I’m finally joining the Mac family! Posted: 23 Nov 2019 11:32 AM PST Ever since I was 8 I wanted to make iOS apps. I am finally going to be able to accomplish that dream as soon as I get my hands on the MacBook Pro Touchbar 13" space gray! I'm so excited. (I'm 16 now so it's been a long time wanting one of these) [link] [comments]
Crumb stuck in between screen and back casing Posted: 23 Nov 2019 05:30 PM PST I'm about to lose my mind. I've spent two months babying my laptop and then yesterday a crumb decide to get on the side of my screen. So I tried blowing it out and it went into the little space in-between the glass and the metal casing. I tried using my nail to get it out and it lodged it even more. I tried a toothpick and that didn't work. I tried a small needle and that didn't work. Idk what to do [link] [comments]
Has anyone seen an attachable, foldable, low level stand for MacBooks? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 08:21 PM PST I have the 2018 MacBook Air, which in most ways is my ideal device, however there is one way I think it could be improved and that is if the back of the laptop could be raised slightly. This would give the keyboard a bit more of an ergonomic typing angle, rather than being completely flat on a surface, and present the screen slightly higher. There are plenty of free-standing stands, a couple of which I own, such as the Twelve South Curve. I also bought the Moft "Invisible Laptop Stand", which is probably the closest to ideal so far. However, the Curve is too much, too high and not really portable, although nice to have at home with my LG monitor and seperate keyboard. The Moft raised the MacBook just a bit too much, for my liking, plus it is a bit too flexible and doesn't feel solid enough when typing. I guess what I am after is a device that sticks on the bottom of the MacBook, like the Moft, but is more solid and doesn't elevate it quite so much, a bit like a keyboard that has a couple of 'legs' you can flip-out when needed, but that can also fold away when not needed. I considered getting a couple of the Spigen Style Rings, but I'm not sure they would be robust or solid enough. Has anyone come across anything that might fit my needs, please? [link] [comments]
Why do MacBooks open without holding down the keyboard? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 08:18 PM PST I don't know if this has been asked before but I couldn't find any answers or I didn't know how to search for them. But I have never used another laptop, that isn't a MacBook, without needing to hold down the keyboard while opening the lid. How does this work? I really like this [link] [comments]

Which Macbook should I buy ? (Student) Posted: 23 Nov 2019 07:05 PM PST At the moment I'm split between getting a 2019 refurbished air or a 2019 refurbished pro. I'm currently in high school, however this laptop would most likely last me through university. Should I go with the cheaper air or spend an extra $250 on the pro ? [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Nov 2019 04:13 PM PST Hello there! I was wondering if it's possible to actually upgrade a 2017 MacBook Pro. Could you tell if it's possible at all? And if it is, then how can you replace an SSD? Thanks in advance!!! [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Nov 2019 01:16 PM PST I want to trade in my 15inch MBP 2019 for the new 16 as the keyboard was basically unbearable for me. It's too late to return it but in the Apple website the latest MBP for trade in is the 2018 model. What should I do? [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Nov 2019 09:26 AM PST How do i ensure my macbook is totally wiped for selling? Went to disk utility , erased both Macintosh HD and Macintosh HD - Data , reinstalling a fresh catalina in the process, is this enough or is there additional steps that i should take to ensure most / all data are wiped? What are the chances the MacBook Air receives a refresh next year along with the 13” MacBook Pro? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 12:52 PM PST I'd like to upgrade to a new Air, but I don't want to do that now and then miss out on the opportunity of buying the 2020 model that might have the "new" scissor keyboard. Thoughts? [link] [comments]
Nice thing that happened on this annoying day with my MacBook... Posted: 23 Nov 2019 12:24 PM PST I planned on selling my 15'' MacBook to get the new 16''. The person didn't show up because they slept in. This is after I deleted and reset the MacBook. So I go to set it up again and, within an hour, everything I had on my MacBook is back on it. I was prepared to redownload and lose screenshots and all that stuff, but sure enough it's all on my Desktop and in my Calendar and everything. Apple's really cool. This computer's pretty cool. Posted: 23 Nov 2019 08:20 AM PST Long story short - I am using a MacBook Air (pre 2018 model) and today Ireceived a notification that a new update for MacOS Catalina is available. I closed all my tabs and apps and I let it run while I went to the gym. When I came back, I had on the screen the error that there isn't enough space for the update to be made and I was stuck in that loop not being able to delete 5gb for the update. I used the recovery utilities, I realised that I haven't backed up my stuff in the time machine ever so I went to erase my drive and reinstall the MacOS. It went well until this error showed up with 4 mins before the end error It won't work and the only thing I can enter is the MacOS utilities. Also, when restarting it does something like this . What should I do to fix it? I would like to use it during the weekend. Thx [link] [comments]
