching and reddit browsing, i'm kinda lost. He's apparently tried restoring the phone and updating the PRL, which gave him a error. Was hoping someone could help me out here. [link] [comments]  |
