    macOS FileVault?

    macOS FileVault?

    FileVault?

    Posted: 06 May 2018 09:18 PM PDT

I'm a first-time Mac user (MBA '17) and during setup of my new laptop it asked me if I wanted to use FileVault...I automatically said yes just as you do when you accept everything during setup. However I have heard a couple bad things about it. It's still currently encrypting, should I turn it off once it's finished? (I also can't update to the newest High Sierra while it's encrypting which is annoying, but that's beside the point)

What SSD TRIM Commands to use with external SSD setup running 10.12 on Late 2013 Mac Pro?

    Posted: 06 May 2018 05:03 PM PDT

I'm running MacOS 10.12 on the Late 2013 Mac Pro and want to setup a Blackmagic Designs Multidock 2 with two Samsung 860 EVO 2TB SATA III drives. The Multidock uses Thunderbolt 2. What SSD TRIM Commands should I be running to keep the SSD's healthy? Are there any other precautions or commands I should look into before setting the drives up? This is for an audio editing setup.

OS X Capitan, how the hell do i get rid of the 'disk is full' notification because its been driving me insane forever

    Posted: 06 May 2018 11:37 PM PDT

My macbook air has 0kb of storage space left. Its literally so obnoxious, like, i fucking restart the stupid thing and it says i have 3gb left, but within 5 minutes of using the damn computer its back to 0kb. Every time i receive a text a notification pops up saying 'disk is full.' This literally makes my computer unfuckingusable if im in the middle of a conversation over text, because im closing the same fucking notification every two seconds because my computer is retarded. This has been driving me insane. Also, it says 101gb of my 120gb is taken up by 'other' and i have absolutely no idea what that is and i have no way of deleting any files to free up storage space because only 19gb of files are things i have the option to delete and they arent things i want to delete, i wanna get rid of the 'other' but i dont know what that shit even IS SO HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THAT. Should i throw my computer off a cliff, run it over, smash it over my head, or is there a solution to this? Thanks so much in advance for saving my sanity, fuck you Apple for making shitty computers.

Is deleting history in Safari now very slow for anyone else?

    Posted: 06 May 2018 11:05 AM PDT

Using newest version on High Sierra. Whenever I select a chunk of sites to delete they don't just disappear instantly like it used to. They slowly get deleted one by one. Wondering if this is happening to anyone else or if my machine is getting slow (2015 rMBP)

Migration Assistant shutdown broke External HDD

    Posted: 06 May 2018 09:55 AM PDT

Hi guys! I wonder if you can give me any clues regarding the following situation. Any help would be highly appreciated!

I had to erase all data on my internal 256GB SSD and reinstall macOS High Sierra. All went well. I did have TimeMachine backups of the situation before the reinstall. So at the step of the installation where you're given the option to recover data I plugged in my external drive and started the recovery process via Migration Assistant. It got stuck on "Starting up" for more than an hour. I read online that canceling the process might reveal that all files have already been transferred OR get the loading bar moving the second time around. So I did CMD+Q and selected "Shutdown" and unplugged the drive.

Next thing I know the drive is unreadable on PC and Mac. Tried to find the volume via Disk Utilities - nothing. It's not the cable (used 3 different ones) or the drive itself (checked it same day on a different computer, plus it has been used only very few times since bought). Could it be a software issue of some sort?
