Previously I had always adjusted the settings manually based on suggestions from web sites. This was so much easier with phenomenal results. I feel like I have new TV's in the house!! | Home Sharing screen saver not working Posted: 04 May 2021 12:45 AM PDT I'm struggling to get home sharing to work from my Mac to the Apple TV. I've enabled 'media sharing' on my Mac, and signed into the ATV with the same ID. Also tried restarting everything including my router. Any ideas? Maybe worth mentioning that the photos I've selected to share are on a NAS and not local. Can't imagine that would make a difference though. [link] [comments]  | ||

Night Shift technology blocks blue hues to minimally impact sleep quality. MacOS and iOS already support this feature. Do you believe that tvOS should support this feature? | Original 4kTV can’t keep HDMI pass-through connection after TVOS 14.5 update Posted: 03 May 2021 05:47 PM PDT Opening a support case too but figured I'd post here to share. Since I bought the first Apple TV 4K it's beed connected through am Onkyo TX-RZ810 to a Samsung KS8000 and have never had an issue with any content. Since it updated a few days ago the hdmi connection has been constantly re-negotiating, connecting, disconnecting, just been completely unreliable an unstable. I've switched ports and cables on the receiver, reset video settings, rechecked hdmi, nothing keeps it connected for more than a few minutes. The TV behaves as if it's switching to HDR content over and over. CEC is off btw. If I connect directly to the TV it works, but not in the pass through. I've also got an xbox series x connected the same way and it plays everything fine, 4k60 HDR games, Blueray disks, 1080p SDR stuff, no problems at all. Can't think of it being anything but a software issues introduced with the update at this point. [link] [comments]  | ||
| Posted: 03 May 2021 05:44 PM PDT So I woke up this morning to my TV being significantly darker with a slight yellow tint. So I figured it had something to do with the color balance. I ran the calibration twice and it's still dark. For anyone who has the spectrum app, my TV guide use to be blue. And now it's practically black. Most cartoons Family Guy American guy seem to be watchable but regular TV is just too dark!!! Am I the only one who had this issue?? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Posted: 03 May 2021 11:17 AM PDT Hi, I'm in the market for a new tv and I have been looking at 2 in particular. The Samsung Q80T and the Sony XH900. I know Samsung does not have Dolby vision which is something I do want for the Apple TV 4K. Both have 4K 120FPS for gaming. Both have decent peak brightness - although the Samsung is much higher, and both are full array backlight led lcd displays. (What Samsung call QLED) I wanted to know what everyone thinks of these TVs if they have any experience of them or if you recommend something else entirely? | Controller for Apple TV - PS4 vs Xbox vs MFI questions Posted: 03 May 2021 02:31 PM PDT I've had 2 MFI controllers for my Apple TV and both have had problems. The Horipad Ultimate had really bad drift issues and now my Steel Series Nimbus thumbstick is having problems. The left stick gets stuck when pushed up. I opened it up and a plastic piece fell out - I clicked it back in but it quickly fell apart again. So what are better alternatives? Neither were cheap, but would a PS4/PS5 or Xbox controller be more durable? I don't even play that many games, so the fact that they have failed after just a year or two of infrequent use is disappointing. Are there any downsides to buying a PS4/PS5 or Xbox controller to use only with the Apple TV? For example can tvOS show the battery level? Lastly, would an off brand PS4 controller work? TIA! My wife hates the older Apple TV remote with the trackpad, so I was wondering if I got the new Apple TV could I just switch the remotes? I was hoping that with the new generation coming out that the previous 4K model would go down a bit. They are still selling for $179 at all retailers.. is it common for the price to drop after a new release? If it stays then there really isn't any reason not to buy the new one.
