Google Maps only delivers navigation silently unless the app is on screen Posted: 07 May 2019 07:33 PM PDT I'm not entirely sure if I remember correctly, but I feel like I remember notifications for Google Maps being delivered whether or not I had the app open on my screen. In any case, lately whenever I am using Google maps navigation and I am either A) in another app or B) have the screen locked, I do not receive any notification or sound to alert me of upcoming directions or whatever. Apple Maps, and obviously pretty much every other app behaves normally. It's rather frustrating having to leave my screen on with Google Maps open the entire time I'm driving to ensure that I get directions. I have double checked the notifications screen and settings, and everything is enabled and turned on. For reference I have an Apple Watch that also receives no notifications unless the app is on screen. If my phone is unlocked but, for example, in Spotify, then I will receive a banner but it's silent. Is this the intended behavior on iOS or am I missing something? [link] [comments] |
My iPhone XS Max is too slow to use Posted: 07 May 2019 10:35 PM PDT My iPhone XS Max is a few months old and it's had many connectivity issues. I tried everything I could find online (short of a factory reset) before taking into the Sprint store. The Sprint store didn't help, so I did a factory reset, and that worked up until today. I can't connect to my home WiFi (but I can connect to other WiFi networks for whatever reasons). No one else has an issue connecting to our WiFi. I can't run many apps and those I can are impossibly slow. I can't keep doing factory resets because I have many apps I use for work. I've only used 16GB of storage out of 64. I'm not downloading anything I shouldn't be, as far as I can tell. Every time I call Sprint or take my phone in they can't find anything wrong. Please help. I am so tired and frustrated with this. My full-time job is through my phone. I would be so grateful for some help. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 07 May 2019 10:59 AM PDT I'm trying to recover an email that was stored in old iphone 4 that I hadn't used in a few years. My husband passed away suddenly and I pulled the old iphone out of storage. He had written me a very sweet email that is no longer on my gmail for some reason, but it was in the gmail (that had no been updated to the new password in a few years) was in the mailbox on the old iphone when I opened it. Hope this makes sense so far. I went to read the email. The old iphone 4 feels so different in my hand. I went to scroll down and accidentally pressed "delete" which was right in the middle at the bottom of the screen as I was simply trying to scroll. The email disappeared. I am so upset because I had been wanting to find this email for over a year now. I have tried searching everywhere. It is not in the trash folder. It is gone. I also tried to do the request to gmail to recover permanently deleted emails. They ask when you first noticed the email went missing and I was not sure what date to put, so I tried it more than once. I haven't been able to recover the email. I realize this may not be just an iphone problem, but the email was accessible in my iphone 4 when I pulled up mail and now it is no longer there... Any ideas on how I can recover this email? If I take it a store that specializes in mac repairs, would they be able to help somehow? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 May 2019 08:33 AM PDT I pretty much always have the mute switch on the side of the iPhone flipped on. For some reason, I get a spam call almost every morning before my alarm goes off. Recently, what's been happening is the sound for the call will come through (at a volume lower than the alerts volume is set to), and the alarm will not sound. The alarm vibrates twice, and that's it, which does not wake me up. I don't know what's causing this, and it seems to happen randomly. As in my alarm will work correctly for a couple days, and then this issue will come up again. The only way I've found to fix it is to turn the phone off and on again. Then everything works like it's supposed to. Any idea why this happens or how to fix it? [link] [comments] |
iPhone XR Shuts Down at Specific Location Posted: 07 May 2019 07:23 AM PDT All right, boys, this is gonna sound utterly mental because it is. A couple months ago I got a shiny new iPhone XR. Not long afterward it started shutting down on its own, even at like 50% battery. It's a nightmare to turn back on; it seems like I have to wait for the battery to die, then plug it in, and then turn it on when it's got a little charge. Plugging it in before the battery dies doesn't seem to do anything; it's just a dead/black screen and I generally can't boot it up or force-restart it. Once or twice I've been able to force-restart it, but it always shuts down again shortly thereafter such that I have to default to the above method. I thought I might have a faulty battery until I realized this always happens in the same place, at a buddy's house. Anyone have a guess as to what's going on here? I'm thinking it might have to do with Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/GPS. [link] [comments] |

Can’t get rid of Siri suggestions music widget on lock screen Posted: 07 May 2019 08:38 AM PDT I've gone through my settings and toggled off all Siri suggestions as well as scrolling down to music and turning off 'Siri and suggestions', but I still have the huge suggestion widget on my lock screen. Is there a setting I'm missing that will let me get rid of it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 May 2019 01:21 AM PDT So first some background information: I have an iPhone 6S, running on iOS 12.2. Last saturday (May 4th) my battery died during a phone call. I charged it and went to bed. After this happened, I don't get any notifications from apps that use internet (I only get notifications from text messages & phone calls, but not WhatsApp, FB Messenger, instagram, snapchat...). I have restarted my iPhone, uninstalled and reïnstalled the apps but it doesn't work. Also, when someone sends me a message (via Whatsapp or FB-Messenger) it doesn't deliver unless I open the app. My settings are set to allow background activity. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this? [link] [comments] |
