Apple TV Should I still put my Apple TV 4K on SDR when tv supports Dolby Vision? I just got an ATV and i'm reading a lot of "SDR only" posts from almost a year back. Is that still the best route vs Dolby Vision? With watching YouTube ver little, if any.

When I setup the apple tv it said dolby vision was supported and the little logo showed in the corner of the tv? If it matters, i don't really watch YouTube on my tv.... just Netflix, Hulu, Prime, Disney + type apps? I have an LG sound bar with a TCL 615

    Thanks!

Apple TV+ family sharing not working

    Posted: 05 Feb 2022 06:37 AM PST

I recently subscribed to apple tv+. I wanted to enable family sharing to share it with my 2 sisters. Now, i don't have an iOS device and had to borrow an iphone, set it up as mine and enable family sharing, made sure "tv channels>apple tv+" was turned on. I even enabled store purchases sharing but neither of them can access applet tv+ content. They only get the "try free 7 days trial". They're not using iOS devices btw, only android tv apps.

Is there something else I'm missing here?

Siri not understanding as well after latest update

    Posted: 05 Feb 2022 04:16 AM PST

After this latest update Siri doesn't seem to understand me as well. I often use "what did she say" and about half the time it just says something like " interesting question".

Has anyone else had this issue or any ideas on things to try?

Apple TV with update 15.3 is showing two dark shadows in grey backgrounds. I have just realized of that and I don’t think is it normal, isn’t? I want to know if this a bug or something that need to be set up

Samsung TV and ATV-4k, powering on to black screen on Apple TV source

    Posted: 05 Feb 2022 03:14 AM PST

When I turn on both the Apple TV and Samsung TV via the siri remote, both turn on and off just fine. However, the Samsung TV shows a black screen on the apple tv source, even though the apple tv is clearly on.

The current workaround I have found is to switch between the Samsung TV source then back to the Apple TV source, which fixes the issue. Is this a bug or is there some setting I need to fix so when both devices are turned on the apple tv outputs immediately? Has anyone dealt with a similar issue? Thank you for any help.

Why do I have to play to listen to music I already purchased?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2022 06:36 AM PST

I just purchased a 4K AppleTV and have to return it. I didn't realize that I have to purchase Apple Music to listen to music I already purchased. I have an AppleTV third generation and can listen to my music without an additional cost or having to stream it from another device. I can watch purchased movies and shows on the new AppleTV without buying an additional subscription. This doesn't make any sense.

Did I set up up the TV incorrectly? Am I doing something wrong?

Edit: I purchased music in iTunes

Anyone feel like 5.1 in Hulu is really low on the center channel?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2022 03:59 PM PST

I use Apple TV for all of my streaming, but notably when I watch anything on Hulu (including shows/movies with 5.1 support), the center channel is always way lower compared to other streaming apps/tv shows/movies. The net result is that the dialogue is always softer, just in the Hulu app.

Nothing is configured differently otherwise (my receiver sees the same bitstream/5.1 regardless of whether it's Hulu, netflix, apple tv etc).

Is this something with the way Hulu is handling audio? Does anyone else notice or have this issue?

Apple TV 4K 2021 possibly switching 2013 Sony Bravia TV into retail mode?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2022 09:11 PM PST

Hey everyone, so I recently purchased an Apple TV 4K 2021 model for my dad's home theater setup, replacing a 2020 Roku Ultra. It's connected to a Denon 2019 A/V receiver that's connected to a 2013 1080p Sony Bravia TV. So recently the TV has been randomly switching into retail mode, switching the picture mode to Vivid instead of Custom. This never happened with the Roku and has only recently started happening when I set up the ATV. I know this sounds unlikely Is it possible that the ATV is somehow switching the tv into retail mode?

How do I remove DRM from my purchased Apple TV movies?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2022 11:36 PM PST

Hello, I'm trying to remove DRM but can't find a free way to do it. Does anyone know how? I am running macOS Monterey with a Windows 11 virtual machine and I need a free solution. All I'm trying to do is stream it to my friends on Discord and watch it non-iTunes supported devices. Thanks!
