Display scaling on iPadOS 16 require M1 iPad Posted: 16 Jun 2022 12:54 PM PDT Pretty nice feature but its surprising that iPads before M1 aren't able to support display scaling. Doubt this is a hardware limitation or an experience that doesn't live up to Apple testing standards on pre M1 iPads Related post https://www.reddit.com/r/ipad/comments/v9jtcc/ipados_16_increased_display_scaling_for_more/ [link] [comments]

Posted: 15 Jun 2022 07:52 PM PDT I noticed today that Memphis now has cycling directions in Maps. As far as I can tell it hasn't been officially announced, but it's a very welcome (and long overdue) addition. Their rollout of this feature has been painfully slow. [link] [comments]

Posted: 14 Jun 2022 11:53 PM PDT I know that sounds logical when you think about it, but it took me and Apple support a while (three calls with experts over two weeks) to figure out why it wasn't working as expected for my family. / It probably makes sense too for countries like USA, but in Europe I can change three countries in two hour from where I live, and families can be spread across the continent. /rant [link] [comments]
Universal Control works with multiple ipads Posted: 15 Jun 2022 08:26 AM PDT I didn't realize this until I had them both sitting next to the macbook...universal control works with multiple ipads simultaneously for sharing keyboard/mouse controls. Example from my displays settings: https://imgur.com/a/vrxi3oL (ipad Air 4th gen on the right, ipad pro M1 on the left) I'm not sure there's a ton of use for it (because who has multiple ipads for use at the same time), but I thought it was worth sharing since I hadn't seen much talk about this before. Fix for using ExpressVPN with Apple Studio Display Posted: 14 Jun 2022 08:42 PM PDT Ah the Studio Display, unquestionably the weirdest piece of hardware Apple has created in years. In their finite wisdom, the display creates a network adapter to the computer it's connected to so that it can download iOS updates. Because naturally the display runs iOS on its A13 Bionic chip. Problem is, ExpressVPN sees this peer-to-peer connection in your network settings and tries to establish a VPN connection over it if it's the first adapter listed. There is no option to choose the adapter in the ExpressVPN software. Here's the fix, with screenshots below:
I think the ExpressVPN folks are aware of the issue. Let's hope it gets a better solution soon. [link] [comments]

Posted: 14 Jun 2022 06:21 PM PDT Google Drive and Dropbox integrate with the Mac Finder. Edit: For everyone not understanding what I was talking about, apologies for not being clear. i took a short screen cap recording of what I'm talking about. When integrating dropbox or google drive with the Finder, you can select either "store locally" or "store in cloud" manually instead of the OS deciding what needs to go because it's a big file or what not. https://imgur.com/a/qWKdBET [link] [comments]
