Posted: 28 Feb 2020 12:23 AM PST OK, so I've been in the Android camp for the last 10-12 years... yeah, I did not hop on the iPhone-train when I had the chance and got used to Android and I realize that I need help, badly. I used to run a version of LineageOS without anything Google, almost. And anything Google was pretty much isolated. I used the sandbox app Island to make sure that all applications that I suspected to do funky stuff got about access and everything was firewalled off. So yeah, it took me a while to configure but my last phone ran solidly for almost 4 years... with a battery change in the middle. OK, backstory done... let's get onto the juicy stuff. I am used to have Tasker running my life for me, disable bluetooth, wifi and whatnot just to make sure the attack surface is as small as possible. I've looked at shortcuts but I find it lacking. It's almost as Apple thought, "Hey, let's make some automation but leave it at about 40-50% complete." What are my options? Next, Carplay. It's annoying to have to fiddle with the screen when I don't recognize a song playing and I am using the navigation in full screen. In Android Auto I got a small notification at the top of the screen showing the track that I just switched to. I've been fiddling with notifications in Maps and Spotify but apparently I am not as tech savvy as I thought... Can't find anything, I have notifications enabled. I used an app called Exodus on Android to check all outgoing connections, what should I use on iPhone? Is it possible to disable the behavior that when I answer a call on the phone, whilst having my bluetooth handsfree connected, the sound is transfered to the handset even if I was listening to something in my headphones? Can I, when open specific apps, make sure that the orientation is locked and as soon as I close that open app the orientation is no longer locked? I used Blokada for system wide ad blocking, what should I use instead? Really hope that I can get some useful info and help from you guys... I really need it. And holy shit, sorry for the really long post. [link] [comments] |
Text notification sound issues Posted: 27 Feb 2020 09:15 PM PST Sometimes (only sometimes) when my mom texts me I'll get a notification on the screen but it doesn't make a sound. I never put Do Not Disturb on, made sure the volume is up, made sure my sound notifications were on for her contact specifically, and still half the time I don't get any sound notification. Posted: 27 Feb 2020 07:29 PM PST I will take a picture and it takes it after I clicked and held the phone there, so it shows my motion after the fact in the picture. It doesn't happen all the time, but not sure why it's happening. I hold it there for a good amount of time. Is there a setting to fix this or am I doing something wrong? [link] [comments] |
iPhone XR bright spot within lcd screen Posted: 27 Feb 2020 07:32 AM PST Just got a used XR from eBay as I'm unable to afford a brand new iPhone. Everything looks and works great except for a small bright spot at the bottom of the lcd screen, mostly visible when I'm looking at all white pages. I've researched and it looks like it could be an lcd defect. My question is, is it worth going through the hassle to return or is this just a no big deal cosmetic flaw that won't lead to any long term problems? It doesn't bother me too much, I'm mostly worried about long term complications from it. Thank you all for your help. Edit: I don't have another camera or phone on hand to take a pic of my screen, but it looks similar to the spot on this screen https://m.imgur.com/0n7UH0J [link] [comments] |
iPhone 7 Plus cannot hear anything on calls or voicemail Posted: 27 Feb 2020 05:34 PM PST I tried to call multiple people and they cannot hear me nor can I hear them. I also received a voicemail earlier that appeared to be nothing. Until I restarted my phone was I able to make calls and listen to the voicemail. I though all was fine until a few hours later a friend tried to call me and nothing was working; FaceTime, voice calling, and even Facebook video chats weren't connecting. I turned off the Bluetooth to make sure I wasn't accidentally connecting to anything else. I tried speaker and connecting it to my car radio and nothing worked. When I was in the call my speaker button seemed to be blinking though. Also after getting failed video calls i looked at my command page and there was an x on the WiFi button and it was greyed out but my WiFi was plugged in and working fine on everything else. Texting and apps have been working just fine throughout the day. Help!! [link] [comments] |

Dropped 7 plus in water and now just turns on/off repeatedly. Help! Posted: 27 Feb 2020 01:20 PM PST Dropped phone in water. Turns on and off repeatedly? Dropped phone (7 plus) in the sink five hours ago and wiped it off with towels and blow dried it. Seemed dry so I plugged it in the charger and it was working completely fine. Then about 3 hours ago, the home button died on me and it won't press at all, although it still registers the fingerprints and double taps. So I can't go to the home screen or unlock my phone with the home button. Turned it off and placed it next to a heater to get the water out after I saw some condensation near the camera region. Now, for some reason, for the past hour or so, it's been turning on and off repeatedly. It's not turned fully on or off either, just has the apple logo that appears and disappears every twenty seconds or so. Any recommendations or tips? Thank you!!! I have lots of important photos and stuff of my HS graduation that was a couple weeks ago and would hate to lose it :( [link] [comments] |

iPhone 11 Pro Portrait Mode 2x Posted: 27 Feb 2020 06:38 AM PST My iPhone 11 Pro always loads the 2x portrait mode by default when switching to the Portrait mode. I thought it was remember settings but I turned that off. Is there any way to make it go to 1x when switching to portrait? [link] [comments] |
