What are these weird spots on my new MBP M1 Pro 16" screen? Posted: 05 Feb 2022 08:45 AM PST Hey folks! I bought my new $4000 MBP M1 Pro three weeks ago and would consider myself someone with an OCD to keep stuff clean and tidy. Today I noticed that: There are several fingerprint spots on the screen I have never touched (For example the red bordered area). I essentially only touch the area around the webcam at the top when opening the lid, that's it. No, I have not stored the laptop in a way that would drastically push the screen on the keyboard when closed. In these three weeks I have gently wiped the surface with a microfibre cloth to just get the dust away. No scrubbing or anything. Besides the normal fingerprint looking spots there are also these blue-ish spots that I have marked with the green border. They look way more "dangerous" and kinda remind me of Staingate. The area marked with the blue border is the result of trying to remove the spot by gently scrubbing it with a microfibre cloth and a tiny amount of water. It looks like it can go away but still resulted in a more opaque "blue cloud". I'm super scared when even gently scrubbing it but it is so annoying for me that I want to remove them... Can anyone tell me what these spots are, if it is normal and what I can do to prevent this from happening? Is it just part of owning a $4000 laptop? [link] [comments] |

Trying to Factory Reset 2017 Macbook Pro - Issue at Format stage Posted: 05 Feb 2022 07:48 AM PST I'm working on doing a factory reset for my 2017 MBP following the steps outlined here: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201065 However, I'm at the Disk Utility step where it says select Macintosh HD and hit erase. For some reason, my MBP's SSD has two partitions: Macintosh HD and Macintosh HD - Data. I'm unsure of what I should actually be doing because of this. Macintosh HD shows 16GB of used space. Macintosh HD -Data shows 132GB of used space. What exactly should I be doing at this step? Which do I select to reset? [link] [comments] |
Content Restrictions aren't restricting content Posted: 05 Feb 2022 07:41 AM PST My children each have their own iPads and I have the content restrictions in ScreenTime set to PG for movies and TV-PG for television. The problem is, I occasionally check their iPad's AppleTV app and see R-rated movies we've purchased showing up (not a big deal) and fully playable (very big deal). I've switched ScreenTime on and off, reset their restrictions, restarted the iPad...nothing seems to work. The restrictions still say PG and TV-PG, but R-rated and Unrated content are still fully playable. Also, when they want to watch something we own that is PG or G, it says it's restricted, won't play, and says to go to settings. I ended up having to disable the whole AppleTV app altogether because the kids are curious to watch Halloween and the Annabelle movies. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a bug/glitch in iOS. iOS is all up to date. [link] [comments] |
How to format Macbook Pro 2015 disk at low level with Monterey? Posted: 05 Feb 2022 01:38 AM PST I have a 2015 Macbook Pro and I want to format the disk to low level, but from a USB with Monterey does not give me the option in Disk Utility. How can it be done? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Feb 2022 07:36 AM PST A couple months ago my iMac 5k 2017 started randomly crashing and restarting. I've checked the system diagnostics which have reported that everything's fine. I also tried running the first aid app, but it too isn't reporting any issues. I am on the latest version of macOS Monterey. Any ideas on what the problem could be? Here are some images showing what it displays when it does this⬇️⬇️⬇️ [link] [comments] |
Why is it so difficult to change location Applestore location? Posted: 05 Feb 2022 01:37 AM PST I moved from South America to Europe, and changing my AppStore location is the very first move to make. According to the official instructions, one should wait for all the subscriptions to end. But... I have some annual subscriptions that will end in a few months. I would not be in hurry to change the appstore location if the banking app I should use were available in all the appstore. But no, it is only in the appstore in the new location. How comes that it is so painful to change the appstore? Even if all the app I have subscribed to are available in the new location. Any hint of what I should do? I expect this problem to happen with any mac/iphone users that move around. How comes there is not an easy way to change appstore location? The solution I have found, is to use an old iPhone, with a new icloud account, just for the one application I need. macOS apps close by themselves randomly (Macbook