Huawei cloning Apple parts, rewarding employees for tech theft

I would pay a stupid amount to be able to get the oleophobic coating on your iPhone refreshed in-store, giving it that brand-new fresh feeling a year or more later.

$50? Worth it. $75? Maybe. $150? Probably what 2019 Apple would charge.

Something I’ve noticed over the years with iOS playback settings...

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 06:34 PM PST

So just for full disclosure, I've been on the iPhone since 2007 (the first iPhone ever). Over the years there have been many advances, and I'm still in love with the UX and the overall experience with the iPhone.

But I have one niggle that has been bothering me more and more during the past few years... probably since iOS 7 or so, but it's been getting worse. I wonder if anyone else has been experiencing this issue.

So when I play a podcast, which I do often, and then take my AirPods/EarPods out and browse reddit or open different apps, I go back into control center to start playing where I left off. Yet it defaults back to my Apple Music. Almost always. The podcast app hasn't been closed, and in fact was opened more recently than the music app, which also has been open in the background.

I wouldn't be bitching about this were it not for the fact that this did not used to happen. A few years ago, with a much older iPhone, I was able to start back up my podcast after many hours of not using that app, through control center. I feel like after every update this becomes less consistent, to the point where I am constantly having to go to the podcasts app and hit play.

Why? I have a better iPhone than I ever did in the past. Wtf is causing this? No I haven't submitted this to Apple feedback because I feel like they clearly don't care. Seriously though, why is this happening? Because Apple Music I paid for and podcasts are still free?

Sorry about the rant but this has been bugging me for the better part of two years and I had to get it off my chest. I'm still a loyal Apple customer, love their hardware and the overall experience. But wtf is this? It used to work flawlessly, and the functionality has been reduced in recent years. Thoughts?

Forbes and its writers are utterly pathetic and entirely shameless

    Posted: 19 Feb 2019 01:55 AM PST

This tech "journalist" wrote an article about Apple and an article about Samsung that is shameless in its hypocrisy. Even though both of these products are still unreleased, Samsung's is cutting edge technology that's leading innovation; meanwhile Apple is floundering in decadence and pointlessness. Yet the same author is talking about the same feature.

I wish messages in the Cloud would stop deleting my recent pictures and attachments so quickly.

For example. I sent two photos to someone yesterday. Today. I get an option "tap to download" on them both even though I have over 10gb free.

Why is the media player different on iPhone and iPad?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 11:21 AM PST

I can't wrap my head around why the media player(QuickTime ) in Safari, or rather QuickTime is only used on the iPhone. I'm currently on iOS 12.1.4 on both devices, images of the problem can be seen below. Is this a bug or a "feature"? media_player_on_ios

Apple maps update affect apps that were dependent on other map applications...

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 12:00 PM PST

A few applications that our organization uses for various reasons were set to Waze as a default within those apps. As of this morning, we are constantly getting a prompt to restore apple maps and do not have any other choice but to us A maps... this is a huge issue for our organization due to the dependency we have on Waze > Apple maps.

    Has anyone else experienced this?!

REVIEW. 3rd pair of "Beats X" within a year!

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 10:00 PM PST

    https://imgur.com/gallery/p6mmPXo

Thankfully they still covered by guarantee, Beats X don't last at all, another couple friends have gone trough the same, for $99 I'd expect them to hold well but they don't. They don't really make them like they used to, I was traveling abroad when for the 2nd time the right piece went mute, it was extremely annoying!

Don't get me wrong I love the product, it's noise cancelling, the 5 min charge for 2 hrs of power, the sound fidelity is 🔥 but it's time for me to start to look for another alternative, another friend his left piece went mute within 2 months after buying them.

What I really can't stand is the fact that I know it will be difficult to find another beautifully yet simple design such as Beats X has. I don't like big headphones neither the new AirPods. I never even used the Beats X to excersise or under the rain. Bummer.

Is there an app or iOS feature that supports flash cards with Siri?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 06:00 PM PST

If I'm asking the wrong subreddit then I apologize and I'll delete this here. What I'm trying to find, if it exists, is a way to have an app or Siri ask me a question from a flash card and allow me to verbally give the answer. I know flashcard apps exist, but I haven't found any like this, or seen any kind of feature in iOS that would give Siri this functionality. I only ask because I'm trying to find a hands free way of going through flash cards to study for a state trade licensing exam while I work. Thank you in advance to anyone that has any knowledge to share!

Siri catching the last words of audio output when triggered

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 11:14 PM PST

I'm just wondering if I have some sort of setting wrong or if this is a common problem... whenever I trigger Siri via the home button, it catches the last few words of whatever I'm playing on the phone speaker and thus misunderstands me. Is that a common problem? Is there a way to fix it?
