I'm just super disappointed about my new 2000€ MBP 13" 2018 model Posted: 08 May 2019 02:16 PM PDT I just switched from my old very loved MBP 13" 2015 model to the newest MBP 13" 2018 model.
Feels like going a step backwards. It's a 2000€ device and it doesn't even comes close to the MBP 2015 model. Which btw looks almost the same... Just wanted to share my thoughts - maybe I'm not the only one. Thinking about sending it back. Never was disappointed by a device from Apple before 😔 The MBP 2015 was just perfect. In any way. Edit: Just forgot to mention the missing backlight logo which looked iconic and amazing in the evening. [link] [comments]

How to insure after AppleCare+ Posted: 08 May 2019 07:29 PM PDT Hi I'm planning on buying the new mbp 2018, I assumed if you had purchased the AppleCare+ extended warranty, you would be able to continue extending it, but I've been told otherwise. So, I was wondering if there is another service out there that I can use to insure my product after the 3 year warranty runs out. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Just bought a used 2015 15" MBP. Worked fine for a day now it's having issues. Posted: 08 May 2019 07:09 PM PDT 2015 15" 2.5ghz i7 with Radeon 370X graphics 256MB SSD I'm planning on giving this to my GF for her birthday in July. I received it yesterday and booted it up to make sure all was well. Today I updated the OS to Mojave without issue, then installed Chrome, and started watching a Youtube video which froze near the end of the video. I couldn't get it to recover so I did a hard shutdown, now it won't boot. The apple chime sounds, then the apple display shows, and the loading bar gets to about 45% before the screen goes black. I tried the shift+option+control+power which makes the magsafe connector turn green breifly before going back to charging amber. No luck. I also tried the PRAM reset ( Command+Option+P+R before apple logo) with no better result. A friend of mine suggested that he had a similar issue which ended up being a defective logic board. I figured I'd ask here before taking it in for repair to be sure. Any ideas? [link] [comments]

Mid 2012 13 inch vs Mid 2012 15 inch retina? Posted: 08 May 2019 05:06 PM PDT So I'm taking a mobile app development course in school and our school MacBooks really aren't up to snuff. I'm looking locally to just buy something cheap to use for the course, and I've landed on two options:
It's been a while since I've owned a MacBook, do you think the retina is worth the extra money? The bigger screen and higher resolution aren't as important (of course they're nice, but not absolutely critical), but the better processor and SSD are tempting, even though it's 1/3 the storage space. I do have an iPhone, but I'm not super integrated into Apple culture so I'm not planning on this laptop lasting me for years, I'm mainly getting it for my class this semester. That being said, I've never been one to just get the absolute cheapest option. If I have two options with one being a bit more expensive but the better investment, I'll go for that. Anyways, what do you guys think? [link] [comments]
2015 model external drive speeds? Posted: 08 May 2019 04:42 PM PDT 2015 model external drive speeds? Can anyone link me to the speeds I can expect from an external drive connected to the usb3 port on this model? I want to figure out whether an ssd is worth the pretty massive cost increase for extra external storage. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Is the base model MacBook Air (2017), enough for a student? Posted: 08 May 2019 07:34 AM PDT I might only upgrade the storage from 128 GB to 256 GB. So, is the i5 processor enough (even though it's fifth-gen at 1.8 GHZ) for the following tasks:
I might use it for 1080p video editing, but only rarely. What are your thoughts? [link] [comments]
New owner of a MacBook Pro here Posted: 08 May 2019 04:15 PM PDT So I have the new 2018 model of the MacBook Pro and I just also got a dell slim dvd drive. It is able to burn discs obviously but it says I need Power2Go 2.0 which is in the disc included with the burner but I don't have a disc drive so nothing happens. I have tried free disc burning programs but they always say they are outdated for the MacBook and won't work. It does start burning but errors keep popping up. What should I do? What are essential apps that keep you tied to macbooks/osx? Posted: 08 May 2019 12:14 PM PDT If you could buy a non OSX macbook for 1/2 the price, what apps would keep you from making the switch? [link] [comments]
2011 Macbook Pro: Having both video in/out on a single Thunderbolt 1 port Posted: 08 May 2019 10:14 AM PDT Hey guys! He would like to use the adapter to record a person on a green screen live with a reflex, process the live video via OBS Studio and send it back on a projector. The thing is: while the thunderbolt is busy getting the video input, how can the Macbook output the video out to the projector? TL;DR: Would like to set a green screen with a reflex-->capture the video to the Macbook and have it edited live-->output the video. [link] [comments]

what happen if my macbook connected to external monitor with larger resolution? Posted: 08 May 2019 03:44 AM PDT So I have this early 2011 macbook pro https://everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core-i7-2.7-13-early-2011-unibody-thunderbolt-specs.html I want to buy new external monitor, https://www.amazon.com/27UK600-W-Faster-Widescreen-Backlight-Monitor/dp/B07B8S5V71 Based on link on everymac, max resolution for my mac is 2560x1600, then the new monitor i want to buy has 3840x2160. so it's bigger than max resolution supported by my mac. so i want to ask, what happened if i use that monitor? is it will downgraded to 2560x1600 as my max res, or it will off and not working? yeah i can just buy monitor with 2560x1600, but in the future i want to buy new macbook and new macbook must have no problem with that 3840 screen. so i think it's good to buy that large monitor for future saving. what do you think?
