Creating a zip opens a new finder window. Please stop! Posted: 18 Feb 2019 04:44 PM PST I select a few files, right-click and select "Compress", then a new window opens with that zip. So annoying. I don't want that new window. ​ I found the Archive Utility and have unchecked "Reveal archive in Finder". MacOS issue - Microsoft Teams opens without text.. Posted: 18 Feb 2019 04:28 PM PST Hello all, need assistance with a ticket I am currently fighting with at work. This is for Macbook pro - macOS 10.14.3 (18D109) Darwin 18.2.0. The issue is that Microsoft Teams is opening up Blank whenever we launch it. Teams just shows a purple box (loading box) and the white box for Microsoft login but there is NO text or images in either. We have uninstalled and reinstalled with App Cleaner and deleted MS cache folder. Also, restarted and checked app store for updates but none were available. I really do not know what else to do here. A little background on this she was having performance issues and ending up making her a new Mac account on her machine because nothing would resolve the performance. ALSO i uninstalled with app cleaner from her old profile as well. We added her office 365 account to internet accounts and that didnt help either. This issue is happening on the new profile. Got an old iMac from work. How do I reinstall the OS? Posted: 18 Feb 2019 08:34 AM PST We're getting rid of a lot of components at work and I was able to go home with an iMac. Problem is, I know nothing about it. I just figured it'd be fun to toy around with since I don't know anything about troubleshooting Macs. I got it home, plugged it in and wiped everything just to be sure, now I can't figure out how to reinstall the OS. It wants to reinstall Lion, however I don't have a CD/DVD for it and as far as I can tell stores don't carry boxed copies of older OS's anymore. I don't have any other Macs in the house so I have no clue how I'm going to prepare a USB installer. Case overly sensitive Posted: 18 Feb 2019 03:47 PM PST The flipping case sensitive issue has reared its head. What I don't get is how or why Time Machine would take the data on a case insensitive SSD and save it onto a TM HD that is case-sensitive, but can't perform the restore of the case-insensitive data to the case-insensitive SSD. Also beyond me is why this is suddenly an issue, when I've been using Apple since OS 6, and TM doesn't even give you a what's up as to the possibility of data being incompatible on the way back out from TM! The problem is compounded now that I bothered to reformat the SSD to case-sensitive in order to stop TM from telling me that the drive has the wrong C-S. Going back into TM, now it tells me AGAIN that the SSD has the wrong C-S, when it shouldn't be doing that at all. I'm about to throw this thing at the wall. And catching up on the latest info re: Adobe and other softs being incompatible with the whole C-S thing infuriates me beyond my usual had-it-up-to-here-with-this level. Fan going off like crazy when Screensaver is on Posted: 18 Feb 2019 01:26 PM PST I have a pretty new (2018) MacBook Air 13" Retina with the latest Mojave release, and I noticed that sometimes, especially when the screesaver is on, the fan starts blowing like crazy, although there's not much load on the system (today, for example, only a music app was running when that happened). This happens rather occasionally. Has anyone had similar experiences? Is there a good (free) app to monitor system / CPU load or temperatures? That behavior concerns / confuses me a bit, because I have no clue why the fan is going off like that and at the same time I'm afraid of overheating issues. Any advice is appreciated. External Drive Does not show up on Finder. Able to access it from Disc Utility. Signs of impending failure? Posted: 18 Feb 2019 12:31 PM PST I'm able to access, read and write from my external USB HD using the disc utility and not finder. It always showed up in finder before tho not really sure why this happened all of a sudden. I used the finder preference and checked to display external drives, rebooted mac, and also checked to make sure the drive was "mounted" in disc utility. If I right click on the drive in disc utility and select "show in finder" it'll pop up a screen of the drive and I can access and use it as normal. ~5s UI Hang when dragging a newly opened MS Office document across displays Posted: 18 Feb 2019 04:40 AM PST Wondering if anyone else has this problem. I have MS Office (due to necessity, not preference) installed under the MS installer (i.e., not new app store installs). If I open, for example, a Word document and drag it from one external display to another, my entire UI will hang for about 5 seconds or so with the window halfway across screens. Sometimes this even locks the mouse, sometimes not. After the ~5s, it 'unlocks' and behaves normally. A few other characteristics: Opening a second document and dragging it across the same screens does not cause the issue Dragging the document to a third screen re-triggers the issue. It seems like the issue happens once per screen Fully closing Word and re-opening triggers the problem to happen again. Quod Libet Music Player - Dark Mode Posted: 18 Feb 2019 06:07 AM PST I recently installed the Quod Libet music player on my Mac and I like it. The only thing I can't find is the "dark mode" setting for the UI. Apparently there is one (I think I saw it somewhere), but I can't figure out how to activate / enable that. Any help? EDIT: After some research I found it out myself.
