[help with error]: unplug the device using to much power to re enble usb devices Posted: 25 Jan 2018 06:40 PM PST I was unable to find an answer online to this problem. Most people simply seem to have experienced it in error but in my case it is not an error. I have a wall-powered, 7 port usb hub running to my '15 macbook pro and into which are plugged 5 raspberry pi's and an LED strip. The pi's have camera modules which are all recording video simultaneously. As soon as I tell them to start recording, I get hit with this error message and the usb gets shut off. So there's a lot going on. Can someone explain how this is happening if the hub is wall powered? Do the devices in the hub still draw power from the computer? Why? How much? What is the wall power for then? Is this expected behavior for ALL hubs in a situation like this? Would a different hub not do this? Is there something I can just disable in the software to override this behavior? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Jan 2018 04:59 PM PST Hello. I have a bit of an issue. I opened my Macbook and tried to log on today just like I do every day and my password is not working. I KNOW for a fact that I have the right password. My computer just refuses to accept it for some reason. I went into the recovery mode and opened the "reset password" screen but I cannot reset it there due to my disk being encrypted. The problem is, the password used to decrypt my drive isn't being accepted either. I've searched all over the place but I can really only find information on how to get into the recovery mode. My account isn't linked to my iCloud so I can't unlock it from there either. Has anybody else had this issue or know what to do in this situation? [link] [comments] |
Question about Thunderbolt Bus Posted: 25 Jan 2018 12:04 PM PST Hi, on my MacBook Pro 15inch 2017 it has 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports but when I go to system report > thunderbolt, there I see only two Thunderbolt bus. What does this means? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
What should I do with my liquid damaged MacBook Air Posted: 25 Jan 2018 12:14 PM PST My MacBook Air (2017) wouldn't turn on or charge so I brought it to the Apple store and they said it has liquid damage. They said $750 to fix it. Not worth it for me.. I paid $850 during the back to school sale. Should I sell it on eBay as not working or try to find a 3rd party repair place. I found a good place. They said $350 for the repair. Honestly, at this point I want to make a switch to a iMac instead of MacBook. I think it would be more beneficial for me with sitting down. Getting a nice desk. I'm very sloppy with MacBooks. I bring them everywhere. Maybe it's time for a change. Any information on the iMac models would be great. Thank you. I mainly use my MacBook for iTunes / burning CDs & documents like job resumes on Microsoft word. Not too worried about losing my files on the MacBook Air because I can just download the music again and have some podcasts and word documents on a thumb drive. But I'll have to buy Microsoft word again. How much is that. Thanks for the help [link] [comments] |
Getting 144hz connected to Macbook pro 13' e2015 Posted: 25 Jan 2018 03:14 AM PST So I wanna connect my MacBook Pro 13' early 2015 to a 144hz monitor, from what I've learned I can't use the HDMI port on my MacBook because of its only HDMI 1.2. My question will then be, how can I connect it and get 144hz? Can I use a mini display port to HDMI 2.0 adapter? Does Mini display port fit into the thunderbolt outlet? [link] [comments] |
Worth Upgrading a 13" mid-2010 MacBook Pro (7,1)? Posted: 25 Jan 2018 03:11 AM PST I have a 13" mid-2010 MacBook Pro with the Intel Core 2 duo processor, 8 MB of RAM, 320 GB hard drive, still running OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. I've recently taken up programming (specifically right now, The Odin Project's front and back end web development course) and have set up a VM to run Ubuntu on my Windows 10 desktop. However, I'm not crazy about the VM/Ubuntu experiment and have read that Apple works very nicely for programming. The OEM battery status is showing "Check Battery" and has 690 cycles on it. My questions are:
I only ask because it seems like this is in pretty good condition and runs fairly quickly for a 7+ year old machine. I forgot how much I enjoyed the Apple workflow, so I'd like to keep using this machine as long as I can without putting too much additional money into it. I know it's impossible to say when something unfixable could break for good, but I'm just looking for suggestions. I greatly appreciate the help! [link] [comments] |

MBP 2015 charger light not turning on occasionally Posted: 25 Jan 2018 01:05 AM PST So I have a MBP Early 2015 Retina 13" and I recently replaced the charger (through AppleCare) because it was not quite firm when attached to the MBP. The old charger would from time to time not turn on the light while attached and thus not charge the MBP. Now with the new one, I am experiencing it again but more rarely. If I remove it and attach it again, it turns on. Did anyone else experience this? [link] [comments] |