M1, macOS 12.2) Posted: 05 Feb 2022 07:35 AM PST I'm having a really weird issue with macOS that I can't figure out. Certain apps are shutting down quietly and at random times. I start using my Macbook after it has been left alone for a while and apps like Spark, TickTock, Hue Menu Bar, Facebook Messages etc have quit themselves. Other apps like Firefox, iTerm, Bartender, Flux, all the inbuilt Apple apps etc stay open like they should. I can find no obvious similarities between apps that closes. It's such a hard problem to diagnose, since it happens totally randomly and silently. I just notice that the apps are closed, not them closing. I left Console open for a while and the only thing left there when an app closes by itself is this: Seems like some of automatic cache deletion process is quitting the apps. I had the same issue on macOS 12.1 too, and I decided to update to the macOS 12.2 beta as a way to "refresh" the OS. That worked for some days and I was happy that the problem was fixed, but after a few days the problem returned. Help me out please, how can I diagnose this? [link] [comments] |
Phone won’t recognise airpods as mine Posted: 05 Feb 2022 03:04 AM PST When I try and connect my AirPods it keeps coming up with the not your airpods thing. Is there any way to make my phone recognise them as mine [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Feb 2022 06:43 AM PST Hi! I'm a creator(Platform is TikTok and YouTube) who's currently on the lookout for an iPhone to help me make content ; I've settled on either two phones ; Either iPhone 11 or iPhone XR. The XR is currently about 100 EUR cheaper than the iPhone 11, and I'll mostly be using the front camera(Although in the future, the back camera will certainly come to use, too). Is there any reason for me right now to opt in for the iPhone 11 instead of the XR? (Almost all, if not, all of my filming will be done in good/great lighting conditions, with a separate microphone) Prices are at 377 for the iPhone 11 and 300 for iPhone XR, for those wondering. (Refurbished) P.S. I will not be using this phone as my daily phone, this phone would be used specifically for content creation [link] [comments] |
Trying to access my deceased Dad’s old messages. Been a long time coming. Posted: 05 Feb 2022 12:03 AM PST Howdy everybody, I've found myself in a bit of a jam. Any support, or advice, literally whatsoever, is greatly appreciated. So on November 2nd, 2016, my father, Sgt. Anthony D. Beminio was slain in an ambushed style attack in his patrol vehicle in the very early morning. I can't remember which day it was specifically, though it was not too long after that I got my phone replaced, and have not touched it since. Until just this moment. I decided that I finally want to see the old messages, though I wouldn't say it is for closure. I just need to, man. It made national news, and was a huge deal within Iowa at the time. The government, as well as its people have gone above and beyond to ensure I attain a successful future. But reverting back to my point, I encountered an issue while trying to access the phone. I forgot my passcode. The screen is busted and cracked, and I genuinely feel as though the few times I attempted before I could never make this far. The screen was officially too glitchy. How can I bypass the lockscreen without getting locked out? I think it was ios 8 or 7 that it was running. It's not even an active cellular device, though it is still connected to US Cellular. Can they help? I understand that this is a longshot. Thank you for reading this. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Feb 2022 05:02 AM PST So I tried updating my moms iMac to macOS Big Sur last year, it showed a file icon and I went into recovery and my time machine backup is not there. The only other option is the install a new copy of macOS, some of her photos are in iCloud but some are still stored locally in the photos app. If I click install a new copy of macOS, will it delete those photos? iPhone 12 screen froze with pink pixels all over then reboots? Posted: 05 Feb 2022 12:59 AM PST I have quite literally never had this happen to me in the past year since I got this phone. I don't have a screenshot because it happened kind of fast and I was really shocked. I can't really describe what happened other than a bunch of pink and black pixels appearing all over my screen and freezing, then my phone reboots and everything seems fine now. Is this something I should be worried about? That has never happened before. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Feb 2022 04:37 AM PST Hello, I purchased my 2021 16 inch MBP 1TB 16G RAM during Black Friday of 2021 and have noticed that it sometimes freezes/lags when I try to scroll on a webpage during simple internet browsing. I don't typically have a ton of tabs open when this happens, nor have I used more than 1/5 of my storage space on it. This also happens from time to time when trying to use Notability. I don't really turn my computer off (other than restarting it for updates) but the problem recurs even when I shut off and turn it back on. I was wondering if anyone had any idea why this could be/has experienced this and how to fix it? [link] [comments] |
