Installing Windows 10 (Oct 2018) using BootCamp under MacOS Mojave - will it work properly? Posted: 06 Oct 2018 10:24 AM PDT I want to install the latest version of Windows 10 (October 2018) under MacOS Mojave using BootCamp. I wonder if this will work properly or if I should wait. Does anybody have experience with that? Thanks EDIT: I'm using an iMac (2017). [link] [comments] |
Are there NO adblockers for youtube and SAFARI 12/Mojave 10.14? Posted: 06 Oct 2018 05:45 PM PDT I have not seen a single content blocker that works for youtube on SAFARI 12/Mojave 10.14. Please tell me I'm wrong... I've tried:
...and NONE of them work. [link] [comments] |
Best Practices for a Decade Old iMac Posted: 06 Oct 2018 08:22 PM PDT Hey Reddit, I own a mid 2010, 27 inch iMac. I currently use it as a spare desktop for mostly browsing but it is totally disconnected from my main computer workspace - a 2018 Macbook Pro. I got the desktop up and running on OS HighSierra but I am concerned it might not handle the latest update, or will die on me for some other reason. I am a digital artist and designer and I wanted to use it as a monitor, but I need a thunderbolt cable. I will list the specs at the end of this post, but I don't think the iMac has enough power to run Adobe programs (let alone autodesk) itself. It is so old Apple doesn't sell replacement parts for it however it is a beautiful screen and I would like to use it as long as I can. What is the best way to keep this computer running for as long as possible? Thank you so much for your help! How to enable debug menu in Safari in macOS Mojave Posted: 07 Oct 2018 01:23 AM PDT The terminal command doesn't work on my end anymore. Has anyone a solution to this? [link] [comments] |
Anyone having trouble with ANSII color escape sequences in Terminal in Mohave? Posted: 06 Oct 2018 01:29 PM PDT After upgrading my iMac Pro to Mohave, I had to reset my command prompt because the upgrade deleted my previous settings. I use the "Home-brew" terminal theme but I update my command prompt like so: export PS1="\n\e[0;97m\W \$\e[0;32m " When I do this everything looks fine until I use the up arrow to go into command history, I'm getting some strange text clipping. Let me break down what these codes do: \n - print a new line character before printing the prompt - adds a blank line after what ever command you ran. \e[0;97m - set the foreground color to white. \W - just print the name of the parent directory, not the entire path. \$ - print the $ sign for normal user mode or # if I'm in root. \e[0;32m - set the color back to green I've been doing this forever in my bash shells because when you're scrolling the output window up, it's real easy to see where the last command ended. It worked fine in High Sierra. Thanks in advance for your input. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Oct 2018 01:27 PM PDT I have not been able to find this exact issue anywhere else and it's driving me crazy. Anytime a video plays in the Safari browser, my entire system freezes for approximately 1 second, every 2-3 seconds. This continues even if I switch tabs, minimize browser, change apps, etc., until I close the Safari tab containing the video. All graphic functions freeze, but audio in the video plays without any glitches. This only happens where there is embedded video in a feed, such as blogs, news sites, and social media (particularly Twitter and Facebook). GIFs are not a problem, only video files. Sites such as Netflix and YouTube play without issue. This is only true in Safari; Chrome and Firefox both do not experience this issue. I just upgraded to Mojave in hopes this would fix the problem, but no such luck. Apple Care is completely stumped. I'm running Safari 12.0 with the following pecs:

I'm completely out of ideas and extremely grateful for any suggestions offered. [link] [comments] |
Change lockscreen wallpaper macOS Mojave Posted: 06 Oct 2018 02:53 PM PDT If i set a picture as wallpaper it will just change the normal wallpaper. But why isnt the lockscreen also changing. I will still see the desert wallpaper. How to fix this? Thanks :D [link] [comments] |
Multiple speaker output on macOS Mojave Posted: 06 Oct 2018 11:17 AM PDT I have two different speakers and I would like to route my audio to both speakers. I've tried using the audio MIDI's multi-output device and its aggregate device. These work, but they don't let me adjust the volume of the output. Prior to Mojave, I used Soundflower to fix this. I would use the 2ch and assigned both speakers to Soundflower. I'd then select "Soundflower (2ch)" as my output device and it would allow me to adjust the volume. However, this stopped working on Mojave for some reason. Is there any software that makes this easy to do? I only need to route audio, no input or anything. [link] [comments] |
