Posted: 27 Jan 2018 05:07 PM PST So my late 2015 MacBook Pro sat in my backpack where my water bottle had opened and got into all the ports. As soon as I realized it I left it open, upside down for a day or two to dry. When I went to see if it was alright, it wouldn't turn on. I took it to my local Apple store yesterday and they basically told me it was a minimum $755 fix with my regular Apple care and I just don't have the money to pay for that now and need to get a cheap laptop for school in the mean time. Is there any program where I can turn in my damaged MacBook for money or anything? [link] [comments]
Quick question about 2016 13" MBP and Windows Posted: 27 Jan 2018 06:51 PM PST I am getting a 2016 base model MBP 13" (the 128GB/no touch bar model) and want to use Windows on it as well as the standard Mac OS (mostly for certain things like Microsoft office, etc.) and wanted to know if this is enough to get the basics done. Realistically I don't want to have both and not be able to effeciently run either, using Bootcamp at least since I don't really need to run both at once I wouldn't think. I'd like to think that 128GB would be enough and I believe you can still upgrade the storage so I think that might be something for down the line. Basically, I just need to know is 128GB enough for both if I'm only going to use windows for basic stuff that works better on windows (in my experience at least) and nothing complex? Or is that not enough? All answers appreciated! Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Jan 2018 05:46 PM PST So I'm in college and I'm a graphic design major and I'm looking for a new laptop, but I don't have a big budget, I can get the air for $850. And I can't really afford the pro, will the air be ok for some photoshop? [link] [comments]
Mid 2012 MacBook Pro Sleep issues Posted: 27 Jan 2018 05:14 PM PST My Mac book pro is having a problem where when booted into windows the computer will sleep and refuse to wake the screen. This has been happening more and more lately. It is obvious the computer has come our of sleep because it starts to get warm. Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Jan 2018 04:45 PM PST I'd like a mouse that mimics the three-finger swipe on a Magic Trackpad, or Alt+Tab in Windows. I'm not a fan of the Magic Mouse. Is there a third-party mouse with a programmable button that will allow this? I love being able to jump from program to program. Thanks! [link] [comments]
New 2015 13in MBP, 256GB, 16GB RAM for $1200... is this a deal? Will it last for 5 years? Posted: 27 Jan 2018 10:21 AM PST I have an offer for the machine in the title but I'm not sure if a 2015 will last that long... I'm a Thinkpad/Linux guy so I'm not really up on Macs these days. The new ones seem expensive for what you get and I keep reading that they keyboards are not reliable. I'm looking to get my daughter her first computer and hoping it will last her for the rest of 8th grade and through HS. It will be used for school work and she wants to make videos. Thanks in advance for the help. [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Jan 2018 09:32 AM PST Just received this computer yesterday. I'm entirely new to macOS so idk what I was doing. There was some sort of update so I installed that. I also changed my username (although if I type whoami in terminal, it still displays my old one) and I also disabled guest account. Yesterday, I had admin control, today I do not. My account is just "standard". I've googled a bit and found some solutions from months ago but some people say they do not work, while others say they do work so I'm too scared to try it in case I mess something up. Does anyone here know what I can do? [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Jan 2018 05:08 AM PST Hey guys, I got the new MacBook Pro with the touch bar. I got a refurbished one from Apple to cut costs however at the moment when I open the lid I am just met with a Setup User login screen which obviously I don't know the password for. I have tried command option control delete which doesn't seem to help at all. Any advice would be really appreciated as I've just dropped a fortune on the laptop and I can't even get in! Posted: 27 Jan 2018 12:37 AM PST Hi y'all Recently purchased a macbook pro and I am now looking for a Usb type-c mouse that can be used for casual gaming as well. It seems as of now there are only cheap ones available and none of the big brands (logitech, razer, ms) have put out an type-c mouse yet. Any recommendations or thoughts on this? [link] [comments] |
