[PSA] All haptic feedback from Apple Watch and watchOS 5

    Posted: 23 Oct 2018 12:32 AM PDT

With the arrival of watchOS 5 I've updated my haptic feedback table.

    • t K (high pitched ding) — new iMessage, MacBook unlocking notification
    • TK (two taps on plastic) — Activity notification (standing up proposal, daily or weekly recap)
    • tktkTK (three dings, each raising in pitch) — Activity achievement
    • t k (small chime) — Breathing session proposed
    • While breathing:
    • Breathing in should be synced with haptic, no haptic when breathing out.
    • tkT (chimes) — Done breathing
    • T .. K (tapping the glass) — Reminder or calendar event is on due
    • TKTKTKTKTKTK or TKTKTKTK TKTKTKTK (high pitched bell ringing) — Incoming call
    • t K BRR (low pitched ding) — Incoming notification
    • BRRR BRRR — Silent mode enabled (by covering watch for a few seconds)
    • BRRRRR TKtktk (bell ringing lowering in volume) — Timer or alarm expired
    • T K t k t (glass ball dropping) — Battery low
    • tk tk tk — Navigation (go left)
    • t t t — Navigation (go right)
    • T BRR (wa-ping Apple pay sound) — Apple Pay used
    • BRRRRRR (sad Apple Pay sound) — Apple Pay failed, try again
    • If you need a little more haptic, you can enable it in settings. Then each feedback will be preceded by BRRR

    New stuff in watchOS 5:

    • T K T (three taps on plastic) — Workout detected or workout completion detected
    • TRRRT (computerized bell) — Walkie-talkie message received (first notification)
    • T K (computerized da-ding) — Walkie-talkie message received (further notifications)
    • t — Spinning the digital crown one step (on Apple Watch 4)

Please correct me if I'm wrong or missed something!

Way to make certain workouts NOT share?

    Posted: 22 Oct 2018 07:57 AM PDT

When my wife and I smash, I like to set a workout because it more accurately gives credit for the exercise I'm doing, and honestly it's a fun thing to track. Problem is, I'd rather not shoot an "Other - Wrestling" workout notification to my mom and sisters at 11pm.

Is there any way to prevent a specific workout from sharing with anyone? All I know that you can do is hide all activity from individuals, and it'd be obnoxious to click hide on each and every individual's page, then go back and unhide them all.

    Pocket Casts WatchOS 5 update?

    Posted: 23 Oct 2018 03:02 AM PDT

Apologies if this has been mentioned before, though I couldn't see anything on the sub. Is there any news on a WatchOS 5 update for Pocket Casts? Temporarily switched over to Apple podcasts for watch compatibility, but it is a terrible app compared to Pocket Casts. Would be great to be able to switch back again! Thanks.

Control volume when listening on Spotify?

    Posted: 23 Oct 2018 08:19 AM PDT

I'm listening to Spotify on my phone and I know the Apple Watch isn't integrated with Spotify yet but is there not a way where I can adjust the volume of my headphones on my watch or my watch realizes I'm listening to something?

Question about Apple Music on Watch

    Posted: 23 Oct 2018 08:14 AM PDT

I've tried googling but no one seems to have an answer or are also looking for answers. Is there a way to filter downloaded music on the watch? I sync a few playlists to my watch but sometimes I just want to play all the downloaded offline music on the watch.

I could hit shuffle all but it doesn't work well because usually pauses really Long trying to stream a track when it can't cuz it's not online and then display the "go online to listen" screen.

Similar to the iPhone where there's a downloaded music section that just filters and shows offline tracks. Is there a similar option for the watch?

Is there a way to turn off automatic sleep detection in AutoSleep?

    Posted: 23 Oct 2018 08:05 AM PDT

    Hi guys,

I've been using this app for a couple of days with the "lights off" feature, therefore auto detection is worthless for me. I would like to turn it off but it seems I can't figure out how. Is there a way to do it?

I'm using lights off because I'm laying in bed before actually sleeping with my watch and phone on charge, and then AutoSleep kicks in thinking I'm sleeping. Also, I want to track how long it takes me to fall asleep so "lights off" feature if really handy for me while auto detection isn't really :D.

    Thanks!

Do any Ouluoqi link band owners have a series 4?

