How is Firefox on battery life for Macbook? Posted: 27 Feb 2020 04:33 PM PST I usually keep a 2nd browser just in case something doesn't load for a webpage in Safari or I need to use an extension that isn't available. I used to have Chrome but I removed it after learning how much battery it drains. I heard Firefox had a battery life update for MacOS so I am wondering if there really was an improvement. Getting 12 inch keyboard replaced Posted: 27 Feb 2020 02:51 PM PST I have a 2017 12 inch MacBook that has a bad keyboard. The guy at the Apple Store told me they will replace the top shell and keyboard with the latest versions of those parts. Does anyone know if that means my keyboard will come back with the rubber membrane underneath? I remember the 12 inch being discontinued around that time. [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Feb 2020 06:12 PM PST Hi guys, I have a 2017 macbook air. I am not sure if this issue was present from the beginning or has just come to my notice. I was hoping some of you could help me out. So I was using firefox with the dark theme and noticed that the left side of the screen seemed darker on the page where it shows your frequently visited links as soon as you open firefox. I pulled up a grey screen and i could faintly see some form of border going around the screen. I understand that the air doesnt really have the best screen on the market and the viewing angles are terrible but I made a quick video and if you notice carefully you'll see a dark shadow going down the screen on both left and right about an inch inside the border of the display. I used the grey image here in this test - https://www.eizo.be/monitor-test/ (Image no 7) you can press space bar to hide the text on the screen. I have another image below. I have adjusted the contrast and sharpness to exaggerate the issue - http://imgur.com/Ew6bgqM Now this is only noticeable on grey screens and I was hoping you guys could help me figure out if this is acceptable for the macbook air display. Command +/- on my keyboard suddenly stopped working!! Posted: 27 Feb 2020 04:35 PM PST all of the sudden, my macbook air (new version)'s command +/- (on my keyboard) to zoom in and out stopped working. If you guys have experienced this before, how do you fix/unlock those keyboard buttons? [link] [comments]
What external SSD do you recommend? Posted: 27 Feb 2020 07:43 AM PST Hi, I am planning on getting a 1TB or 2TB external SSD for my 2015 13" MacBook Pro Retina. I was thinking of just getting the Samsung T5, as I've heard some great thing about it. But someone recommended the SanDisk SSD Extreme Portable. My question is if there is another SSD I should have a look at? What do you recommend? [link] [comments]
How to keep MacBook fully off while I clean it Posted: 27 Feb 2020 05:58 AM PST I want to clean my screen and my keyboard without the computer turning on so I can see if it's still dirty. I own a 2019 15 inch if it matters. [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 Feb 2020 02:12 AM PST I placed my MacBook on the work desk as usual. I left my work desk for hours for a meeting. When I came back, there were water droplets on the shell. (I suspect the water came from a dripping AC) I didn't think much of it. I wiped it off and tried to power it on but there's no response so I thought the battery was dead. I suspected it could be a water damage (which could be terrible since I tried to power it on), is there any way I can salvage it? How much approximately would the repair cost? I heard that the repair can cost up to USD2000 depending on the parts replaced. Can my documents still be salvaged? Edit : having a MacBook Air 2013 model [link] [comments]
Salvaging my old MacBook pro parts Posted: 27 Feb 2020 05:48 AM PST Hello people who know a lot more about this stuff than I do. I have a mid-2012 MacBook Pro that has finally reached the end of its life. It was fairly well upgraded for it's time as you can see here and I'm wondering if I can salvage some of its parts to put into a new MacBook. I'm a student now and I can't afford anything anywhere near top spec. So my plan is to buy something lower end such as this and use my 2.5ghz processor and 16gb of ram (that I upgraded to from the 8gb that I originally had on my 2012 MacBook). But will this actually be compatible and work? Thanks in advance [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 Feb 2020 05:14 AM PST After giving my son my old MacBook for high school, it was returned to me full of junk and with a few dents and dings. After a lot of cleaning, a new SSD drive and memory upgrade it's almost as good as new, but the apple tech who ran a diagnostic on it said the battery is near the end of its life and the DVD burner spits discs back out. Regarding the battery, is there a "new" replacement I can buy that's recommended or am I stuck with finding a used one that's not as bad [link] [comments]
Microsoft on an external hard drive partition Posted: 27 Feb 2020 04:39 AM PST Hey guys, I wanted to know the process to use Microsoft Windows on my MacBook but on an external hard drive, in my case its a Western Digital make. I have created partitions on it, I use the same hard drive for Time machine backups as well and also it has a partition to transfer files. One of the partition being for Microsoft. I followed the instructions by 9to5 Mac but somehow that procedure erased by drive partitions. I humbly ask you if anyone else had tried this I also learnt that I can't use bootcamp for this. Any links or videos would be appreciated. Thanks [link] [comments] |