Getting macOS Mojave’s on a mid 2011 iMac Posted: 06 Oct 2018 02:05 PM PDT Hi, I have seen a comment on YouTube which says that if you download OS X Mountain Lion, you can then upgrade straight to Mojave. Is this true and if not, is there another way to get Mojave on a mid 2011 iMac officially without using patchers? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
is macos mojave 10.14 the latest? or is that a beta? Posted: 06 Oct 2018 09:39 AM PDT i tried to get off the beta profile and i think i did but i want to make sure that's a normal update right? [link] [comments] |
Script Editor not allowed to send keystrokes? Posted: 06 Oct 2018 08:06 AM PDT I used to use this little spam script to mess with my friends, but after updating to Mojave, it doesn't seems to work. It say "Script Editor is not allowed to send keystrokes" Did Apple change something in Script Editor from Majove? [link] [comments] |
Downgrade back to macOS High Sierra Posted: 06 Oct 2018 10:10 AM PDT Yesterday i decided to upgrade to Mojave without checking reviews from it. I noticed that it is very slow and i have alot of files that i work in examples GarageBand. I called apple support and they said to go to recovery mode and that it wouldn't delete a thing but others say otherwise I haven't worked or done anything while on this new update so i wanted to know is there any way i can go back to high sierra without deleting my downloads and keeping everything how it is [link] [comments] |
HDMI output with Mojave not retaining audio Posted: 06 Oct 2018 09:32 AM PDT 2018 MBP, 15" running Mojave. When I plug in HDMI, audio switches to the tv as I expect it to. But, when I close the lid, the audio switches to come out of the laptop again. Picture stays on the TV as normal. Weirdest part is that the system thinks the audio is still coming from the TV (Option-click on audio still has the TV checked, and changing to internal and back doesn't fix). [link] [comments] |
Mojave not privacy settings blocking all Mic input, and not prompting to 'allow access' on any app. Posted: 06 Oct 2018 08:54 AM PDT I am unable to add mic access to any app on MacOS Mojave, as the apps are not 'requesting' access, and I am not receiving the prompt to add permissions. I cannot do without the audio input on logic, and need to get back up and running, so I would be grateful if someone had a fix for this! Is there a way to manually cause an app to request permissions? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Oct 2018 03:55 AM PDT Hi everybody, I recently had to access some of my old Notes from my Time Machine backup, but that backup was made before I reinstalled the OS and I could not use it appropriately (could not Enter Time Machine) so I had to manually access the group.com.apple.notes folder and replace my current one to check the old Notes (of course I copied the current one prior to that). So I successfully accessed the old Notes, but the thing is that when I put my current Notes folder back into library the Notes app appears as empty (aside from one empty note). When I put my old notes back it shows them again, but as soon as I put my current folder back it is blank again. I have searched the internet for a solution and it only suggests to try to add the HTML tag to the files inside the Notes folder to try to get the contained text, but it only shows me the cryptic symbols. What also feels strange is that the folder is about 3mb, while my old notes folder is a lot smaller in size, so I think the info is still there, it is just the Notes app that can not access it for some reason. Can somebody tell me if there is any other method to retrieve those notes? I realise I am a dumbass for trying to check older notes like that, but still would be grateful to regain my old info. And no, I do not use Notes with iCloud, so this is not an option. P.S. The folder I am talking about is user/library/group containers/group.com.apple.notes [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Oct 2018 02:43 AM PDT Such peculiar behaviour in Mojave, the current playing song doesn't show in the Now playing widget and the media keys can't control the song. [link] [comments] |