    Posted: 23 Oct 2018 08:03 AM PDT

I've been interested in the Ouluoqi link band but having just upgraded from S0 to S4 and seeing how some bands don't fit completely properly. Or are hard to take off.

Does anyone have a Ouluoqi link band and a S4? How is it? Does it fit fine? Easy to remove? Any other problems?

How does the apple watch measure resting heart rate?

    Posted: 23 Oct 2018 07:51 AM PDT

Just got the Series 2 (Got it for a nice bargain) and I can't quite figure out how it will measure my resting/walking heart rate. I get the "current heart rate", it just scans when you tell it to, but how will it work out my resting/walking, does it scan periodically throughout the day? Furthermore, will the any heart rate appear on the widget on the home screen, or is purely a button to access the app? Thanks in advance, I'm a massive smart watch noob.

Any way to remove people from memories in Siri Face?

    Posted: 23 Oct 2018 04:30 AM PDT

Using the Siri Face option, and generally loving all the information. However, nearly daily I get photo memories, mostly of my ex-wife. We have thousands of pictures together which I don't want to delete, however, I really don't need to see her face daily. Is there a way to remove someone from being included in Memories?

Which complications do you use with infograph face?

    Posted: 22 Oct 2018 08:10 PM PDT

As the title says, I would like to know which complications are you guys using.

Reason? Well, I'm a new user, and would like to see how other guys have personalized their infograph face.

    Here's mine: https://imgur.com/a/F4lo97i

Personally, I like statistics and that's why I'm using infograph.

I wish I could set it more to my liking but there are some limitations in Carrot5 app (read: Apple) so basically, I am using both stock weather app (wind + UV) and carrot 5 (humidity and temp) to display information.

If anyone is bored enough, send a screenshot!

    Apple watch 4 shutdown

    Posted: 23 Oct 2018 02:38 AM PDT

When I received my watch on day one I used for a few hours then charged over night .when I woke up the display was red and never charged I pick it up and it was super hot. I put it in the fridge to cool quickly . The only way to start was forced restart with the to buttons holding down for a few seconds My watch 4 keeps shutting down even if charged up 80%. The only way to restart is to force restart. Anyone else having this issue?

Complication that randomly displays reminders or to-do list items?

    Posted: 22 Oct 2018 07:34 PM PDT

I want my watch to show a different to-do list item every time I raise my wrist. I don't have time to schedule all my to-do list items, and anyway, that's not how I work. Not every task has a definite deadline anyway, and even if it did, the way Apple's reminders complication for the Watch works is to show only the up-next reminder until its scheduled time, and then replace it with either the next up-coming item or the words "no reminders." This isn't helpful.

Anyone have a good RSS reader for the watch?

    Posted: 23 Oct 2018 04:52 AM PDT

I just bought "RSS on Watch", but it won't work ie. the app doesn't appear on the watch. I think it's no longer supported. Anyone with a better app?

Apple Watch 4 Space Grey Aluminum Scratches

    Posted: 23 Oct 2018 01:03 AM PDT

Hello, i'm planning to buy an Apple Watch Series 4 Aluminium, but I'm unsure if i shall buy it in Space Grey or in Silver. Does somebody know if, when the body of the Space Grey version gets scratches, you can see silver trough? Because I had that problem with my old phone. I would be glad, if anybody could help me. Which one would you suggest? Silver or Space Grey?

Torch on AW3 - First Real Use case.

    Posted: 22 Oct 2018 04:14 PM PDT

TIL That the torch on the Apple Watch dims when you twist your wrist towards you.

TIAL How bright the torch is. I normally use my phone but, it was my phone I was looking for. It's no way as good as the phone LED, it's still bright enough for short distances though.

Best Minimalist Case for S4 40mm

    Posted: 22 Oct 2018 09:12 PM PDT

Before you say it, I know - I know. The watch looks better without a case and I don't disagree.

But you see, I'm scared. A friend gifted me his S0 that he no longer wanted, and after two weeks it feel from bathroom counter on to floor and cracked.

That being said, I'm now afraid of durability issue (even though I've purchased insurance). So, are there any companies that you've had success with for a case?

Spiegen (sp?) looked promising, but don't have a case out for the 4 yet. Any other ideas?
