How should you treat your battery on a new MacBook Pro? Posted: 21 Oct 2019 07:03 PM PDT I got a new MacBook last Thursday. I've barely used it so far and basically just had it charging during all the installation and updates (I immediately downloaded Catalina, I hope that was correct). I'm gonna be away for half a week, but I can let someone at home know to plug it in if that's what's best. I've heard stuff like that it's best to keep it between 30%-90%, to keep it charging all the time, etc... [link] [comments]
2011 MacBook Pro: repair or replace? Posted: 21 Oct 2019 11:48 PM PDT So my early 2011 15" MacBook Pro i7 has been having issues. I took it to a local repair shop who has been great in the past, and they told me the whole logic board would need to be replaced which would be a $4-500 repair. Before this happened, the HDD was being very loud and making grinding noises so I assume that will also need to be replaced in the near future. That would put my at closer to $700+ in repairs. At this point, I'm finding myself faced with a difficult decision. Is it even worth repairing for a laptop that's this old? Or is it time to look into possibly getting a new refurbished MacBook Pro? TIA! [link] [comments]

Bought a Macbook Pro on Ebay and suspect it does not have what the ad said it does Posted: 21 Oct 2019 03:44 PM PDT I'm really hoping for a kind soul or two to help a not-so-tech-savvy individual with technical problem. I bought a MacBook Pro on Ebay and I suspect it doesn't have the specs that were advertised. I've linked the ad at the bottom. I was just trying to stream netflix and there is excessive (what I'm going to call) screen jumpiness. The display was not fluid at all and there was some lag between the lips moving and hearing the words. So I came to Reddit to type out a post and the cursor even lags what I type. It's doing it right now. I've looked at the "About this Mac" section and it all matches the ad but I can't believe that with 16GB RAM, Core i7, Radeon HD 6750 card tha I can't even scroll through a website without the screen jumping as I scroll. Is there any way to find out if the hardware matches the specs? I really want to send it back to them but I'm concerned that without a good reason, they won't take it. Link to the ad: Thanks. Is there a way to increase the size of the "left click" area on the track pad? Posted: 21 Oct 2019 02:04 PM PDT I've just updated with a brand new 13" and the track pad is huge compared to my old 2009 17" model. I keep trying to left click and I end up right clicking. Is there a way to make the left click area bigger? Say 75% of the trackpad, with 25% for right clicking? This way I won't have to move my right hand so far over, and lift my hand off my palm resting on the computer. It's a small thing, but I do it so often it's annoying. Other than that, love the upgrade! [link] [comments]
What is the latest UPGRADABLE MacBook Pro> (Unsoldered motherboard) Posted: 21 Oct 2019 09:31 AM PDT I'm currently running 2011 late and planning to get something else soon enough. Yesterday, I was setting up my friend's new 2017 (old stock) and realized that she is stuck with 128gb SSD storage and that is it. I read that stuff is soldered on the motherboard and (I think) replacing the parts require motherboard replacement. Okay, that is something I cannot live with. So, I was wondering what is the latest MacBook Pro that lets me replacement SSD and ram if I want to in future? Bonus if you know, what is the the latest model with replicable HD (only hd) [link] [comments]
Does connecting the MacBook to another monitor, via HDMI, heat up the MacBook more? Posted: 21 Oct 2019 02:32 AM PDT Just curious if this is just a coincidence or not.. My laptop's been heating up pretty badly lately. [link] [comments]

Estimated price for a 2015 MacBook Pro? Posted: 21 Oct 2019 10:46 AM PDT Apologies if this isn't the correct subreddit to ask this, but it was the only one I was able to find that was the closest one. I was recently given a 2015 MacBook pro, but due to already having a laptop, I'm looking to sell it for a decent price. Besides some wear and tear, its essentially a new laptop. As it was a school issued computer, there's no files, downloads, or sign ins. The specs for it are MacBook Pro (Retina, 13- inch, Early 2015), 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 gigabytes of memory on a 1867 MHz DDR3, Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB, 13.3- Inch Display (2560 x 1600), 121 gigabytes of storage, Anyone help would be greatly appreciated.
