Broken Macbook pro retina screen Posted: 16 May 2019 06:48 PM PDT Hello all! I have a late 2013 13" Macbook Pro with retina display and the LCD screen recently shattered. It's still usable right now but every day it gets a little bit worse, and I know I'll eventually have to fix it. All of the options I've found to fix it are about $500. Does anyone know of a cheaper way to repair this? Other than the screen, the laptop works just as great as the day I got it. I love this computer but it would kill me to pay $500 to fix it. Thanks! Replacing logic board to install I7-8559U Posted: 16 May 2019 11:13 PM PDT I have a 13" 2015 MBP. I thought it would be great to install I7-8559U (the best CPU on 13" MBPs) because comparison. Great case of 2015 + great performance of 2018. Battery is bigger, case is better and overheating is less of a problem To upgrade CPU, you have to replace the whole logic board people say. I'm just curious. Have you heard of anyone installing I7-8559U~ into a 2015~ case? [link] [comments] |
MacBook Pro 2016 backlight not functioning properly after 10.14.5 update Posted: 16 May 2019 08:40 PM PDT I recently updated my macOS to 10.14.5 and the next day my display's backlight switched off out of nowhere. I flashed my flashlight onto the display and found out that my display is functioning properly as I'm able to see my desktop but the backlight is not functioning. This wold mean that the display is fine. I called Apple support and they suggested me to get a hardware checkup done as it might be a issue in the logic board. Today morning when I checked my MacBook again to backup things (while flashing my flashlight) the backlight was functioning normally. I was surprised. After a few minutes when the laptop went to sleep and I tried pressing the keys it didn't work again, now it's back on. I think the issue is with the backlight cable going to the display but I'm not sure. Anyone having/had similar issues? EDIT - I just realised that the backlight goes off if I tilt it beyond a certain angle. Certainly has to be a display cable issue. [link] [comments] |
Should I to get AppleCare within 60 days frame? Posted: 16 May 2019 06:04 PM PDT I'm short on money due to school supplies and other bills; but I need to protect my MBP. I bought my 2018 MBP in mid April and I got until 3rd July to purchase on the AppleCare. If I get AppleCare after the 60 days frame, say in 3-4 months or even maybe just before the one year warranty come up, am I still able to get it for my MBP? I'm a noob, first Mac and all, so apologies if I asked a stupid questions? EDIT: I'm from Australia [link] [comments] |
Posted: 16 May 2019 06:10 AM PDT I have 2 options.
There is no other option. So I'm wondering how future proof is MBP 2015? My main concerns for future are CPU and GPU, since new apps, websites and frameworks increasingly use more resources. If latest models were well built like the 2015 ones, I'd get a new one right now but their build quality, keyboard, ports and battery life seem to not deserve the $$ (according to what people say on the internet). For that reason, I purchased a 2015 model in 2017.

Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet? Posted: 16 May 2019 10:56 AM PDT Is there a cable instead of an adapter? I have been researching but to no avail. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 16 May 2019 11:51 AM PDT Im not willing to pay a shitload of money for a tochbar i hate even without using it. So either i buy a 2017 Pro or last years Air. (Even though im not sure if i should buy a macbook at all after all the keyboard issues, and just go for a huawei matebook pro x). Any experience about how the macbook air handlig semi-heavyduty stuff like logic, ableton or any music software? [link] [comments] |
Screen protector for MBA 2018, yes or no? Posted: 16 May 2019 09:49 AM PDT Hi, I just was wondering whether having a screen protector is good idea or not. Is tempered glass better or tpu? Will it leave any marks if I remove it? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Early 2015 MacBook Pro Sound Significantly Lower [HELP] Posted: 16 May 2019 09:38 AM PDT Not sure if this is the best place to post. My Mac has always had great sound, but as of late that has changed. I have to wear headphones if I want to hear anything well that isn't BOOMING loudly. At max volume I can play in the dead of night with my door open and no complaints from my roomie. Everything is maxed out- output on settings, and individual volume control and it does nothing to help. My phone at 50% volume is MUCH louder. What's wrong? Is there anything I can fix on my own, or do I need to bring it in? [link] [comments] |
