"iPhone X will suffer because of the loss of beloved TouchID" Posted: 26 Feb 2018 10:03 AM PST I just opened up my Macbook while tapping my iPhone X screen to peep for notifications, which then unlocked without any effort. In turn that unlocked my Apple watch that I just put on, which then unlocked my Macbook. And this all happened in the span of MAYBE 5 seconds... Apple ecosystem FOR THE WIN [link] [comments] |
How long does the iPhone X Battery Last if Turned Off? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 11:20 PM PST Okay this might be a weird question, but Google has yielded me zero results. Long story short, I am joining the Marines in May and wanted to know if I turn my phone (iPhone X) off at 100% battery life, will it last the 13 weeks and be able to power on upon graduation? I'm obviously gunna want to use it immediately haha. Google says that the iPhone 5 offered 225 hours of standby time - but I imagine that means the phone is on and just not being used. Will it being off have any effect on the battery like I assume it would? Thanks in advance guys and gals, means a lot! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 27 Feb 2018 12:45 AM PST Macbook Pro late 2011 13 Inch. 500GB HDD to a Kingston 240GB SSD. Oh. My. God. It's like a new machine. If you are considering doing this, stop considering. Do it. My SSD cost £60.00 and the installation really couldn't have been any simpler. A speed example: I use FCPX a good bit for some video production. On the HDD it would take about 2 minutes (120 seconds) to open. It now opens and is ready to go in about 7 seconds, give or take. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Feb 2018 03:27 AM PST Even though services aren't "in their DNA" like hardware and software are, is it possible that Siri will be up to the level of quality that people expect of Apple? What might they need to change as a company to achieve this? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Feb 2018 04:23 AM PST I had my first get-together at my apartment since getting the HomePod with about 5-10 friends over the course of the evening. I'm the first one of my friends to get the HomePod so I was pretty excited to show it off and be able to use it for good quality sound compared to previous speakers I've had. Everyone seemed pretty impressed by the quality and ease of use (not having to shout "Alexa" to get it to recognize my voice). At first friends would just ask me to play a specific song, but once they started to realize anyone could say "Hey, Siri" it quickly got out of hand. Everyone started trying to be their own DJ, often starting a new song just seconds into someone else's choice. A few people started trying to be funny ("Hey Siri, find me a trick.") Others tried to use it politely but would fumble with exactly what to say so Siri couldn't recognize the request. This went on for a good 20-30 minutes. Eventually I went into HomeKit settings and turned off the Hey Siri toggle and comically told my friends they were all in timeout, which got a laugh and everyone chilled and went back to talking about normal stuff. If someone really wanted a request I would just add it to the queue with Play Next on my phone. I think from now on I'll be disabling Hey Siri with group parties. I'm hoping it was just the novelty of it being new and that hopefully people won't always do that. But I hate that people will lose the ability to add some of their songs to the playlist. I feel like I remember Apple saying Apple Music would get a collaboration feature where people could queue up songs but haven't heard any updates on that. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Feb 2018 07:51 AM PST I swear for me it's always and only the porn that I watch. I'm not joking and I wish I was. It's never reddit or YouTube or anything else that pops up for a split second. The window could have been closed 2-3 days ago and I see it for a split second and then it goes away. Am I being watched?? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Feb 2018 09:24 AM PST My phone is a 3 year old 16gb 6, with a cracked screen, slowed down processor, and bad battery. I finally have the chance to upgrade, and I cannot decide between the 8 and the X. I already have an iPad Pro 10.5", so I do not want the plus. Some background, I am an app developer that heavily relies on photos and use my phone all day. $300 is a large difference though. I also am not sold on FaceID. I usually unlock my phone with the fingerprint scanner as I take it out of my pocket. Don't give a crap about Animoji either. Opinions please?? [link] [comments] |
Finally got an Apple Watch, didn't realize it will unlock my other devices. Posted: 26 Feb 2018 02:21 PM PST Such a cool little feature. It's been great as my work Mac has an absurd password for security. Still looking for a database of interesting features to use on it. That and workflows app have been my favorites so far.