MacBook Pro (2018): almost 1 Year old - should I be concerned with the keyboard now? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 11:55 AM PST I have no keyboard failures so far. Everything is holding up really well, I haven't babied the computer nor the keyboard. I write quite a lot every day as well. Should I be concerned at any point now with possible keyboard failure? I don't know wether Im lucky, or If the 2018 model was already superior to their predecessors regarding butterfly keyboard reliability. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Nov 2019 07:01 AM PST Hello! My macbook air (mid 2013) doesn't work anymore (water damage...). I opened the macbook and removed the SSD ans would like to connect it via USB with my other Macbook - just to download and readout my data from the old SSD. It's just a onetime readout - so I don't need a case for 70$ or else. What kind of adapters do I need (SSD -> SATA -> USB?!) - Would really nice if you could send some amazon-links or else, so I can simply buy them. Thanks alot in advance! [link] [comments]
Which older MacBook keyboard is most similar to new MacBook Pro 16-inch? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 10:28 AM PST I'm picking up a new MBP 16-inch and plan to use a keyboard cover. Unfortunately, it hasn't been that long since release, so I haven't been able to find a cover for it on the market. (Would appreciate a link if anyone has found one!) My questions is: Which older MacBook keyboard is most similar to new MacBook Pro 16-inch? I'm planning to just buy a cover for one of the older MacBook models with the inverted T arrows and hope it fits the new keyboard. Are there specs out there comparing different keyboards? If not, I was thinking of just getting a keyboard cover for the older, 2015 MBP 15-inch keyboard: https://www.amazon.com/UPPERCASE-Premium-Keyboard-Protector-Macbook/dp/B00AQFFSAG/ref=sr_1_14?keywords=macbook+15+inch+touch+bar+keyboard+cover+older&qid=1574533609&sr=8-14 Thoughts/advice? MacBook Pro 16" i9 v. Mac mini i7 - Benchmarks? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 12:28 AM PST I'm looking to get a new laptop or a Mac mini, the choice of which depends on which has the faster CPU under load. I have yet to see any good comparisons of the Mac mini v. the new MacBook Pro, so I'm at a loss as to how to compare them properly in this regard. Any and all help would be appreciated. Edit: The only proper comparison I've found so far of the 2018 so far is this BareFeats article. It might be possible to compare the Mac mini i7 benchmarks against the "old" i9 MacBook Pro to get a percentage difference. Roughly? [link] [comments]
When you watch fullscreen videos are the black bars flush with the bezels or do they stick out? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 09:00 AM PST When I watch reviews of MBA 2019s and they watch a video to test the screen the black bars aren't identifiable. When I watch videos in fullscreen I can clearly distinguish the black bars from the bezels. Is this normal or does my display need to be calibrated. [link] [comments]
Upgrading from 2017 13” touch bar to the 16”? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 08:40 AM PST Hey guys, currently having a small dilemma whether it's worth upgrading to the new 16" base model. I love my 2017 13" touch bar model, it's the 3.1ghz/8gb/256gb ssd model, 4 ports. However, i've had the keyboard fail twice since receiving it, and a few close calls with a few keys sticking for a day or so. With the free keyboard/top case replacement service ending soon, with it then being an inevitable and potential consistent issue (ultimately costing myself hundreds of dollars), would it be worth it going to the new 16"? I would be more than happy with the base model, and would mainly be upgrading obviously due to the spec increase, but more so that I wouldn't end up with a keyboard bound to fail at any moment, especially after the replacement program is over. I'd overall probably be looking at selling the current macbook for $1200-1300 AUD and then get the base model for $3800. Just wanting second thoughts from fellow macbook enthusiasts, thanks! Posted: 23 Nov 2019 03:55 AM PST I have a MacBook Air 2017 and an iPad Pro 2018. I edit photos on the Mac. I've noticed though that the pictures look hazy and soft and a little fuzzy like they're slightly out of focus when I have them loaded on photoshop on the MacBook. But when I transfer the image to the iPad it looks sharp. So the question I have is why? How come the images look soft and what not while on the Mac but the exact same file looks great on the iPad? Could this be a settings issue? Both devices are up to date with software etc. [link] [comments]
