Cannot empty trash because "VoiceTrigger" is in use Posted: 11 Jan 2019 12:18 AM PST Can anyone help me empty my trash? I keep getting the same error no matter what I do: "The operation can't be completed because the item "VoiceTrigger" is in use." I disabled Siri, I disabled dictation, to no avail. I even tried the right-click, "Delete Immediately..." option, and it still didn't work. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]

One side of my keyboard is no longer working, help! Posted: 10 Jan 2019 09:07 PM PST As the title says, the right side of my keyboard is suddenly not working; the area with the "i" "o" and "p" keys is unresponsive, as well as several keys surrounding it. I'm typing this using an external USB keyboard. I can't seem to pinpoint exactly what the cause is, as this just suddenly happened out of the blue. The function keys around it seem to be okay, so far. This only happens when I'm booted into the OS and when I'm logging in the keys seem to be fine (my password contains the letters "i" and "p"). This leads me to believe that something is messing up the keymapping somehow. Here is my system information: Mac OS Mojave 10.14.2 MacBook Pro 15" (Retina, Mid 2012) Is there any way I can figure out what is the cause of this problem, an app maybe that can figure out what is messing it up? If not, is there a way to reset whatever is controlling the keyboard? I've already done an SMC reset as well as a VRAM and PRAM reset. My right side USB port also works on and off. Sometimes it will work--I usually have a USB 2.0 powered hub on there to attach 2 hard drives as well as a mouse, and now keyboard, for workflow purposes. It always works with any of my USB 3.0 external hard drives. I really don't want to have to reinstall Mac OS Mojave, so I'd like that to be my very last option... Edit: adding the findings of my right side USB port. Also added system information [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Jan 2019 03:35 PM PST Hey folks, Just a question, i got a 55" full hd screen in the living room, i got two options in order to watch stuff, either i plug my macbook with hdmi , and i play all the 1080p/4k stuff i download etc, or i use ps4 if i wanna watch something from netflix /twitch/youtube. My question here is , does it worth it to setup a plex media server in my macbook and use plex in my ps4 to play them? Do i lose any quality for example in a full bluray 25-40gb mkv file? My internet is fiber so i doubt i will have problems. Cheers [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Jan 2019 05:32 PM PST Hey guys, I have a question that is consuming my brain and all my ideas on the past few days. I wanna make a backup of my Parallels VM but it is 40gb and I don't want to store it in a cloud server such as Google Drive. I just want to use my external HD to backup this VM without having to format/reset the HD to a format that only Mac accepts. There's any software that makes my MacOs write on any type of disk? Such as flash drives or external HDs? I'm really waiting for an answer. Thank you guys and good night [link] [comments]
How to format with no monitor? Posted: 10 Jan 2019 02:17 PM PST Sound stupid, but I am, I formatted my mac mini 2012, and as soon as I use a 21/9 monitor I installed switchresx, I'm used to do that, but I might have massed up some configuration and now the monitor won't show up and I can't see what I'm doing. The plan is to format it again I have no idea how to fix this but I can't format because I can't see what I'm doing. Does somebody has a miracle for me? [link] [comments]
SSD for macOS and secondary internal HDD as file storage Posted: 10 Jan 2019 01:29 PM PST I have macOS Mojave on my 15" 2012 unibody MacBook Pro. I removed the Superdrive and put a 512 Gb SSD instead of it. I kept the original HDD in place. MacOS is on the SSD and I partitioned the HDD approx 200 Gb for file storage (exFAT) and approx 533 Gb as Time Machine (Mac OS Extended Journaled). I want to use this 200 Gb partition as file storage for downloads, documents, etc to free up some space from the SSD with macOS on it. How can I configure the system that it knows to use this partition as downloads, documents, etc, how to move things there, etc? What should and shouldn't I put there? Thanks everyone for helpful tips, you can suggest third party apps, terminal commands, own experience, tutorials, youtube videos, other links, whatsoever. [link] [comments]
Best Network Music Player for streaming music from a NAS Posted: 10 Jan 2019 02:47 AM PST Hi, I am currently looking for a good network music player to stream music from my NAS device (QNAP). My usual approach is to shuffle through my complete collection of currently 9000+ FLAC files (let's call this „global shuffle"). I like to do this without having to create playlists first (just natively by selecting / importing the corresponding folder from my network / NAS device). I am using a MB Air 2018 with Mojave (relatively new to it). Currently I am testing the following applications:
So, my impression is that I haven't found yet the best network music player. Therefore I'd appreciate your recommendations. TL;DR: I am looking for a good music player with superior sound, FLAC support that is usable for streaming from a NAS and shuffling through my complete collection without having to import it each time I want to use it. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Any way to make notifications in the Dock more obvious, like have the app icon bounce or get larger? Posted: 10 Jan 2019 10:16 AM PST
Posted: 10 Jan 2019 06:45 AM PST Hi guys, I already know how to change the icon of a folder (as detailed here). However, I'd like to embed an icon in the blue folder, not replace it totally. For instance, in the home folder, original subfolders such as "Downloads", "Documents", "Music", etc. have the corresponding icon like engraved on top of the blue folder. Does anyone happen to know how to do it for custom folders (Code, Research papers, etc.)? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Time Machine says it will delete oldest backups, but it fact it doesn't? Posted: 10 Jan 2019 09:52 AM PST So I google and find only solutions where the user needs to delete old fodlers manually.

Random "bluetooth not available" issue Posted: 10 Jan 2019 03:26 AM PST For the past month, I have been experiencing some extremely frustrating bluetooth issues, where both my Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse, completely disconnect and the bluetooth with the zigzag line appears. When it happens, 50% of the time, it will magically reconnect after about 10 minutes, the rest of the time, requires a restart. Tried the various solutions posted across the internet but it doesn't really solve the issue:
None of the logs show anything :( This is on an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017) and batteries on both keyboard (this happens even if plugged in via USB) and mouse are full. Before I end up reinstalling everything (it is a work machine) or take it to the geniarse bar, any thoughts? [link] [comments] |
