Good First Laptop for Video Editing? Posted: 02 Feb 2019 04:23 PM PST I've always had a PC but I was considering getting some model of MacBook for video editing and for school. The most intensive thing I'd probably be doing on it would be After Effects or VectorWorks. I really have no idea where to start in choosing/finding one, I was hoping for something that wouldn't break the bank and even the refurbished laptops sold directly by Apple are somewhat pricey. Any suggestions about what year/model of laptop I may want to look for? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Feb 2019 02:10 PM PST Hi all, I recently dented and broke the LCD screen to my early 2015 13' Retina Display Macbook Pro. The dealership has quoted me 1500$ for a fix, with second opinions giving me the same bad news. The computer is still fully functional. I'm curious if anyone knows of a creative fix to such a problem? Is there such a thing as a portable display monitor that I might strap to the body? Or am I best off simply getting a new computer with such a high price tag? thanks! [link] [comments]
Is there anyway to check if Macbook Pro charger is associated to laptop Posted: 02 Feb 2019 07:23 PM PST Hello everyone, Unfortunately someone switched out my macbook pro 2015 retina charger out for their broken one. I have no definite proof but I know the charger I got is not mine. I do see a serial number on the charger. But is there anyway to associate the charger to the one that came with your laptop? Posted: 02 Feb 2019 03:49 PM PST I am looking for my first Mac. So please help me out. What should I know about owning a MacBook? Why are Macbooks seemly underpowered when compared to other premium computers? [link] [comments]
Is the MacBookPro 13 with touchbar a future proof purchase considering the known keyboard issues? Posted: 02 Feb 2019 09:14 AM PST I'm about to buy a new Macbook Pro 2018 13 but I'm just not sure whether I can afford it, considering the vulnerability of the keyboard and the danger of it breaking in the first few years. I've read a lot about this problem and either Apple still has a LOT of issues or a loud minority is overshadowing all the working keyboards. What are your experiences? [link] [comments]
Is it normal for a Macbook to move a little inside the box? Posted: 02 Feb 2019 02:50 PM PST I just bought a Macbook from John Lewis and when I moved it I heard a small clunk. Is there a small gap in the box or should the laptop not move at all? Am I just being paranoid? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Feb 2019 07:16 AM PST For some reason, lately my hands sweat a lot.. I use a MacBook Air the 2015 model, and I often find myself typing with sweaty hands which makes me worried of sweat getting underneath the keys of the keyboard and damaging the internals, same thing with the trackpad lining. Also by sweat I mean my fingers being 'humid' , not exactly that I am dripping sweat if you know what I mean. Should I be worried? [link] [comments]
What are some good external disks? (+2TB) Posted: 02 Feb 2019 02:22 AM PST Looking for a fast, secure and reliable hard disk. At least 2TB, up to 8TB. I will use it with my MBP 2015. I want the option of using this disk with a Windows machine but it's not that important. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance [link] [comments]
I’m thinking of buying an external gpu for my MacBook Air and I’ve gotten confused. Posted: 02 Feb 2019 09:39 AM PST I'm looking for a Egpu with lightning 3 for my 2017 MacBook Air and what confuses me is why are egpu's so expensive? And also do egpu's need graphics cards? And if you know any cheap egpu's could you list them in the comments? [link] [comments]
New macbook air (2018) overheating from video chat and browser games Posted: 02 Feb 2019 03:36 AM PST Hey! I bought a new Macbook Air through my job, it's the new one with the retina screen. However, it's overheating and the fan is sounding really loud when I run Teams video meetings and browser game (https://www.catanuniverse.com/). Should it not be able to run this? I read Android phones can handle the Catan browser game, and my iPhone can handle Teams meetings. Is there something wrong with my new mac? I seem to recall my old macbook air (2015) running Teams meetings no issue. [link] [comments]

Cannot get a 2015 MacBook Air 13" to charge it's battery for the life of me. Posted: 02 Feb 2019 08:03 AM PST So, I recently won a 2015 MacBook Air 13", i7/8G/512G from a local auction for $80. Bought a charger, turned it on and everything seemed to be fine, then I noticed the battery wouldn't charge. So, PRAM and SMC reset it was, but nothing changed. Opened it up, spotted a bit of corrosion on the I/O board, which was in line with someone saying on an old forum post that the first thing they'd do is replace that. So I ordered one of eBay, replaced it, but same result. Battery stuck at 0% not charging. (I SMC & PRAM reset multiple times again). The battery only has 211 cycles, and I was wondering if liquid might've gotten to the battery, but I removed the battery and looked all around it, there weren't any water spots anywhere around it. So given that I can see the number of cycles, and the battery voltage (2980mv) I know it's seeing the battery, but it just refuses to charge. Any tips? Think something on the logic board got shorted/fried? [link] [comments]
Using ScreenResX to fit the OS into a section of my screen Posted: 02 Feb 2019 06:21 AM PST Hello, A large portion of my screen is unusable, and I am having trouble using ScreenResX (Got the paid version) to move the active part of my screen to fit this. I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015). I will attach an image of the broken section of the screen. Any help with setting up ScreenResX to fit into this unbroken area? Thanks in advance. Pages app rainbow wheel of death. How do I recover document? Posted: 02 Feb 2019 05:11 AM PST So I clicked save on my Pages document and it went straight to the rainbow wheel of death. I need to recover this document. I still have it open but it is unresponsive. How do I recover any unsaved changes or better yet unfreeze the app. Thank you in advance! [link] [comments]
Need help choosing which mac to buy. Posted: 02 Feb 2019 03:16 AM PST Guys I am using my almost 7 years old Macbook Air mid 2012 and even though I am still OK with it I am looking for a replacement (mainly because I want 16GB RAM to run parallels desktop smoothly). Not really willing to pay more then approx 2000E incl VAT (yeah I live in EU) so my choices are not that great.... However when looking at requirements: 16GB RAM, at least 256 but better 512GB SSD, retina display 13' I have got to the following options:
Which one would you choose and why? All options are very close to each other price wise. TY [link] [comments]
Macbook magically cured itself?? Posted: 02 Feb 2019 02:41 AM PST My 2014 MacBook Pro's screen broke about two years ago. It went black and would never turn on, though by connecting to an external screen, I could see the rest was fine. I got a new Macbook, as the screen would have cost €500 to fix (according to a certified repair store that was not Apple itself) and put the old one on a shelf with the intention of eventually selling it as a broken MacBook. I never did that, and today I went to grab some music off it and the screen had magically repaired itself. I am typing on the old MacBook now, and it is working perfectly! I now have two fully functional MacBooks. How can this happen? [link] [comments] |