Will Apple Care Cover Screen Scratches? Posted: 05 Feb 2022 12:31 AM PST My Apple care ends within the next 4 months, and I've been putting off repairing a decently deep scratch on my 12.9 inch iPad Pro. The scratch is really noticeable when the tablet is off or when I am on a white screen and I would really like to pay the $30 instead of just living with this until an OLED iPad (if there will be one) comes out. Does Apple Care only cover cracks, or noticeable scratches as well? My dad bought the iPad and first logged in with his AppleID as well. It is currently logged into mine with all the data. In the ABOUT section, it still states that it is covered. Will Apple give me a hard time for it being under a different Apple ID as well? In other words, is the Apple care bound to the Apple ID, or the iPad (sorry if this is a stupid question). [link] [comments] |
Is it safe charging my iPhone through a USB-C adapter? Posted: 05 Feb 2022 12:18 AM PST Hi guys, I have a 2020 MBA, and I use an adapter to plug multiple things on just one USB-C port. I would use the port right behind the blue receptor I am wondering if it is safe to use one of the ports to charge my iPhone on a regular basis, as a friend told me those ports were only used for data and that it wouldn't be healthy using them for charging. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
iPhone 8 battery died after rendering a 830mb pdf Posted: 05 Feb 2022 04:00 AM PST I made some vector artwork in adobe illustrator and export them in pdf format. For my convenience I combined them into a single pdf file which was roughly 830MB, super big as a pdf. I uploaded it to cloud drive and saved it on my phone to enjoy. However, when I was playing around the artwork pdf file, zooming in and out, panning, etc., the battery was like dropping at 3% per second. It scared me and I delete that mega file immediately and closed down my phone. I tried launching it minutes later but it showed as the battery has run out. I plugged in and after the phone had been recharged, it found the battery health dropped to 37%. My question is, is this problem/accident caused by my mega pdf file or just a battery malfunction problem? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 05 Feb 2022 03:32 AM PST Hello Guys! I've initiated the password change for my wife while she forgot the password and registered the phone to her old company phone, and we waited 1 month for the reset, but unfortunately nothing happened(no text or call on the new phone number). In the email they said I can check the status of the request but I'm not able to log in. Now we have initiated one more but it requires again a month to wait. Is this a common issue? Is there any workaround? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Apple One Individual Subscription Posted: 05 Feb 2022 03:27 AM PST Hi, I've had subscriptions to all of the services that apple one offers in the past, I don't have any active subscriptions right now, if I decide to pay for apple one will I still get one month free ? [link] [comments] |
Wired apple earpods connected but doesn’t work Posted: 05 Feb 2022 03:15 AM PST I got an iPhone 12 128gb this January along with the official apple wired earpods. I didn't have any problem in the first 2/3 weeks. But for the last 10 days or so I'm having this issue when I connect the earphones, my phone doesn't show that a earphone has been connected and continues to be on speaker mode. After disconnecting and connecting the earphones multiple times and locking and unlocking my device a few times, or restarting the app that I was using, I can get it to work. And when it works, there's no issue with the sound or anything which leads me to believe that this is not a hardware issue. (But sometimes the earphones stop working i.e. my phone stops recognising that earphones are connected suddenly even though I haven't moved a muscle) The lightning port has no dust or residue and the charging works perfectly fine. I have tried hard restarting my phone but that didn't solve anything. Has anyone ever faced this or have any advice? (I strongly believe it isn't the earpods because (a) they aren't even a month old (b) I take pretty decent care of them, so there shouldn't be any issue hardware wise) [link] [comments] |
