IF you own an IPHONE X, what's your battery health now?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2018 03:28 AM PDT

    Mine is at 87%.

It's under Settings > Battery > Battery Health.

My XS is DEFINITELY having issues with LTE and WiFi... Feeds randomly fail to load, I randomly get no service, and I have to restart my phone at least 4 times a day to fix it.

    Posted: 10 Oct 2018 06:14 PM PDT

How is battery “maximum capacity” looking for you guys with the 8+?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2018 10:05 AM PDT

I bought my 8+ in February this year and my maximum capacity is showing as 89%. 11% seems like a pretty rapid decline for only 8 months.. I don't really use my phone all that often either. :(

    Safari vs chrome

How many people choose chrome over safari and why, thinking about switching but wanted to see what others used more and maybe what would make chrome better

PSA: Iphone XS line appears to suffer from weak LTE reception due to hardware inadequacy.

    Posted: 10 Oct 2018 12:50 PM PDT

I don't see much information about this problem here in the sub, so I'll share some.

There is likely a hardware issue with the Iphone XS line that causes weak LTE reception. Lab test measurements pulled from FCC filings showed poor reception capabilities.

Blog posts detailing the issues below:

    https://www.wiwavelength.com/2018/09/iphone-xs-and-xs-max-mostly-fail-to.html

    https://www.wiwavelength.com/2018/09/antennagate-reduxs-if-so-what-can-apple.html?m=1

(Should Apple) increase antenna gain via a hardware manufacturing revision? (recall existing devices)

Increased antenna gain would (improve reception) -- with or without increased conducted power. Additionally, as long as the same antenna arrays are used for both uplink transmission and downlink reception, improved antenna gain can assist in received signal strength, too.

This sounds like the ideal solution. And, quite frankly, it is. But for even more obvious reasons, Apple would be highly unlikely to go this modified hardware route. This would be the nuclear option, so to speak, that would require some redesign and retooling of yet to be manufactured iPhone XS and XS Max units as well as possible replacement of extant phones for any dissatisfied users. Instead, any antenna design changes probably will be saved for next year's iPhone generation.

So, what can iPhone XS and XS Max users do right now?

The new iPhones undoubtedly show some measured RF shortcomings compared to their predecessors and other comparable handsets. However, the jury very much is still out on how much and how often this will affect typical use cases. (Hint: look at the complaints; it does often negatively affect typical use cases)

In the interest of investigation, many users already have jumped to comparing signal bars, though doing so is not very useful, since signal bars are just a coarse approximation of signal availability/quality and can be calibrated to almost any arbitrary standard.

Comparing speed tests also is not very useful for gauging weak signal performance. Unless a speed test fails or produces very slow speeds due to exceedingly marginal signal conditions, devices with 4x4 MIMO reception -- such as iPhone XS and XS Max -- likely will exhibit higher download speed test results under most good to normal signal conditions.

As soon as I get used to something one way, they change it on me...

    Posted: 11 Oct 2018 09:13 AM PDT

The two biggest examples that are frustrating atm are...

    1. Sending a photo from library in a text. I keep opening the damn camera and then flipping the camera around. I don't want to see me that much!

    2. Flipping the camera around (or even taking screen shots) on FaceTime. having to pull up the little menu to flip the camera around blocks the window view which makes me uncertain if I even flipped it or not. It takes so much longer than it used to (but I'm sure you're all aware of that now)

iPhone XS Max slow Wi-Fi speeds

    Posted: 11 Oct 2018 09:29 AM PDT

Ever since I updated my new iPhone XS Max to iOS 12.0.1, I've had major Wi-Fi connectivity issues. I'm on a 450MB internet package and I'm clocking in between 0.5mb to 30mb, regularly now. I couldn't even get this subreddit to load - I had to come off WiFi.

I've rebooted the phone and have even reset the Network Settings. Nada. My iPad is clocking in at max speeds. Anyone else having this issue?

Android boy(Pixel 2 XL) switched this year

    Posted: 10 Oct 2018 03:22 PM PDT

I am a die hard android fan and I have switched to a very pretty silver Iphone XS Max. The phone itself feels very premium and I do enjoy the cohesive experience so far(much more user friendly). I am missing some nuances of android but that was to be expected going from any phone to a different one. I also purchased an apple watch series 4 and this is what i am most impressed with. I can honestly say android watches are not anywhere near the performance levels the apple watch brings. I would switch again for this watch alone.

Just wanted to give my day 1 impressions switching over as a very big android fan!

The XS max is undeniably the best iPhone I’ve ever owned...

    Posted: 10 Oct 2018 08:38 PM PDT

I've been using the iPhone since the 4 released and have had/used every single iteration besides the 5C...the XS Max is by far the fastest, best looking, and phenomenal iPhone yet. I just got it yesterday and have been blown away.

    That is all.

[Question] iPhone Xs from China (for Dual-sim) would work every where else?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2018 08:12 AM PDT

I'm a bit confused about bands (especially after seeings Apple offering many models of iPhone Xs on their website) since each region have their own band and I was wondering; if I buy iPhone Xs from China (mainly because the physical dual sim abilities) would it work everywhere else? (I live in Europe) without having to have Chinese sim/plan inside? * * Worth noticing that last year I bought iPhone from Canada and it works fine here in Ireland!
